PixelAndy (his screenname) picked up NES Tetris back in 2019, initially learning the DAS technique. After his competition began to improve, he was forced to learn hypertapping, a playstyle spearheaded by Joseph Saelee and Koryan in the previous Classic Tetris World Championships. In the 2020 CTWC, he would show his mastery of tapping, forced to face none other than his brother Dog in the finals. After that, Andy would once again be forced to play catch-up as top competitor Cheez unveiled the rolling technique, only this time, Andy would be able to find his way to the top, dominating competition in recent months.

Is Andy currently the most underrated player in the scene?
Absolutely 100%. Been saying it recently, the guy has stepped up massively.
He's been underrated for a long time.
I don't think he is underated. Definitely a top player that could be champion this autumn!
Aki!
No lol he's consistently been top 5 or higher for the past couple years
4:45 Rollers…… and Tugi
ah yes, the three playstyles. Tap Roll and Tugi
Whats so special about Tugi?
@@yarno8086 Tugi

I think Harry will win CTWC with his own playstyle he announced a while back! Lots of potential there
Harry hong invented his own playing style? What is it? 😲

telekinesis?
My bet's on Houser. I'm sure he's planning to make a surprise comeback after retreating for a few years to train
@@lancestewart6447 darry dong invented the dicking playstyle
Great recap and video! May have come second to Dog in the past, but neither player would be who they are without each other. I hope they realize how valuable their rivalry is.
The world championship from 2018 turned tetris upside down
5 years ago a roster of only teens was unimaginable but now it's the standard
If only Jonas could see those 2 mil scores in competitive Tetris. He would be proud
Note entirely sure how usual this is, but in the clips featured at 07:09 in the video, P1xelAndy puts the T-piece over to the right side, and just before it sets he rotates it to the right, accomodating for the square-piece right after - whereas without the square being right after, I'd expect the T-piece to not close off the right side. As someone who is mainly an observer, this quick thinking/reflexes/intuition is amazing to see (Or maybe, to an experienced player this is just a regular move? I don't know. I'm impressed either way)
Andy and Dog should be in Portland, Dog did win the qualifier
2:10 I love how the start of this match has them showin clearly theyre brothers in case there was any doubt xD
They both do very similar stims right before the match of rubbin/scratchin just behind the head; just a sorta anxious tic thats probs familially shared and just the thing they picked up as how to destress
"a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." Is the original phrase
Andy vs Fractal this CTWC finals. Calling it now.
Good deal. I'm glad he finally put it all together. 😋
My current top 5 before the ctwc:
1. Dog
2. Huff
3. Cheez
4. Andy
5. Fractal
I feel like Cheez has dropped off and Alex T, and EricICX should be in there maybe
@@notawesomedanny785 Cheese hasn't dropped off, so to speak. Learning new techniques takes a really long time to get good at. Eric did a spread sheet with most of the games from most of the rollers. There's a honeymoon phase where everyone gets super high scores. Then there is a huge dip, and only after that dip a steady return to and passing of the honeymoon phase scores. He is the furthest along, as far as learning time, and most likely has the most true skill. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the rest of the year...
Cheez rarely perform well during tournaments so maybe cross him off that list.
@@notawesomedanny785 If Cheez dropped off, then why would Alex be a contender, considering their recent matches against each other ending in Cheez winning? And Eric... He has the world record but his consistency isn't there yet. These players would likely beat him this ctwc, in all honesty. Perhaps
1. Dog
2. Huff
3. Cheez
4. Andy
5. Alex t.
@@teddanville6996 yeah?
Is it fair to say that Andy is the best player? He's very good, but he's not the world champion, doesn't have the highest Elo, and doesn't have the world record. I think it's fair to say he's in the top three with Dog and Alex, but not necessarily number one.
0:13 You can see me behind Andy in the orange hoodie lol
😯
We can't fathom having all rounds in one day. One round per day is what we would suffice so we won't get exhausted in the finals.
They play for 2 days, first day they play to top 8 and day two they play till there is a winner
Omg I can't wait for someone to explain rolling again
Hopefully Tetris players will start getting sponsored
Has Dogplayingtetris become a full roller? I thought he was hybrid with him using rolling after level 29?
i'm pretty sure on his 2.2 mil level 29 start he was tapping & rolling concurrently, basically switching between the two styles depending on how far he needed to move the pieces. that was probably may or april-ish, though recently on his streams, he's been rolling a lot more, even pre-killscreen.
Andy and Fractal both are similar but the problem is Andy know how to build dirty tetris showed that different
on killscreen building well on right side is lethal
center well will more safety
A jack of all trades is a master of none, but still always better than a master of one.
Hey bro, could you give us ELO chart seen at 5:34 ? Anyways amazing video as usually
I've added it to the description, but you can also find it here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NUwqOotckIdSRH2FdfhBRHPU84N6EaRBM9BDkx5nDkU/edit#gid=1685146231 and thank you!

Did joseph retired ?
And then there's me who can't get a single tetris at level 0 🤓
We're no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I
Dog Andy Cheez for me. But if Nenu really mastered Rolling, He will be at least Top 4, genius stacking.
So is Andy the player to beat? Nah forget it, easy pick.. Dog will runaway with the event and three-peat in October at CTWC XIII.
I never watched this video
Those two brothers look nothing alike
am i the only one who has head cannon of andy and dog low key not liking eachother and being real rivals
You missed quoted the saying at the start. It's actually a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one. Get it right next time ya Zoomer.
lol play other games bro move on
