You’re probably right. And showing their new livery on the same day as Mercedes was certainly not going to help, because, no matter how good the McLaren car might be, most eyes will be on Mercedes. After all, they have the 7x WC driving for them.
Anyway, I can’t wait for this year’s season to start. It would be great if we can have four teams to battle for wins. Probably not going to happen, but you never know. 😊

The livery inspired of the triple crown at the back, the chrome numbers from silverstone livery, the singapur stealth mode and the cancelation of blue looks stunning.

Cancelation of blue is awful. It's a beautiful blue and as an accent, it looked awesome.
Blue and orange are complimentary. Orange and black with blue is still a - as far as color ways go - a legit combination

Didn't Zak Brown say that they wanted to do more special liveries? So maybe this is sort of a 'base' livery and they'll launch a special "start of season livery" at the launch, kind of like the BWT thing.
I want a team to run a wind tunnel livery. The all orange with black lines and black wheels looked actually really cool. Would be fun for the test session
McLaren have run all orange cars in pre-season testing several times over the years.

The fact its a classic Malboro livery just black and orange rather than red and white.

14 Feb is also Ash Wednesday this year, so any "bad" launches can be classed into puns of ashes and disaster too.
Remember the days you'd only find out who drives for a team during these launch events?

Tbh insiders sorta killed any possibility of that.
They also haven't added Monster energy green yet as well. That may come at the launch on Feb 14th.

Yes, this livery is way better than the last one. I personally still prefer glossy colours but still this bangs. But that OKX logo is so weird and that makes the whole livery look so bad. Something slick or even something in a regular font would look way better.

It looks good, I really enjoy the rear orange. The thing is that there will be many more cars with black liveries and all look the same. I miss full color, but yeah as long as it is closer racing it is good

Would have loved something similar to the silver one from last year, but this is nice too.
But am I the only one who didn't hate the blue bits? I thought they were fine, but this is also nice without that.
Would be cool to see teams experiment with tinted carbon fibre, so many opportunities for cool liveries by tinting the carbon. I understand that it would add so much more lead time to parts than just wrapping it, but one can live in hope.
I think kind of references all three special liveries from last season, with the chrome numbers with the chrome livery, the striped style for the triple crown livery, and the colours of black and orange referencing to the stealth livery for Singapore.

Matt, there are actually many Chrome emblems on the bodywork too, it's just hidden within the black carbon fibre using Incognito mode
The orange primer and chrome wings looked pretty cool in the video. Personally, this livery feels the same as the last one. It’s better in the same way that it’s better to have enough butter to spread across your whole piece of toast than just half.
@p1 will they ever introduce the led numbering/positioning that they use in endurance/indy? think that would look sweet, any thoughts

I liked the light blue on the older liveries, but as Tommy mentioned, it was mostly because of Gulf. So it was a bit awkward later down last season when Williams showed up in blue and orange because of a... Gulf sponsorship. It felt a bit like the spiderman meme

If I would have the paint brush and change that liver to make it a 10 I would just put the 2020 livery on. Something about the rainbow on the side pod was just perfect which you can argue whatever you want about the politicalness of that. But I just think the color combo of the orange and the blue and then throw in that rainbow is spot on

I have watched hundreds of videos with these two on this channel and the one before. When this video popped up I was sure I was watching Matt and Max Fosh posing as Tommy 😂

There should be a big event in Monaco where the champion gets his award, the teams present their new cars and they will compete in a showcase 3 lap fastest lap session

It was Max who said something with "whatever it takes" in an interview last year, when he was asked about Alonso and Aston Martin progress in 2023? I think he said that some teams want to do whatever it takes to succeed, or something like that.
They were willing to drop the blue for the acceleration gain. Whatever it takes to win am i right?

Question Matt - how do you clip the images of you for the video thumbnails? Do you literally take photos of yourself after recording; pulling crazy faces until you find the right one? Just curious 🤣
I think the only 2 interesting ones will be Stake and what was Alpha Tauri as these will be actual new brands. I would love it to be more exciting, but my expectations for livery launches are low. Everyone else will go safe with minor tweaks to what they have been running for 2+ years.

I think mclaren launched the livery so early to let it sink in and then in 14 feb they announce a special livery partner with monster for the first few races

The chrome numbers on the Papaya™ section are so hard to see in the renders. Between the stylized font and illegible color contrast-they aren't doing a great job of identifying which McLaren you're looking at-especially with both drivers having a lot of yellow on their helmets. Glad they dropped the blue, though. 8/10.
Looks like they removed some more paint, maybe they're still struggling with weight limits

I remember in 2020 someone made a fan livery for McLaren which looked very similar to the 24 livery. I also remember people were digging that livery hard so I don't understand the hate now

Look closely at the black/orange pattern. There is a resemblance to the red/white Marlboro McLaren pattern, isn't there?
I feel like this is a test livery and seeing peoples reactions and then change it at the launch.
