The best part about this is not only that M2K was so shocked about winning, but also how it made Armada smile, even in defeat. It really warmed my heart to see Armada happy for his friend scoring the biggest win of his career. Amazing job M2K!

America's Imperialist It wasn't so much M2K falling off as it was the rise of his fellow gods and splitting his time between smash games that kept him from winning a Major event for 6 years and never winning a SuperMajor until now.
I come back to thing every so often just because it makes me so happy. I don't watch many tourneys, but this one was one of the exceptions. I really couldn't believe M2K was doing it after all these years, and seeing it live was one of the best moments.

26:51 is why I am always a Mew2King supporter. It's so honest. He had the robot tag for so long, he was Mew2Bot when I first got into Smash in 2012. But when it comes down to it, he's so straight-up. He's honest with his thoughts and emotions when things are going right, he's honest when they're going wrong. He proves that someone like me, born with a brain that's wired differently, can still succeed in a cutthroat world like competitive gaming. That no matter how many stream monsters and local randos talk shit about the way you were born, you can still shut them up on the screen, without having to bottle it up. That's something that honestly inspires me when I compete in my own game of choice. The existence of a Jason Zimmerman gives hope.
And moreso, he proves that you don't have to be an elitist. He was a Top 5 Brawl player, he did PM, he did Smash 4, he's gonna do Smash 5, he has CZcams, he has MVG, and he's still the King. It proves that you can love what you do, and do what you love, without becoming a one-track mind. And more than anything else, it's healthy for the mind. It's not that X is life. Life is life. And X makes it all the better. Just like Y does. And even Z. And we all need to remember that sometimes.

Yeah I watched this live and popped off harder than anyone else at summit when he won. I've been an M2K fanboy since he first started playing in the mid 2000s and it was amazing to see him finally get what he's deserved after so many years of competition. I think that this is going to go down as one of the greatest sets of all time, not only because of the level of play M2K showed, but because of the historic value of this being the #1 highlight of M2K's career. God I love Melee.

+America's Imperialist Smash Melee Payouts are the ones that have had the most out of all other smash games. You have to come in first to get paid good and consistently. Its been around longer for many previous tournaments but its all about being the best. At some point its all about the passion of being the best more than the money.

This may easily be my favorite Summit right up there with Smash Summit 1. The skits, Mario Party, the stakes of the pools matches, aMSa taking his 2nd set against the Top 6, Mang0 proving that the Bird is still alive, and Mew2King coming out of nowhere to win the largest invitational / one of the largest supermajors in Melee's history. Kudos to the staff at Summit for putting on an amazing show year round. This makes me want to go back to grinding Melee again.
For the record, hbox is actually his 3rd top 6 member. He has beaten m2k a few times and plup at GTX

Whoa it’s already been 5 years, hasn’t it? Still my favorite melee tournament of all time. Crazy how I had never heard of Zain before this, and now he’s been the best for multiple years in a row. And of course M2K’s un-popoff. Some of my favorite summit skits too.

Easily one of the greater tournaments I have watched and had the opportunity to follow almost entirely through stream. I am so glad for melee! So many new things to be seen. I don't know if I'll get anywhere, but the accident I made by discovering this game is something I can't live without. I wanted Mang0 or Armada to win but I can't say I'm unhappy.
