As someone active on an A9 Subreddit and avid TD driver I've encountered some hostility there as well. Although now that I've sort of proven my worth by giving decent advice, post some data and wrote an FAQ for a great deal this is much less. And I just blocked some people that were blatant disrespectful. The thing is: I KNOW that with manual you can go faster. So yes, in that sense manual is better. But for me I just couldn't master it and at some point decided that TD works fine. Channels like this (and GWA, Nox Fury, Surgical Striker) were really helpful in for one showing how you can get better at TD (especially in GP's necessary) and not in the least give some confidence that TD is fine. TD is a legit option in the game. It is easier to master but for a not very competitive player like me it does the job. I have fun with a simulated fake race experience. Last but not least: I'm also convinced that GL somehow screwed up the controls/physics. A8 for me is terrible to play (I somehow managed to get 100 cars and to Career Season 8) and I think the engine is the same as in A9. In a Dev Chat I think 2021 they said something about hiring a new physics expert because knowledge wasn't there anymore and they were anxious to break stuff (my words). In other words: they have less knowledge of the physics engine (it got even worse if you realize how bad some barrel ramps work in the last few new locations). Instead of fixing the issues in A9 (I think the main issue is that a car gets wrecked really easy and the controls lack intuitivy - especially tap to steer, and overall the car can react unexpected for an untrained player) they created TD to work around this. I have to say, TD is a pretty good piece of work and works pretty well. But c'mon, why is manual driving in other mobile games so much better? Especially EA did a really good job in NFS No Limits where the controls are intuitive even for touch to steer (aka tap to steer in A9). You tap left or right to steer, you swipe down to start drifting and swipe up to use nitro. It's genious in it's simplicity. In A8 and A9's tap to steer you have these horrible buttons at each side of the screen and it just doesn't work as fluently as in NFS NL. With tilt it's a bit better, but tilting doesn't work for me, steering mid air is akward and I lack 'ground'. A big issue is also that car get wrecked by the slightest touch and you can lose controle of a car pretty quickly.
I'm playing Asphalt 9, i use TouchDrive too. the reason why I use TouchDrive : Easy to use when i play in MP & other, more advanced than the tap to steer. I play Asphalt 9 since February 2019 :)
Actually another curious note: I was about to give up on A9 since I was finding unfair noobs with TD beating me because I would easily crash with MD in the beginning. Speaking why TD is bad sometimes, 7:38 I did'nt hit the left car, as I espected to, but it took the ramp so low and bad that I wreck. When I finaly played with you 😂😂😅❤️
When the game was released... you could not hit that truck with TD. That only started happening due to noobs complaints about being KD'd at the start and TD cars not 'getting out their way' in the race. If that change was made to TD, then other things should have been done to take away that pointless handicap of hitting that truck.
I can't begin to express how much I appreciate this video and how inspiring your touchdrive skills are! I started playing Asphalt for the first time just shy of 7 months ago when I started playing A9 on the Switch. I started with manual drive, but was so frustrated after 3 weeks of trying to get the hang of it, I switched to touchdrive and never looked back. But I have still struggled to get good enough to beat the pro manual drivers. Seeing how far you've pushed touchdrive gives me hope that I still have more room to grow 👍
I played with TD, main reason I dnt have much time to play games, so manual mode make me frasustraed. But TD makes me cool and enjoying the game...if u have more time play Manual mode . And Multiplayer mode manual is best, so u can overtake your oppenant easily...
First tip, is don't call it the brake... then it is not a trick anymore... you press the drift to charge the nitro, it doesn't have to slow the car down.... (as it is not a brake) It is not a trick, it is just learning to charge the nitro when you can, which is a primary part of the game. If that is a trick, reloading your gun in COD is also a 'trick'.
I played A8 since 2018, with touch to steer. For A9 I found it so dificult to manage nitro which I think is a super upgrade from A8 to A9. I played a bit A9 but was so hard to learn the tracks, the cars and the nitro that it felt dificult to play. Then GP came to A9 and I finally started to understand the game.. specially with TD it became much easier to go from noob to pro, specially because I would miss all the ramps in MD and TD shows where the ramps are. Now, i play hybrid, and depends a lot on the tracks. If I have infinite tries on GP I do a TD and then try all manual to beat TD. A GP with 3 tries I need it to be mostly TD so I won't take any chances. A9 makes more sense with TD since we have a hard work on getting the perfect nitros.. MD is for better routes and not so focus on nitro management
I loved this video. I personally can't understand the huge hate TD gets either. And well if you arrived where you are with TD on that sounds like one day I can arrive somewhere close too. About A8 I can say I tried to play it and to me it's impossible. Tilt it's really absurd in that game. I liked the old N4S games, bc they had a good driving mechanism but new ones... Are weird. So yeah A9 with TD on it's the best for me. In A8 anyway before the way to drive my problem was graphics, they gave me nausea. I couldn't stare at the screen for more than two minutes and feel bad and stop. Lol. 😅 Sounds like a joke probably but it's not. I agree 100% on the corners thing with TD, and yea definitely much more fun with TD on! 😄
The hate makes no sense, as the game already controlled so much for the driver anyway... if people want a driving simulator, I wouldn't pick a game where cars fly. If people want to have fun gaming, I would pick A9 and let people play how they want to. My goal is to collect rewards, TD gets me the same as Tilt, but with less strain on my body and I have more fun in the process.

beyond the insider details to being PRO-TD. i also find a lot of different racing games on android DON'T have a set option for a TD kind of feature. to me, if a game makes me have to 'pretend i'm actually driving' then i might as well be in a VR headset or on a console with an actual controller setup.
First time i was really bad in TD, now i play TD while sleep and in map like scotland & san francisco at the time of speed trics and for proper steer i swich TD to tilt........⚡⚡
U said in tilt you can only stop drifting by straightening your car, but here's a tip, you can also stop it by pressing brake again, just dont press too fast or you will do a 360.
I play manual but I realy like that there's both options. I reckon it increases the size of the playerbase and opens it up to more casual players...too bad the grind closes it down but eh every game has its weakness eh?
If it wasn't for Grand Prix keys and some competitive events, manual wouldn't even be needed. I don't mind being ranked lower in MP because some people are sick manual players, just disappointed I can't get keys for GP cars but I see that we're getting key hunts now which we can get with some cash by buying a season pass, which is acceptable to me.
I have managed to win GP keys, and if you sandbag I don't think it makes a difference whether you are tilt or TD, it is just mastering the art of sandbagging.... (which I haven't, so I only won a few GP keys)

I felt that way about the acceleration and braking when driving tilt... so from my perspective letting it control one more thing is fine. I feel like I am surfing rather than driving when playing TD... the car is going to ride the currents and I have to manage it through the waves.... I just like it more.
I'm more of a hybrid now, there are just some tracks that have great shortcuts that isn't available in td. But I use a controller because swiping in my screen usually trigger my gestures and ruins my run.
Under my channel concept... I didn't need to 'explain myself'... but this way, I can send people a link that ask the question and make money out of their questions rather than lose time typing :)
I've tried over and over to learn manual but I can't get on with it. Wouldn't even consider myself a hybrid user, but there are times where I'll switch TD off, such as Bridge Finale, coming out of the tunnel hitting the barrel roll you want to go straight but the game throws you to the right

I have a similar story I started on asphalt 8 and I use to use tap to steer and I was the best at the game at that time I had a bunch of really good s class cars in the game but I couldn’t even tell the difference between them tho but anyway there was a update I updated my game and I lost all my cars so I stopped then I download Asphalt 9 i put it on tap to steer he’s just so weird to me I just couldn’t play the game at all I guess I just lost my skill so then I stop playing after a year or so when they let us use are controllers for are phones I just use that instead and it worked out great for me
I play on pc and started out with md then I watched a few youtube vids trashing td and I decided to give it a try and I enjoyed the game more my car felt faster I started talking corners faster and my win rate improved drastically I don't care who says what about td Im not going back to md never! People treat td like aim bot in fps games 😂
If people wanted to prove their driving skills, they shouldn't do it on a game with flying cars that have rocket boosters. This game is about fun, it is not a simulator and so TD or Tilt... both are fun. There is no manual drive in this game, there isn't even manual brakes or acceleration.
hey, i also enjoy play TD, i play asphat 8 for 5 years, and the difference at nitro confuses me at a9. btw the dont add the shortcuts cause TD would be very OP this way.

I think I modified the sensitivity once, but it makes little difference to the output. If you push it too far some swipes become double taps or vice versa. I think mine is set to 70
No you don't. I play since August, everyday, and I'm level 15. I cannot have started in january and have the same garage level already. And I play about 4 to 5 hours every day.

@@madathanuyear late but I quite prefer tap over tilt; came more naturally to me. I find it less overwhelming, ironically, compared to tilt. If I get stuck I'll switch TD on because I can concentrate better on the nitro management haha. Newbie here btw

actually tap on and off is more efficient for manual braking system because tilting and holding the brake can be extremely tough ,and brake nitro trick and brake nitro charging, sharper drifts and floaties are also other advantages of manual when the obvious advantages are excluded
Again... no brake... so those other 'tricks' as really badly named. Floats are easy in TD... drift nitro charging without losing speed... easy in TD... also car realignment is simple with TD with a drift flick.

The whole of Asphalt is arcade, no throttle, no brake, no gears... and in a cartoon world of Physics... I love it as a game, it is not a driving simulator imho. There is no difference in difficulty between tilt to steer and touchdrive, you just focus on different things and play a different game.
Controllers are better if hardwired I presume, but if bluetooth would have a delay that is a handicap. Also a bad keyboard would be a bad input method due to the 'time to depress' a key. Regardless of the input method, I presume you still can't turn off nitro without drifting in any of these control setups except TD.
I switched to touchdrive because my computer s S key doesn't make a drift although a double tap makes a 360. As the cars got faster, I didn;t have time to try to induce a drift with a 360 and hope the multi-key technique that bit and miss woiuld make a drift would wrok, so tried touchdrive: I use it because I can drift. Manual is much better for drafting and passing becuase touchdrive doesn't chase opponents down and draft and pass. Touchdrive, for my computer, allows the improved lap times from drifting anytime with surety.

TD requires a accurate mind to turning and keep the speed and TD also maintain speed but toggle youch drive is more usefull

I think using TD when in usual tracks,but at some places,we may use manual drive for shortcuts such as in mid US at the cave exit

In MP, I use touchdrive mode, because it's very easy. I use tap to steer in career and daily car loot. Very hard, if I use tilt mode
I don't find one harder than the other, I find myself more powerful with Touchdrive due to the nitro management style I like driving with.
I've tried over and over to learn manual but I can't get on with it. Wouldn't even consider myself a hybrid user, but there are times where I'll switch TD off, such as Bridge Finale, coming out of the tunnel hitting the barrel roll you want to go straight but the game throws you to the right
i see what you mean with touchdrive, but personally im still not confident with the maps enough to make those switches yet, but i had a feeling its what other people did, not to mention whenever a car has touchdrive on they feel like they just got the metal mario powerup i swear
Touchdrive is good cause it helps to keep patience and its easy for most people but I don't have that much of great cars like you so I stick with tap to steer but your TD gameplay is great.

I found the tilt to be too frustrating. If I switch it off, it changes to touch steering. I play laying on my side too much for the tilt.
I like tap to steer too, better than tilt

I have a similar story I started on asphalt 8 and I use to use tap to steer and I was the best at the game at that time I had a bunch of really good s class cars in the game but I couldn’t even tell the difference between them tho but anyway there was a update I updated my game and I lost all my cars so I stopped then I download Asphalt 9 i put it on tap to steer he’s just so weird to me I just couldn’t play the game at all I guess I just lost my skill so then I stop playing after a year or so when they let us use are controllers for are phones I just use that instead and it worked out great for me
The difference in Physics and nitro stuff between A8 and A9 makes switching between the 2 pretty confusing.

I play on pc and started out with md then I watched a few youtube vids trashing td and I decided to give it a try and I enjoyed the game more my car felt faster I started talking corners faster and my win rate improved drastically I don't care who says what about td Im not going back to md never!

If people wanted to prove their driving skills, they shouldn't do it on a game with flying cars that have rocket boosters.
This game is about fun, it is not a simulator and so TD or Tilt... both are fun.
There is no manual drive in this game, there isn't even manual brakes or acceleration.
I play on the switch. I have never used the touchdrive.
hey, i also enjoy play TD, i play asphat 8 for 5 years, and the difference at nitro confuses me at a9. btw the dont add the shortcuts cause TD would be very OP this way.

The differences between A8 and A9 in driving style are confusing if you try and play both or switch from one to another.

I think I modified the sensitivity once, but it makes little difference to the output.
If you push it too far some swipes become double taps or vice versa.

No you don't. I play since August, everyday, and I'm level 15. I cannot have started in january and have the same garage level already. And I play about 4 to 5 hours every day.

@@madathanuyear late but I quite prefer tap over tilt; came more naturally to me. I find it less overwhelming, ironically, compared to tilt. If I get stuck I'll switch TD on because I can concentrate better on the nitro management haha. Newbie here btw

You play in TD because you find it easy to play on mobile..But it will be a trouble if you will play on pc , laptop or ps

actually tap on and off is more efficient for manual braking system because tilting and holding the brake can be extremely tough ,and brake nitro trick and brake nitro charging, sharper drifts and floaties are also other advantages of manual when the obvious advantages are excluded
Tap on tap off is more efficient that tilt... yes... but less efficient for drifting that using press to drift in TD.
Again... no brake... so those other 'tricks' as really badly named.
Floats are easy in TD... drift nitro charging without losing speed... easy in TD... also car realignment is simple with TD with a drift flick.

Calling the drift button 'brake' is a reason why people don't press it enough. Those people naming it that incorrectly damaged people's perspective of the buttons capabilities.

The whole of Asphalt is arcade, no throttle, no brake, no gears... and in a cartoon world of Physics... I love it as a game, it is not a driving simulator imho.
There is no difference in difficulty between tilt to steer and touchdrive, you just focus on different things and play a different game.

I play on Keyboard and controller so its better for manual lol
Controllers are better if hardwired I presume, but if bluetooth would have a delay that is a handicap. Also a bad keyboard would be a bad input method due to the 'time to depress' a key.
Regardless of the input method, I presume you still can't turn off nitro without drifting in any of these control setups except TD.

I switched to touchdrive because my computer
s S key doesn't make a drift although a double tap makes a 360. As the cars got faster, I didn;t have time to try to induce a drift with a 360 and hope the multi-key technique that bit and miss woiuld make a drift would wrok, so tried touchdrive: I use it because I can drift. Manual is much better for drafting and passing becuase touchdrive doesn't chase opponents down and draft and pass. Touchdrive, for my computer, allows the improved lap times from drifting anytime with surety.
