My essentials were an extra long phone charger, water bottle with a straw and my midwife said best thing to eat is jelly sweets and plenty of pads, you go through so many! The silverettes for breastfeeding are also a must xx

Definitely bring a handheld fan! Hospitals are SO hot I swear the fan was the only thing getting me through labour. I would bring another long T-shirt or nightshirt, you get night sweats after birth & also blood can leak so easily so better to have extras x

  • @AmeliaRane

A dark coloured towel! Also, take something like a porridge or noodle pot, if you have baby in the middle of the night then the kitchens will be shut, this happened to me and all they could offer me was fruit basically but thankfully I had a porridge pot they could put hot water in for me.
And if you’re planning on breastfeeding, definitely don’t use a dummy in the first 6 weeks because you want to make sure baby can establish a good latch etc.
Other things (sorry if I missed them and you have packed them) - nappy bags/sacks, nappy bag changing mat is super helpful to have on you and if you can, take your own pillow x

A handheld fan!!! I was so thankful to myself for taking it 😂 Before & after my C-section I had it on me at all times cos hospitals are so bloody hot 😅 Wishing you all the luck in the world Molly, one piece of advice, enjoy every second!!!! My baby boy was born at 32 weeks +spent 4 weeks in NICU, he’s now almost 8 months +it makes me so sad how fast everything has gone. ❤

Defo don’t worry about taking a dummy, for my baby girl she learnt to self settle without a dummy but has found her thumb and uses that to settle sometimes. People say it’s easier to get rid of a dummy than to stop sucking a thumb but she only uses it to settle to sleep and doesn’t suck it all the time x

Some nappy bags for bubba, I’d also pack a couple more muslins, my baby was really mucusy after birth and was sick a lot. I needed more than I packed. Also I was thankful for packing some simple bralettes, that’s what I wore giving birth and was comfy and easy to pull up. A bottle with a straw, your own paracetamol because sometimes it can take a while to get meds from the nurses after birth. Extra long charger and hair bands too

What you have done for the going home outfit, I would do the same for first outfit. This helped my husband a lot and meant he wasn’t going through lots of different bags when my baby was first born xx

Kendamil isn't supplied in hospitals like cow and Gate etc so definitely take more than you need as we started to run out when the nurses were feeding him and I was breast feeding aswell and ended having to go and find more

U need readytofeed bottles of formula. Because theres usually no facility for u to wash and sterriliser bottles in hospital. Also long sleeved vests if hes born in the colder months

I will be completely honest, as a first time mum, I bought all the Frida mom essentials and the only holy grails I used were the pads and their disposable underwear, I cannot rave about them enough. The rest you won’t use i.e cooling liners and pads - i end up giving mine away and it was a total waste of money x

Id say a foldable baby changing mat - my hospital didnt have anything like that and i had to change my girl on the crusty bed sheets. Also a nice blanket for yourself x

Nursing bras, lip balm, water bottle with straw. Don’t bother with the dummy if you don’t want to use it. Also I’d go for another pair of pjs incase you stay in. You won’t need the pramsuit or the socks and mittens. He will be warm enough in the car seat with just a blanket over him, it’s very easy for babies to overheat, especially in cars ❤

I didn’t bring a dummy but ended up having to buy one in the hospital (I was there for 3 days). My poor baby was unsettled and as soon as he got the soother/dummy he had the longest calmest sleeps.

Take an extra long phone charger!
More sanitary pads as you won’t believe how many you go through!
    Water bottle with a straw

Pleasee dont use a blanket in baby cot when your home, by sleeping bags you can get so many nicd and different ones even in vinted or supermarket's,
In the hosptial its different as theres always someone watching bsby,
My boy was 4 days over due and he stayed in for a week due to poor feeding he wouldnt latch, or take to a bottle so they hsd to tube feed him till he gained the weight as he was 510 born and droppwd to 5.6 .
Also if you were both small babies i suggest taking a oack of aize 0 nappies in £4 in asda for pampers .. we only had aize 1 and wr needed smaller ones ans couldnt find anywhere for weeks snd lucklly my brother n wife ordered a fair few online . Littlr tip too as baby gets bigger if they leake out their nappies constantly...size up everytoke my boy does it ot means he needs a bigger nappy hes now soze 3 at 6 months .
And pack baggy clothes n inderwear .. i ended up with stitches snd csusd my son eas stjll in hosptial i did alot of walking to the eard he was on to mine snd thr friction....ouch 😢.
Soon as i was homd i was ok .
We also didng givd our son a dummy straigjt away was only when nurses asked to try him on one to see if he could take to a boytle then and same dsy he drank fromma bottle becsuse he liked a dummy ... but he doesnt rely on it at all everyone says oh givd him s fummy hes crying .. but he spitd it out .. he has 4 different ones eith different teats he loved them all but we can go a ehole day without it dont have to worry about taking it shopping either causd he doesng xare for it .
