    Still working on my future chinese cave gecko enclosure. I have fears that I won't be able to maintain the humidity with AC on this summer since the plants haven't filled in the tank yet. Current place is super dry and requires 3 mistings a day in order to maintain good humidity. We'll see what it's like in the new place when I move and when I get the AC going.

      a hide with damp sphagnum moss in it will retain the humidity, so whenever it gets too dry your cave gecko will go in there

      A little late, but I use a fogger for my crested gecko.

    what is the backdrop? is that a sticker on the outside or plastic? Ive heard kingsnakes do not need UV light. Only lizards.

      Background is just standard foam background that a fairly destructive snake tore apart before she was upgraded
      Pretty much every animal can benefit from UVA/UVB

    You can find cholla wood natively in Colorado?

    • @JzsReptiles
      @JzsReptiles  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s a smaller kind than the stuff you’d find in pet stores but yes

    Looks good mate.what uv set up would you recommend for a brooks hatchling?watts etc?thanks

    • @JzsReptiles
      @JzsReptiles  Před rokem +1

      Lower wattage and uv output. Acadia is popular but has uneven gradients and is very bright for corpuscular animals so extra cover is ideal. I’ve started to experiment with the new vivtech sursun led bulbs with marked change and increases of natural behaviors in several species

      @@JzsReptiles I ain’t had a snake for 25 years and the technology has changed quite a bit.I ordered a 50 watt set up it’s meant to be for a 70 cm Viv so mine is 65 cms.it comes in a protective cage and has a dimmer dial and you can set it for 2 to 8 hours.the hatchling will grow fast but hoping the set up will last a year with any luck then I will treat it to a four foot set up!

    is it hard too clean using this kind of substrate when they poop? How long do change their substrate?

    • @JzsReptiles
      @JzsReptiles  Před 8 měsíci

      About the same as any other really and they get a full change a few times a year

      @@JzsReptiles So you just scope it up whenever you see poops and refill the substrate?

    Hi. How big is your snake ? Is he an adult? In your opinion do snakes prefer smaller or bigger enclosure ie would he prefer a bigger 120cm x 40cm x 40cm enclosure or this 40 gallon?

    • @Shades1535
      @Shades1535 Před rokem +3

      I would do at least a 4x2x2. Bigger is always better. Remember, there are no boundaries in the wild!
