Charley, consider doing some of the USA Back Country Discovery Routes instead. Less time commitment and time away from your family but great riding for the bikes you like to ride. You could do seasons worth of episodes on these routes. Idaho BDR on the DesertX, Wyoming BDR on the 1300 R1300 GS Adventure, Colorado BDR on the Tenere 700, or any combination you can come up with.

The U.K. is stunningly beautiful and few people realise it...a tour of the U.K. would be a unique and interesting program followed up by a trip around the equally sized New Zealand and no less stunning...

I notice Charlie holds the bars and rests his left hand on guards and has a finger over front brake like I do- must be a round the world biker style (Rupert - the KTM rider from Zambia 2007)

88kg Charlie... 😂 That's not heavy. Iam about 105 and wondering if I should do some suspension work on my world raid? Not really had any issue with it though and don't want to change it just because the forums say I should. Desert x is a weapon and had I the funds I would have bought one as its so retro Dakar.

Agree with you, and Charlie, springs is hugely personal and unfortunately can be hugely expensive, I think many of us get caught up in social media and forums and feel pressure that our bikes are not good enough and we have to change things.
I thought it was really interesting that Charlie's spring expert couldn't find a great deal wrong with the springs and how he talked about some ADV bikes having terrible spring and how people use them
For the record, I'm around 100 kg without all the shit I have on myself and the bike, I ride a 22 model Tenere 700 Rally, I might occasionally go on a gravel road or farm track, but that's it, for the rest I am on tarmac, so spending a bucket load on spring tuning is for me not needed, part of the reason I bought a T7 was because of its price, I saved up for 4 years to get my T7.
For me I just felt the rear spring was just struggling with my combined weight of me and luggage, so I just replaced the spring with a stiffer unit, very cheap and everything has been fine, the front is still not perfect, but for me less problematic as the rear, so I would just say if you have charlies money and connections, get the whole bike custom tuned, but if like me just just try the cheap option first ;-)

@@ObanHighlander exactly right. Very easy to get pulled into the armchair racer have to do mods thing. It's all relative to what you do, your skill levels etc.
