  • Have you ever wondered what country travelers say has the rudest people? I did. I wish travel insurance covered a bad trip because people were rude.
So, I ran a survey and a poll to see what this channel's audience and tourists from around the internet felt was the rudest country. And when I say country, I mean the locals. Obviously, a country can't be rude. That won't stop people from leaving a comment about that.
Tourism accounts for a good portion of most economies. A lot of families and businesses depend on those tourism dollars. You'd think everyone would be on their best behavior. That isn't always the case. The countries on this list are the ones you guys felt had the rudest locals to the tourists.
Rude people and the worst countries to visit if you want to have a bad vacation.
Rudest people is obviously an opinion.
When traveling always get travel insurance.

I intentionally avoid rude people. I usually smile and make eye contact. If the person doesn’t at least match my energy I often don’t engage further. I try not to force things. This is important when traveling around the world or within USA 🇺🇸 being aware of our surroundings and feel the energy.

I was a sailor for 40 years and have been around a good bit of the world. I have found rude people everywhere but far more nice people in the same places. You can't judge a country by an encounter with someone who was rude to you. Also, how do you know that person isn't having a really bad day? We've all been rude at some time in our lives. Just apologise for bothering the person and move on.

Im a kiwi living in Australia and Im in Rome right now. I have never experienced such rudeness in my life. I was trying to make my way from Rome Termini but all the gates were locked, there is no signage, so I went up to a "customer service" booth and the young woman in there actually yelled at me because I said all the gates are locked. Go down further she said, and rolled her eyes. I said to her "you don't need to be so rude, we are friendly to strangers in my country". Im sure she rolled her eyes again lol. But seriously it has been such a culture shock. No one smiles. Awful people.

I was in Russia in 2017 and didn’t have any problems. Several times local people helped me in directions. The first day in the Moscow subway system a little Russian grandmother showed me how to scan the ticket to go down to the trains. In the station I was reading the station name ( Cyrillic, none of this bilingual stuff ) A fellow came up and very friendly said, “You look like you’re lost. Where are you trying to go? I just got back from New York.” I’ve been in numerous countries and have found lots of helpful friendly people. In France, speak French, even if it isn’t perfect.

And when they encounter someone who doesn't speak English, they think if they SHOUT it at him, he will magically begin to understand the language. That's not how it works.
They eat at McDonald's in Paris, leave garbage in churches, wear shoes in mosques, and show up in shorts and teeshirts at temples and other holy places. They barge into stores waving U.S. dollars (which they think should be accepted everywhere), and they expect to be waited on before others who were there first.

It's why they constantly need to spread their vomit on other nationalities, to compensate their inferiority complex. The French are rude, for sure. It's probably why France is still the most visited country in the world, with about 90 million tourists each year. Maybe the ones who come here are all masochistics, i guess. This "rude French" thing is an Anglo US invention and is nothing but a big pile of B.S. It's called cultural differences. As for Parisians, they are normal people like in any other place. As someone living in the Paris area, i've often tried in the past to communicate in English with foreign tourists, whom English speaking tourists. As someone who worked in (and commuted to) London for a number of years, this is an absolutely true observation. Arrogant (especially if they think you are "somehow inferior", unwilling to have a conversation, and generally extremely insular, on a par with Parisiennes. As for Russians? An entirely different culture, and, yes, they don't smile much since they are not as superficial as Westerners. My experience in Italy was that the people went out of their way to be nice and helpful, especially in restaurants. In Ravenna, we cruised into town and couldn't find an open restaurant to get get some lunch (it was off season so a lot of places were closed). We drove by one that had some lights on so I went in to see if they were open. The owner said they were closed, but he would feed us on the condition we ate whatever they gave us. We got a fabulous seafood meal, three different fish, an appetizer, wine and dessert for about $30. After we were finished with our meal, we asked the owner to pass our compliments along to the chef whom we then found out was his wife. She then came out to meet us we told her how great the food was. We thanked them for their great hospitality and talked for about 10 minutes and then we were on our way. I only regret is I can't remember the name of the restaurant so that others might be able to enjoy it also. This is just one of the many great encounters we had while we were there for 2 weeks.

Rudeness is very common in touristic areas no matter where you go. One reason might be the stress when dealing with tourists. Tourists who think they own the place, screaming children because they are too tired and parents not giving a darn thing about that, people who think they can do whatever they want and find it perfectly normal if after they leave the restaurant a high pressure cleaner is required to clean up the mess they created, the ever present drunken people, aggressive tourists operating in groups looking for a fight, toilets which resemble a swimming pool because people don't seem to know how to use a toilet,... The lack of respect in general. Be respectful even if something goes very wrong and look for a working solution instead of making endless demands. It makes life easier for yourself and for the anyone involved. On top of that, you might get more in return than you expected. A better question to ask might be which tourists are the worse. An other thing to consider is the mentality of the owners of restaurants pubs and bars in touristic areas looking to rip of people by serving the worse food possible. My advice is to go to non touristic areas. The food is good and worth the money, the people are correct pleasant and friendly, everything is clean. And probably most important: they want you to enjoy the stay in their place and they want you to return next time. In touristic ares, you're just a number and those who don't return will be replaced anyhow.

I was out working at a hotel somewhere in Cavan. Thing is with Irish folks “excuse me” is a quick casual “sorry.” Very easy going like.
I’ve gotten really use to this so I was thrown into a state of shock when outside binning something this loud voice goes “Excuuuuse me mate. How do I activate the level to leave the parking lot??” He had his ticket in hand and hadn’t realised how to feed the machine on the way out. I wasn’t an employee and just said “I’d say I’m not sure but maybe feee the ticket into the till. But I can’t be sure.” He got all bent out of shape and said “oh forget it forget it mate I’ll GO IN and ask him he hotel boy!!” I wished him luck. Two minutes later himself and his mate came out all “ just wave the ticket in front of it Simon.” Five minutes later as their truck with yellow plates wheezed out the lot I could hear a distant “excuuuuse me mate how do I get ta tha Dublin road?” These guys wanted everything done for them. I think I heard the guy they were barking at say “follow the signs for Cork and don’t stop.” 😂😂😂

Depends on if you can actually comprehend them saying something meaningful in their Language. Maybe some of them just shy to say up-front? Maybe some of them just getting a straight up bad education? Just some of them learning the foreign Language from movies and TV-shows? Maybe, they really don't mean that way at all. It depends on the circumstances. And most importantly, how you perceive it.

I think what some people consider as rudeness may be a matter of cultural ignorance. For example, if you don't say a greeting to a French person before you make your request, they will ignore you, etc., because they think that you are being rude.
Also, most people travel to Paris, and there they tend to have less tolerance for visitors. Even the rest of France say negative things about Parisians. In reality, there are nice and rude people everywhere.

I am Italian and I think I can explain: we Italians, the Spaniards, the Greeks, the French, the Turks, and in general all the peoples of the northern Mediterranean, have a large influx of tourists in our cities. We especially hate the flocks of Chinese tourists that invade the squares and sidewalks. The fact is that tourists often take up too much space, invading streets that simply weren't made to accommodate so many people. Sometimes a walk to catch some cool breeze in the city center in August becomes a torture for how many people are around. We are noisy, it is true, but we hate chaos. Another problem is the soaring prices in tourist areas. We are used to spending no more than € 1 for a coffee, and paying even € 1.10 is a robbery for us. Bartenders charge tourists more and some have begun to differentiate prices for locals and foreigners to avoid complaints from fellow countrymen. Another thing that sends blood to our heads is when tourists sit or lean on pieces of stone scattered around the city, which are actually 600-year-old fountains, 2000-year-old column capitals, or 200-year-old stairways that are made to walk on it, and not to have a picnic. We are fanatics of respect: respect the city, and do not take pictures of the citizens, because they may ask you to delete the photo with rather aggressive tones or, alternatively, to pay them.

I've found that after doing just one thing a French person will be among the nicest and least rude people you can meet. Just be sure to greet a French person with: "Bonjour, madame" or "Bonjour monsieur." instead of just saying: "Where is the...?", Say: Bonjour Madame ....?" It's been my experience that once you show respect to a French person (greeting him or her with the polite greeting) that French person is likely to show mutual respect to you.

0:38 Many visitors to Greece have had positive experiences with the locals, finding them to be kind, warm, and helpful. Personal experiences can vary, and it's important to consider the individual encounters and interactions when forming an opinion about a country and its people. It's important to note that attitudes and behaviors can vary within a country. While some people may have encountered instances of rudeness in certain areas of Greece, it doesn't necessarily reflect the behavior of the entire country. Different regions within Greece may have their own unique characteristics and social norms.Different cultures have different norms and expectations when it comes to social interactions. What may be perceived as rude in one culture might be considered normal or acceptable in another. It's possible that some behaviors in Greece that are seen as rude by some visitors are actually part of the local culture and are not intended to be disrespectful.

And I see tourist reactions and vlogs all the time saying how friendly, open and helpful Americans are, even though we are on this list. And yes, having been to Paris, it is a very busy and bustling city. Yet it looks like a wonderland of amazing architecture and parks. I found Parisians away from the tourist landmarks to be very friendly. But, I did mostly interact over wine and beer, which always helps. hahahaha
