  • L.R. Baggs Venue DI Preamp & Para DI Preamp | Review | Demo
    In an ideal world, acoustic guitarists would simply rock up to any venue in the land, plug into the house PA and sound fantastic. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Nick Jennison takes a look at two products from L.R. Baggs that may be just the solution acoustic players have been waiting for.

    See the video simply titled "LR Baggs Acoustic DI" by hhacsound for a little more detailed explanation of the controls. Really starts at the 3:15 mark.

    Kept each music demo consistant was useful. Able to 'compare' functions on each control. Para Accoustic DI was impressive [not over the top fx, but clean].

    Had mine for 3 years. Tough as nails and if you like ( and know ) good sound and have some patience you can really dial your guitar in quite nice.

      different needs. This one if for pure tone tweaking. Tonedeck is more focused on effects, with good, but more basic tone shaping options. @@mikechase1141

    Excellent video...I have gotta get one of these.
    Honestly for more than $100 cheaper, the smaller DI is such an excellent product. It can produce the same desirable tones for a much cheaper price.
    Sure, it offers less customizable knobs but what matters to me is does it produce a great sound with the absolute least amount of work! I dont want it to be something incredibly complicated, not that the reverb is, it's just "More" Complicated than the other.
    I want it to be basically plug and play. Can I plug it in, do a very small amount of work, and sound amazing?
    ...the answer is YES!
    I obviously would prefer the bigger tone though if they were the same price but for $100 less, awesome product!

    excellent review, except for the constant distortion.. I realize he's not hearing tha actual "tape return" of the recording, but Jaysus!!!! it sounds ridicolous

    The lesson here is: It doesn’t matter what kind of amplification you have if you don’t know how to play…

    Man watching all these people trying out these guitar pickups and DIs make me thankful for my Cole Clark. 3 way EQ, 3 Pickups, one switch. Best acoustic sound I’ve ever had pugged in. This intro sounded like absolute shit. I don’t even wanna hear the rest of the video.

    Cool piece of gear... I would love to try this on my banjo. And thanks for the thorough video....but what the heck is that distortion coming from? e.g. around 6:43. I thought it was string buzzing at first but I don't think so. I'm not sure how to evaluate some of the stuff he's saying because I am so distracted by whatever that buzzing is. Maybe I missed it if he said something about this.

    • @cmeimgee
      @cmeimgee Před 6 lety

      Actually, pretty sure there is some string buzzing too actually. I think I can hear it around 10:39 on that G chord.

    We can put a man on the moon but we cannot come up with a way to properly pick up an acoustic guitar without making it sound brittle and thin. Other than a microphone, of course.
