The oldest railway in the world was the Manchester to Liverpool line by the Stevenson’s in the 1800s
Actually, that one appeared in the 1830's, around 1839. The Leeds - Selby railway opened in 1831, the Stockton & Darlington in 1825. We even have record of a railway in Wales dating back to 1804.

Jenny Wakeman Liverpool to Manchester was the first inter city passenger railway in the world, that’s what I mean.
Tanfield opened in 1725 a full 100 years before the Stockton & Darlington and therefore 105 before the Liverpool & Manchester
