This made me realize how perfect the WOWP ending is... Alex was the right choice all along to be the family wizard, because she knows what choices to make when it really matters. Working at Wiz Tech was definitely a better choice for Justin. And Max running the sandwitch shop? HE WAS A NATURAL ALL ALONG!!
Max got shafted. Why make him the only one without powers. It was bad enough that 99% of the plots throughout the show centered on the obvious male and female audience surrogates, alex and justin. While max was just there.

Y’all remember the episode where Max was managing the Sub Station in the human world and in the Wizard World? And Jerry and Justin didn’t wanna listen to his ideas. Well why didn’t he keep his powers to at least run a sub station in the wizard world? He was robbed.
It’s the fact that Justin and Alex always relied everything on magic but max didn’t need magic and would do everything without it, he was always helping around the subway and knew what to do. So him being in charge wasn’t shocking since it was the thing he was the best at and no one had issues with.

I don’t know if it’s because he was always younger so he wasn’t in the A plots but he really didn’t use magic that often. When he was Maxine I’m pretty sure she only used magic in one of the episodes

it's sweet how Max Alex and Justin all work together to make this business alive again and look on Jerry's face he really really seems happy and his heart I bet is growing cuz his children are working together which I'm sure they haven't done in years since they've had their powers
There are plenty of cheesy things from shows back then.Keep in mind it’s always Disney.Most episodes in this series aren’t as emotional as the finale.That’s the way most finales work.
I still hate how Max and especially Justin react to this. Their best friends that supported them through thick and thin could've died and Alex chose to risk losing magic but have her best friend over having magic but probably losing her best friend forever. The fact that especially Justin got mad at her for that and even considered leaving Zeke and not even coming back for him makes me think that they really didn't deserve to continue in the competition since Alex was the only one that cared about her friends over magic. Justin clearly valued magic over friends and maybe family because of how mad they got at Alex. It kind of makes me question what if she won fair and square and was the family wizard and Justin gets no magic at the end. I understand the meaning of the test but they could've found a better way (story wise) that wouldn't make them see like jerks
I acted the same way when I got home from the hospital having the biggest surgery and the biggest fight with my sister we watched this show when I was in there we got into a argument about her being overly proactive of me she walked out mad after the fight she came back later jumped right in bed next to me layed down on my shoulder wrapping her arms around me we watched this show there because she wanted the old me back this new me would fight with her and not do anything I used to do I spent that summer in the hospital didn't get to see her often that's what hurt me more than being In that place when I got home she didn't let me do anything on my own there was certain rules and guidelines the minute she found out about them she couldn't take it came right to me beside the bed I could tell someone was wrong the second she walked in she sat beside me in the bed held my hand we sat there for 2 hours till my mom walked in to talk to us both we both needed to adopt to the rules but in our own way I needed to fellow them she needed to be less protective she slept beside me that night my dad handled the kids he knew we needed exchange that night slept right beside me that night watching disney channel
I agree, Justin doesn't even cared if Zeke is going to Die. I can't believe how selfish Max and especially Justin was blaming Alex for doing the right thing. If it hasn't been for her making a selfless choice, Harper and Zeke wouldn't even be here by now. Nothing Is more important than friends and family.

Mr. Brodie It wasn’t her fault though. It was his friends fault. And even though that wasn’t the original plan, something was suppose to go wrong in the competition (as a part of it). It was a test of character and he would have been the real reason that it would have been over.

Does anyone else notice how the main characters have horrible parents..?! The parents constantly use favouritism, enable sibling rivalry by using the wizard competition, the parents also encourage their children to lie and keep secrets yet punish them when they keep secrets or lie to their parents. The parents also try to force Alex to grow up and change even though they should love her for who she is.
The concept of only one kid getting to be the wizard of the fam is so messed up, especially because they all START with powers. It’s literally a built in “I’m going to resent my family forever for taking something important from me by force”
one of the things I always disliked about Justin is that he almost always blamed Alex for everything. Like yeah, she was irresponsible and messed things up most of the time, but she usually had good intentions for everything
He helps her out of her mess. He blames her. She helps him out of his mess. He still blames her. She does the right, selfless thing. Sadly, it also has negative effects. He STILL blames her. Alex might be lazy and doesn't always think things through, but at least she is a good person inside. Caring, selfless when need be, open-minded, takes responsiblity, solution-oriented, brave. Sure, she is lazy, and a bit selfish about the less important stuff, but she is generally a good person with weaknesses and learns from her mistakes. Justine has discipline, but aside from that, he has nothing worth mentioning. He is selfish, self-absorbed, closed-minded, and vain. At least starting from the middle of season three. I miss the nice, caring Justine we had before. He was a good guy.
It infuriates me with Justin when he said "Nice going, Alex. Look what you did to Dad." Alex was right when she said "I didn't do it alone." Justin was really being rude. I get that they miss their powers, but he was really not behaving well with the situation. Him taking his anger on Alex is what led to the customers being driven away. First, he wouldn't give her the food that the customer ordered and would rather give Max the ones his customers ordered instead. Alex didn't need the food for herself. The customer she was waitressing for needed it. So Justin was really making the customer suffer. Justin even threw the food at Alex causing the customer to be covered in a mess. When my dad saw that part, he couldn't believe how rude Justin was behaving. Even though the griffin was supposed to kidnap Professor Crumbs and it instead kidnapped Harper and Zeke, Alex still would've saved him too because she knew it was the right thing. Alex knew there was a chance the monster hunters probably couldn't make it in time. Justin was not being responsible enough. Even said "You just want to go save them because you're so far behind on points." That was just wrong. You think about it, and Justin obviously didn't realize this... Justin cared more about his own powers than saving his best friends. Now, if Juliet were kidnapped then he for sure would go off to save her since he did that before. But this serious. Justin was mad at Alex because she wanted to save their friends. Imagine if this sort of conversation happened... Justin: This is all your fault, Alex! If you didn't suggest going out there, we wouldn't be mortals right now! Alex: You seriously think what I thought was wrong? Justin: Of course! Everything you do is wrong! And this is the worst thing you've ever done to this family! Harper: So keeping your wizard powers is more important than saving your best friends? (Justin looks at Harper and Zeke. He realizes he is in a bad situation now). Harper: You actually would've let us be kidnapped by that griffin instead of saving us? We could've died. Zeke was almost eaten. Justin: But... I-- I told Alex that the monster hunters would've went to save you guys. So you would've been fine. Harper: What if they didn't make it time? What if they arrived too late? You went to save Juliet from that mummy no matter what. Why should saving your best friends be any different? I can't believe that you were actually willing to stay put and continue that stupid competition than rescuing us. Justin: I did want you to be rescued. Harper: But you didn't offer to come save us yourself. Alex told me that the only way she convinced Max to come along was that he could attached the griffin's wings to himself so he could fly. You were the last person to agree to save us. You hesitated! You know something? If I were in charge of that wizard competition, I would give Alex way more points than you since she was willing to put her own powers at risk to save two people that she cares about. Because that sounds like a true family wizard to me. What if your parents were kidnapped by that griffin? Would you only hope the monster hunters get to them in time so you can keep your powers just so you can be the family wizard? (Justin stands in silence. He doesn't know what to say.) Harper: I can't believe I ever had a crush on you. (Harper storms off) Justin: Harper, wait! Zeke:.....She's right you know. (Justin turns to Zeke) Zeke: I'm your best friend. And you didn't even think about coming to save me? Justin: Hey, I wanted you to be safe. I didn't want anything bad to happen to you. Zeke: But you really didn't offer to come to save me. Alex finds me annoying and she was still willing to save me. She didn't just risk her powers. She was risking her own life to save mine. And you would rather save your own powers. Justin: But I did come to help you. Zeke: But that isn't what you were originally going to do. Max was convinced to save us before you were. And he was convinced in a stupid way. No offense, Max. (Max shrugs in agreement) Max: None taken. Zeke: Justin, you were more than just my friend. You were a brother to me. Justin: ...."Were"? What do you... What do you mean "were"? Zeke: I mean I'm done. Now you don't have your wizard powers or friends. I may still be annoying to Alex, but I'll still be her friend whenever she needs me. And Harper will be there for her too. (Zeke leaves. Justin can't believe what just happened) I feel like this sort of thing would've been a real impact. But Justin would then do something to redeem himself in which Harper and Zeke would accept him again. This wouldn't be the only time Justin was willing to leave Harper in some sort of trouble though. There was that one episode when they all had to time travel to the 1957 to keep the wizard lair. Them doing this resulted in them accidentally leave Harper in the past and Justin didn't want to go back there to risk the timeline getting ruined worse, so he just told Alex "You can get a new best friend."
Definitely agree with you here Alex didn't deserve to get often treated the way she was in this episode it showed how much she values others very well and it showed how selfish Justin can really be
So true, I wish they would've put that in the episode and yet they didn't. And maybe Juliet got upset with him about not saving his friends and dumps him to make him suffer and understand the consequences of doing the right thing instead of being selfish over his wizard powers, then he'll apologize to everyone especially Alex and say that he was wrong, and she was right to save their friends from the griffin
Finally!!! This is everything I wanted to say. I was so infuriated in that episode. They completely messed up writing Justin in the later seasons. Neither this nor aunt Megan not taking test, none was Alex's fault.

POOR MAX. He must have privately and deeply resented losing all of his wizard's powers to his older siblings, which might have resulted in his public meltdown at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards when he was refused entrance at the gifting suite because nobody recognized him anymore. POOR KID. There ought to be another reunion TV movie wherein Max turns evil and takes revenge on his entire family. I would watch that.
okay so it was real sweet I'll Max past Alex and then looked around and then he helped her so I think that he really is the best wizard other than Alex of course because he doesn't need powers to be kind cuz that is what being wizard is all about and hopefully Justin will actually show some kindness throughout this video
This is why Justin doesn't deserve to be a wizard, but Alex does. Alex does the right thing, saves to lives selflessly, saves Justin's and her best friends understanding the risk. Justin wants to let them die. Alex continues to want to rescue Zeek after Harper is save, even though he is not her friend. Justin, who is Zeek's best friend, wants to let him die. Alex did the right thing. When the consequences they were all aware of arise, Alex accepts them, takes full blame (even though she did nothing wrong, as astablished above), apologizes multiple times, and tries to repair the bond with her brothers. Her brothers, especially Justin, shut her out for saving two lives. When her brothers mistreating her leads to problems at the sub shop, Alex is the one to apologize, again without being to blame, to the customers and to her brothers and to her parents. Justin and Max just blame Alex even though they caused every single disturbance. When the parents decide to sell the shop, Alex is the first to step up and say she wants to save the shop. Justin and Maxjyst do it out of spite, making it a competition. Only at this point does Alex even make a single thing wrong: she fights with her brothers after they attacked her for weeks (while she kept apologizing for the entire duration before). Yet she only does that when she is actually needing the same thing as one of her brothers is at the same time. When she is doing her seperate thing, such as bringing in groceries, she is nice about it and leaves them alone. They still mistreat her for a considerable time after that. Justin is taking particularly long to go back to a decent human being.
Does anyone else think that this finale would have been more satisfying if someone called out Justin for being a massive jerk to Alex. I get that the (seemingly) canceled was her fault, but one would think that he’d cut her some slack considering she was trying to save his best friend along with her best friend. Not only that, someone really should called out Justin for blaming Alex for sub shop closing because that was way more his fault than hers. Let’s face it, he was taking his anger out on her instead of being mature enough to dealing with it in a healthy way. If he hadn’t kept causing trouble for Alex of anger during working hours, the shop wouldn’t be closing.

jimmy well, in the episode “Justin’s Back In”, Justin assumes Alex rushed the delinquents in their testing so as to keep him out of the competition, and in “ Wizard Of The Year”, he feels like he should’ve won the award. So even before this episode, Justin is a monster towards Alex. I think the biggest flaw Justin possesses is his arrogance
Well, Justin was working and learning so hard from the beginning, while Alex didn't care at all, she used her magic just for her needs. However, she decided to change, and do right things. Justin couldn't deal with the fact that he may not be the best, and that he had to so many times clean the mess which Alex made.
No Justin was always self centered like this. He always blamed Alex for everything and deliberately did things to mess up Alex's life. When Alex messed with Justin it was not serious and she was just joking. Justin often did mean spirited things in the last two seasons because he couldn't stand the thought of Alex being more successful than him. He was really mean spirited and bitter in the later seasons.

Justin put the effort in and Alex had a natural talent without trying, he was right to think he deserved it more because he worked harder than she did. Despite his bitterness towards Alex though, he was always there to help her out and when the wizard comp ended and he'd been named the family wizard (the one thing he wanted most) he gave it up because he knew his little sister was the reason he finished first. The only episode i hate justin. He didnt care about saving zeke and harpour while alex did then blame alex for saving his friends(Imagine justin is okay with zeke who is his best friend dying) . And max acting like he was ever going to win, He knew since the first episode he was never going to win. Then treat alex badly for doing something good and acting like he actually had a chance.
I'm so mad when Justin blame it all on Alex, and I've been thinking why the story has to be written like this. You see, in the previous episodes Justin cares so much about Alex, and usually help her at last. I just like the moment they say how strange relationship they are in and the heart warming huggings, so I've always trusted that Justin actually cares his little sister more than magic. Even Max, I don't think he would be so mean to Alex when she screw up the competition as I thought he would be. I think the only way to explain why they act like this for maybe two reasons: one, the importance of this competition should be clarify by a extreme way, and show how Alex had grown up as a nicer wizard (such as helping friend than the magic); second, the conflict between Russo's siblings is always there (so does their close relationship), and it came to a white hot situation becoz of the competition, and that's how people do when they can't express their feelings directly as if they're wrong, and sure, I have a brother, I can understand sometimes we lose control and hurt others rudely. I still love Russo siblings, and I think thats what this show had taught me.

I swear, Justin did not age well as a character. I remember hating him in the series finale for being mad at Alex for choosing their friends over wizardry, but looking back, he was always terrible. He was a self-righteous egotistical jerk who couldn't swallow his pride when his siblings did something better. Like when Alex won student and wizard awards, instead of being proud he just bitched about hiw it should've been him and tried to ruin Alex's moment. I know Alex did things to Justin, but at least she owns who she is. Justin puts on a facade that he is the good child, but in truth is worse because he is in denial that he's more selfish than Alex. Alex was tge right choice to win because she understood wizardry wasn't more important than her family and friends. Justin was willing to let Harper and Zeke get eaten by a Griffin so he could win and then became a jackass to Alex because she chose the unselfish thing to do. If I was Crums i would've just stopped the competition after the first week of Justin and Max being jerks and declare Alex the winner for being the only sibling to not put her own wants before the safety of her family and friends.
It is totally unnecessary for only one kid to keep their powers! People have to lose their powers because their siblings worked harder? What if you're an only child do you keep your powers? But anyway I'm on Stevie's side what's the point of getting magical powers if you have to lose them later in life?! And worst if you're dating a wizard world creature you have to break up with them?!
Ik it's messed up how Justin is acting, but we have to remember he's been training his whole life for this. Alex usually messes up everything and he has to fix it. Once again she messes up everything, but she's gone too far. Justin's true colors really show here because they went to rescue HARPER and ZEKE which is justin's friend too. Who wouldn't get pissed at their sibling for ruining everything they've worked towards though? Alex and Max have always been more laid back but Justin takes this kind of stuff really seriously. It's like telling a straight A super smart student that dreams of going to Harvard that they can't get in. They probably wouldn't know how to handle it. If you told a more laid back student they probably wouldn't even care. They would just do something else. Justin kind of reminds me of Percy from Harry Potter. Anyways, at least they all came around.

I still hate how Max and especially Justin react to this. Their best friends that supported them through thick and thin could've died and Alex chose to risk losing magic but have her best friend over having magic but probably losing her best friend forever. The fact that especially Justin got mad at her for that and even considered leaving Zeke and not even coming back for him makes me think that they really didn't deserve to continue in the competition since Alex was the only one that cared about her friends over magic. Justin clearly valued magic over friends and maybe family because of how mad they got at Alex. It kind of makes me question what if she won fair and square and was the family wizard and Justin gets no magic at the end. I understand the meaning of the test but they could've found a better way (story wise) that wouldn't make them see like jerks
I acted the same way when I got home from the hospital having the biggest surgery and the biggest fight with my sister we watched this show when I was in there we got into a argument about her being overly proactive of me she walked out mad after the fight she came back later jumped right in bed next to me layed down on my shoulder wrapping her arms around me we watched this show there because she wanted the old me back this new me would fight with her and not do anything I used to do I spent that summer in the hospital didn't get to see her often that's what hurt me more than being In that place when I got home she didn't let me do anything on my own there was certain rules and guidelines the minute she found out about them she couldn't take it came right to me beside the bed I could tell someone was wrong the second she walked in she sat beside me in the bed held my hand we sat there for 2 hours till my mom walked in to talk to us both we both needed to adopt to the rules but in our own way I needed to fellow them she needed to be less protective she slept beside me that night my dad handled the kids he knew we needed exchange that night slept right beside me that night watching disney channel

Does anyone else notice how the main characters have horrible parents..?! The parents constantly use favouritism, enable sibling rivalry by using the wizard competition, the parents also encourage their children to lie and keep secrets yet punish them when they keep secrets or lie to their parents. The parents also try to force Alex to grow up and change even though they should love her for who she is.
The concept of only one kid getting to be the wizard of the fam is so messed up, especially because they all START with powers. It’s literally a built in “I’m going to resent my family forever for taking something important from me by force”

Sure, she is lazy, and a bit selfish about the less important stuff, but she is generally a good person with weaknesses and learns from her mistakes.
Justine has discipline, but aside from that, he has nothing worth mentioning. He is selfish, self-absorbed, closed-minded, and vain. At least starting from the middle of season three. I miss the nice, caring Justine we had before. He was a good guy.

It infuriates me with Justin when he said "Nice going, Alex. Look what you did to Dad." Alex was right when she said "I didn't do it alone." Justin was really being rude. I get that they miss their powers, but he was really not behaving well with the situation. Him taking his anger on Alex is what led to the customers being driven away. First, he wouldn't give her the food that the customer ordered and would rather give Max the ones his customers ordered instead. Alex didn't need the food for herself. The customer she was waitressing for needed it. So Justin was really making the customer suffer. Justin even threw the food at Alex causing the customer to be covered in a mess. When my dad saw that part, he couldn't believe how rude Justin was behaving. Even though the griffin was supposed to kidnap Professor Crumbs and it instead kidnapped Harper and Zeke, Alex still would've saved him too because she knew it was the right thing. Alex knew there was a chance the monster hunters probably couldn't make it in time. Justin was not being responsible enough. Even said "You just want to go save them because you're so far behind on points." That was just wrong. You think about it, and Justin obviously didn't realize this... Justin cared more about his own powers than saving his best friends. Now, if Juliet were kidnapped then he for sure would go off to save her since he did that before. But this serious. Justin was mad at Alex because she wanted to save their friends. Imagine if this sort of conversation happened...
Justin: This is all your fault, Alex! If you didn't suggest going out there, we wouldn't be mortals right now!
Alex: You seriously think what I thought was wrong?
Justin: Of course! Everything you do is wrong! And this is the worst thing you've ever done to this family!
Harper: So keeping your wizard powers is more important than saving your best friends?
(Justin looks at Harper and Zeke. He realizes he is in a bad situation now).
Harper: You actually would've let us be kidnapped by that griffin instead of saving us? We could've died. Zeke was almost eaten.
Justin: But... I-- I told Alex that the monster hunters would've went to save you guys. So you would've been fine.
Harper: What if they didn't make it time? What if they arrived too late? You went to save Juliet from that mummy no matter what. Why should saving your best friends be any different? I can't believe that you were actually willing to stay put and continue that stupid competition than rescuing us.
Justin: I did want you to be rescued.
Harper: But you didn't offer to come save us yourself. Alex told me that the only way she convinced Max to come along was that he could attached the griffin's wings to himself so he could fly. You were the last person to agree to save us. You hesitated! You know something? If I were in charge of that wizard competition, I would give Alex way more points than you since she was willing to put her own powers at risk to save two people that she cares about. Because that sounds like a true family wizard to me. What if your parents were kidnapped by that griffin? Would you only hope the monster hunters get to them in time so you can keep your powers just so you can be the family wizard?
(Justin stands in silence. He doesn't know what to say.)
Harper: I can't believe I ever had a crush on you.
(Harper storms off)
Justin: Harper, wait!
Zeke:.....She's right you know.
(Justin turns to Zeke)
Zeke: I'm your best friend. And you didn't even think about coming to save me?
Justin: Hey, I wanted you to be safe. I didn't want anything bad to happen to you.
Zeke: But you really didn't offer to come to save me. Alex finds me annoying and she was still willing to save me. She didn't just risk her powers. She was risking her own life to save mine. And you would rather save your own powers.
Justin: But I did come to help you.
Zeke: But that isn't what you were originally going to do. Max was convinced to save us before you were. And he was convinced in a stupid way. No offense, Max.
(Max shrugs in agreement)
Max: None taken.
Zeke: Justin, you were more than just my friend. You were a brother to me.
Justin: ...."Were"? What do you... What do you mean "were"?
Zeke: I mean I'm done. Now you don't have your wizard powers or friends. I may still be annoying to Alex, but I'll still be her friend whenever she needs me. And Harper will be there for her too.
(Zeke leaves. Justin can't believe what just happened)
I feel like this sort of thing would've been a real impact. But Justin would then do something to redeem himself in which Harper and Zeke would accept him again. This wouldn't be the only time Justin was willing to leave Harper in some sort of trouble though. There was that one episode when they all had to time travel to the 1957 to keep the wizard lair. Them doing this resulted in them accidentally leave Harper in the past and Justin didn't want to go back there to risk the timeline getting ruined worse, so he just told Alex "You can get a new best friend."
Definitely agree with you here Alex didn't deserve to get often treated the way she was in this episode it showed how much she values others very well and it showed how selfish Justin can really be

And maybe Juliet got upset with him about not saving his friends and dumps him to make him suffer and understand the consequences of doing the right thing instead of being selfish over his wizard powers, then he'll apologize to everyone especially Alex and say that he was wrong, and she was right to save their friends from the griffin
Finally!!! This is everything I wanted to say. I was so infuriated in that episode. They completely messed up writing Justin in the later seasons. Neither this nor aunt Megan not taking test, none was Alex's fault.

POOR MAX. He must have privately and deeply resented losing all of his wizard's powers to his older siblings, which might have resulted in his public meltdown at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards when he was refused entrance at the gifting suite because nobody recognized him anymore. POOR KID. There ought to be another reunion TV movie wherein Max turns evil and takes revenge on his entire family. I would watch that.

This is why Justin doesn't deserve to be a wizard, but Alex does. Alex does the right thing, saves to lives selflessly, saves Justin's and her best friends understanding the risk. Justin wants to let them die. Alex continues to want to rescue Zeek after Harper is save, even though he is not her friend. Justin, who is Zeek's best friend, wants to let him die. Alex did the right thing.
When the consequences they were all aware of arise, Alex accepts them, takes full blame (even though she did nothing wrong, as astablished above), apologizes multiple times, and tries to repair the bond with her brothers. Her brothers, especially Justin, shut her out for saving two lives.
When her brothers mistreating her leads to problems at the sub shop, Alex is the one to apologize, again without being to blame, to the customers and to her brothers and to her parents. Justin and Max just blame Alex even though they caused every single disturbance.
When the parents decide to sell the shop, Alex is the first to step up and say she wants to save the shop. Justin and Maxjyst do it out of spite, making it a competition.
Only at this point does Alex even make a single thing wrong: she fights with her brothers after they attacked her for weeks (while she kept apologizing for the entire duration before). Yet she only does that when she is actually needing the same thing as one of her brothers is at the same time.
When she is doing her seperate thing, such as bringing in groceries, she is nice about it and leaves them alone. They still mistreat her for a considerable time after that. Justin is taking particularly long to go back to a decent human being.
Idk why but since Max matured, he reminds me of Jake T Austin's other character, Jesus.
Does anyone else think that this finale would have been more satisfying if someone called out Justin for being a massive jerk to Alex. I get that the (seemingly) canceled was her fault, but one would think that he’d cut her some slack considering she was trying to save his best friend along with her best friend. Not only that, someone really should called out Justin for blaming Alex for sub shop closing because that was way more his fault than hers. Let’s face it, he was taking his anger out on her instead of being mature enough to dealing with it in a healthy way. If he hadn’t kept causing trouble for Alex of anger during working hours, the shop wouldn’t be closing.

I think the playwright wants to make Alex seem better and kindness, making Justin and Max be selfish and unclear on purpose, this is not a good way.
jimmy well, in the episode “Justin’s Back In”, Justin assumes Alex rushed the delinquents in their testing so as to keep him out of the competition, and in “ Wizard Of The Year”, he feels like he should’ve won the award. So even before this episode, Justin is a monster towards Alex. I think the biggest flaw Justin possesses is his arrogance
Well, Justin was working and learning so hard from the beginning, while Alex didn't care at all, she used her magic just for her needs. However, she decided to change, and do right things. Justin couldn't deal with the fact that he may not be the best, and that he had to so many times clean the mess which Alex made.
No Justin was always self centered like this. He always blamed Alex for everything and deliberately did things to mess up Alex's life. When Alex messed with Justin it was not serious and she was just joking. Justin often did mean spirited things in the last two seasons because he couldn't stand the thought of Alex being more successful than him. He was really mean spirited and bitter in the later seasons.

Justin put the effort in and Alex had a natural talent without trying, he was right to think he deserved it more because he worked harder than she did. Despite his bitterness towards Alex though, he was always there to help her out and when the wizard comp ended and he'd been named the family wizard (the one thing he wanted most) he gave it up because he knew his little sister was the reason he finished first. He's really not as bad as everyone seems to think...

I'm so mad when Justin blame it all on Alex, and I've been thinking why the story has to be written like this. You see, in the previous episodes Justin cares so much about Alex, and usually help her at last. I just like the moment they say how strange relationship they are in and the heart warming huggings, so I've always trusted that Justin actually cares his little sister more than magic. Even Max, I don't think he would be so mean to Alex when she screw up the competition as I thought he would be. I think the only way to explain why they act like this for maybe two reasons: one, the importance of this competition should be clarify by a extreme way, and show how Alex had grown up as a nicer wizard (such as helping friend than the magic); second, the conflict between Russo's siblings is always there (so does their close relationship), and it came to a white hot situation becoz of the competition, and that's how people do when they can't express their feelings directly as if they're wrong, and sure, I have a brother, I can understand sometimes we lose control and hurt others rudely.
I still love Russo siblings, and I think thats what this show had taught me.

How did i miss this episode
I swear, Justin did not age well as a character. I remember hating him in the series finale for being mad at Alex for choosing their friends over wizardry, but looking back, he was always terrible. He was a self-righteous egotistical jerk who couldn't swallow his pride when his siblings did something better. Like when Alex won student and wizard awards, instead of being proud he just bitched about hiw it should've been him and tried to ruin Alex's moment. I know Alex did things to Justin, but at least she owns who she is. Justin puts on a facade that he is the good child, but in truth is worse because he is in denial that he's more selfish than Alex. Alex was tge right choice to win because she understood wizardry wasn't more important than her family and friends. Justin was willing to let Harper and Zeke get eaten by a Griffin so he could win and then became a jackass to Alex because she chose the unselfish thing to do. If I was Crums i would've just stopped the competition after the first week of Justin and Max being jerks and declare Alex the winner for being the only sibling to not put her own wants before the safety of her family and friends.

Ik it's messed up how Justin is acting, but we have to remember he's been training his whole life for this. Alex usually messes up everything and he has to fix it. Once again she messes up everything, but she's gone too far. Justin's true colors really show here because they went to rescue HARPER and ZEKE which is justin's friend too. Who wouldn't get pissed at their sibling for ruining everything they've worked towards though? Alex and Max have always been more laid back but Justin takes this kind of stuff really seriously. It's like telling a straight A super smart student that dreams of going to Harvard that they can't get in. They probably wouldn't know how to handle it. If you told a more laid back student they probably wouldn't even care. They would just do something else. Justin kind of reminds me of Percy from Harry Potter. Anyways, at least they all came around.
