Following a successful soundset for Yamaha SY-77 with Analog & Ambient Sounds we decide to collect all SY series synthesizers.
And now - we made a careful selection of beautiful sounds for Yamaha SY-55!
With tuned original patches & our own sounds this machine can be a good analog emulated synth with vintage authentic tones!

Excellent demo! No annoying talking, just great examples of some of the best sounds that the SY55 can produce, well performed. I've been looking at one of these, you may have convinced me to go for it, thanks for posting.
I’ve got one and some of the presets are still excellent today especially for chunky dance sounds, the saxophone, syn bass, get lucky and the choir sounds are great
I’ve got one of these, the synbass, and saxophone are really good for punchy dance music.

I still have my SY55 and it still works fine!! Some sounds on it I can only get from there. I searched libraries and libraries but some sounds are really unique + the analog warmth still can't be truly reproduced in the digital emulations.
Yeah I love the syn bass and saxophone, really good for dance music

@@raphaelwolfgang2484 yeah I can’t believe it’s the sustained cowbell with a release filter that does that.
It shows that you can get good sounds from a rompler if you know to program them.
I keep watching videos on all the different types of synthesis like subtractive, additive, FM etc as I’ve got two others and I want to learn to make new sounds from scratch
@@TayWoode I did program a lot of presets on my SY55 back in the days and some I still use as they are unique

still have my TG-55 with patch memory and extra waveform cards. A very cheap sounding machine (20 bit D/A's) , although limited by polyphony 16 voices (which goes to 4 when layered) but multitimbral. Yamaha's answer to the Korg M1.

Does yours transmit full velocity to external gear? I just got one, seems the velocity curve doesn't change for midi out.
Not sure.
The SY-55 predates General MIDI so may be sending 100 at full velocity instead of 127.
I own this keyboard but it's doesn't work. Is it worth it to fix it or get a new one? It's very old don't make them anymore.
I bought mine new and one night the tuning went all wobbly a bunch of Japanese writing flashed up on the screen then it went off never to work again.
I bought the service manual from yamaha and found the fault 2 cpus blown on the main board costing more than a second hand unit I bought a replacement Synth for £60 don't know If I'd do the same now that prices are into several 100s
It's a good synth but not a great one.

Tweak release of adsr and make rev decay to max
Can't seem to find the release how do i access it cheers
The release is not listed in the instruction books or am i stupid
