Growing up a young punk the Clash soon became my favourite and this heavily slagged album was, and still is my favourite, even nearly 40 years later,a musical masterpiece,never surpassed. The baseline never tires.

When it came out it passed our acid test ... If a record still sounded great after embarking on a trip it was a keeper this one was one of my faves of 1980

I remember hearing The Clash for the first time in my isolate Northern town. I went out the next day, bought the double album London Calling and cut my hair like Joe Strummer. I bought this triple album at the same store a couple years later. It still holds up 4 decades later. The only band that matters.

After 39 years after I first heard it, still feels so fresh, and more than that, something that you can listen now and think that its like the new thing, you know?... a feeling I rarely find in music that gets me excited in a cool way.
Reason #556 of why I love The Clash: They took an off the wall statement by Ltc. Kilgore and turned it into an amazing song. I can never hear this without being transported directly into Apocalypse Now! Rock on! Miss you Joe!
Apocalypse Now will always be the be the best movie of all time in my opinion.
Toppers 50s early Rock on Roll kick on this Track is what makes it. Topper the Human Drum Machine. It's reminiscent of a sort of buddy Holly vibe with the way Topper kicks that beat with the others falling in. Very visual.

I was at Bonds when the Clash played Sandanista. There were fire marshals counting every person leaving the place. That was the last night they ever were open. Bonds had been around for at least 15 years, yet it was all gone that night.
My dad played it to me as a kid, im 40 now. And i get it more than ever. Ive collected over a 1000 records now... still one of my favs.

I remember being a lot younger listening to this, getting smoked out, enjoying life in So. Cal. When it was still cool.
When what was cool, The Clash or burnin' one down? Grew up in the South Bay, SoCal punk capital n no punkers there have this album or burn anymore, yuppie ghetto drunk pill poppers or straight edge construction workers that don't even know Sting was in The Police, lames. Times change, for better or worse?

One of the better tracks of the álbum.
I still believe that Sandinista could have been a great double album, if all the self indulgence and filler material were left out, it was incredibly experimental, the good tracks were too short, while the average ones were too long.
I still love " Corner Soul" and Up In Heaven (not only here), as for side six, the ideas had run out and Clash were repeating themselves..

@@tatianawilliams Seriously...I'm just disappointed in myself for really truly discovering them only recently. I mean I knew the radio hits but I had no idea they had so many great songs...and I was in my teens when they were in their prime. Same goes for discovering the Mescaleros and learning how good a person Joe Strummer was.
