Seriously though, what is going on in Australia? The vast majority of my favorites over the past couple years all come from that country and every day I'm introduced to more and more great musicians from oz
As I understanding it (but don't ask me for details!), the Australian government supports musicians, and as a result more musicians are inclined to actually give it a go. Turns out that lets a lot of great musicians make enough of a living to keep at it and be heard. Repeat after me, rest of the world: Support the Arts!

and the chemistry between the bandmates, the band looks like endless inside jokes and that makes it delightful to watch

I've been a big fan for years, she reminds me alot of the smiths. Serious subjects wrapped up beautiful melodies. Awesome songwriter.

God she seems so lovely. Her music is just so delicate and beautiful, and her voice is absolutely angelic. Hearing the Australian accent in music I like is always a big plus too!

San Cisco, Tame Impala, now Stella Donnelly all from Fremantle in Western Australia! Prolific little town isn’t it. I love Perth and Fremantle’s music scene, and I agree with Stella, the isolation of the Australian west coast distils artist and their work into a lot of fine quality #perthisok
Wise beyond her years and with a voice that goes so many places and speaks to so many things, Stella Donnelly seems comfortable in almost any musical genre.
Beware of the Dogs is one of the best songs of the year! What a song :)

Met her after one of her gigs last week at a festival. Was really cool to chat for even a minute with someone whos music i love and whos making her way up in the industry. Shes just as real onstage as she is off and it was lovely to see.
Wonderful! I did not know what to expect. Beautiful singing voice. I love the band's light, yet colourful playing. Perfect for what Stella needs to sing on.

Had heard of Them a few months ago with the song 'Tricks' on a local hip radio station! Instantly was pulled in and was intrigued, then inevitably literally started listening to Beware of The Dogs two days before this KEXP performance was uploaded! Wow though, undoubtedly am I blown away by the shear creativity and originality! Keep up the great work KEXP, Cheryl Waters and of course the lovely Stella Donnelly and crew!
Watching Telly is just amazing on this session, the best performance for me. I think I like that song a million times more from now on.
She is just fantastic. I'm captured every single time.
If ever Stella and her band play in your town, they are a must see. Saw her play a little over a week ago in Perth with Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and if the two ever two tour together, you will have one of your best musical experiences ever! Go Stella - the world is waiting for you.

Why Australia and Canada? Healthcare!!! Middle class kids can spend their twenties exploring their poetry without needing to get mired down giving the man 40 hours a week. Sweden too!
We still have huge economical issues affecting us here, plus housing is absolutely ridiculous atm, i'd say that's one of the worst things here. But yeah good bands!
The current conservative government is in the process of dismantling all that great funding.
Eh Canada’s economy still got us sweating
I strongly hate our healthcare system here in the US, and I also hate our emphasis on work over the arts. But we’re still pumping out just as many incredible, unique artists as we always have. We just need to remember to keep fighting for additional funding. Not to make this political, but Yang and the decently positive perception of UBI was a great step in the right direction for people to have the ability (and capital) to explore the arts a little further.
Also, Sweden? I might be ignorant, but I don’t hear much about Swedish artists doing anything particularly groundbreaking?
