Tamiya Subaru Brat Sand Rally Action!

- My new Tamiya Subaru Brat on the ORV chassis takes to the sands at Sandy Bottom for a bit of rally action! The stock RWD chassis and tyres struggled a little in the deep sand but the little 1/10 RC truck did very well and was a lot of fun out there!
I did most of the filming of this one with my GoPro on a stick. The driving was done by my mates Rob @robbrennanrc and Dom @rc-dom-uk , you can get a glimpse of them at the end of the video! Thanks guys for a great day out!
This is the first video I have edited using Microsoft Clipchamp. I'm still learning how to use all the controls. The colour adjustments and the slomo rendering is actually pretty good, what do you reckon?
The Subaru Brat is totally stock except for ball bearings and a Tamiya Torque Tuned motor. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Ahhhh, that was so nice to watch, Mark. That green on the Brat looks wicked! And kicking up all that sand... 🤤 🤤 🤤
Thanks Fil and glad you enjoyed it! Not done many green RC’S but pleased with the way this one turned out! Well mate, you gotta kick up some sand when at Sandy Bottom!!! Cheers! 🍻🙌👍😁
So much nostalgia. Got one of these for Christmas in the 80s. Terrific present. No longer have the Brat but still have the boxed Acoms RC system. Subscribed with pleasure
Oh yes, nostalgia in spades with these classic Tamiyas! What a great present to get, sad it's gone! Many thanks for the sub, much appreciated! 😎👊👍
Slinging dirt around just never gets old, does it? "I've had enough.." 😆
Oh yes, slinging sand and dirt is my favourite thing! Haha, yeah I did too much running with the camera, my old heart can't take it! 😅😬👍
@MarkBryanRC Haha, love it! You guys capture the essence well on camera. Much appreciated 👏
Glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your kind comments! 🙏😎👍
Ouyeah, Mark, goodtimes in the sandpit!
Oh yes, this is the perfect RC playground! Thanks for watching mate! 😎👍
Your car your channel and you end run around after it! lol Brilliant stuff guys and love the deck chairs set up! Looks my cup of tea that does!
Haha, ain't that right mate?!?!?! 😅 And at my ripe old age!!! nearly had a heat attack running after the Brat, I blame Rob! 🤣 Good job we tool the deck chairs so I could rest my legs! Cheers, James! 🤗👌👍
Ha ha hitting the sand pit hard with the brat beauty!!! Nice action Mark!
My first sight of the Brat was in my mum's Marshall Ward or Gratton catalogue in the early 80s. Another timeless Tamiya classic.
Oh man, I remember staring at mum's Grattan catalogue, too! But yeah, definitely a classic Tamiya, this one will never grow old! 😎👊👍
@@MarkBryanRC in the RC section I hope 😂
@@dwarfyh32 I definitely know what you are talking about dude! 😅😅👍👍
Amazing stuff Mark! That’s such a good spot of Dom’s to blast the cars and this one looked right at home pal 🙌🏻
Hi Craig, glad you enjoyed it pal! Oh yes, we keep heading back to Sandy Bottom, as you say it really is a top spot for a little RC fun! Cheers mate! 🤗👊👍
perfect spot for the bratt to perform that makr shes looks well at home on the sand man 😎😎
Cheers matey - yeah Dom has a great stomping ground that he introduced us to! The sand makes for some great RC action, just gotta watch out for all the bloody holes!! All the best, brudda! 😎👍👌
The Brat looked great out there.
Thanks Joe, it was a lot of fun out there! 😎👍
great run mate 👍 thanks for the mention 👍 i might well get another brat 🤔
Cheers buddy, well you did do some of the driving for me! Definitely worth getting another one mate! 😎👌👍
Another brilliant video Mark. Take care & look forward to the next one 😊👍
Glad you think so Kim! Thanks, you too! 😎🙏👍
No... don't call it a day!! Wow, I really enjoyed this film Mark - for me a perfect union of vehicle and environment. Such a great match. I love my Brat and it's oddball chassis too, I just need to buy a basher shell. Not sure who was filming but some awesome moments were captured on this one. Very impressive. Enjoy your weekend man..😎👍🏻🙂
No worries mate, it was only a day for this one! We had been doing "batch filming" for about 4 videos and I was completely wasted by the end of the day! My old legs struggle these days! But thanks for the kind words, I personally liked the end result, too! Not everyone's cup of tea though so it seems. It was me running around like a madman in the sand and it really payed it's toll on my old bones! The weekend was great thanks, hope yours was too! Cheers, mate! 😎👊👍
Love the color mark!
Thank you Paul, well I think it's a nice change from the usual Subaru blue!! Cheers! 😎👌👍
Gotta get them steps in 👍 look’s awsome kicking up the dirt 😎
Too right, Richard, it's the only exercise I get these days! 😅Thanks mate! 😎👌👍
What a wonderful video! I love the terrific shots, perhaps - or even probably - the work of Rob, I imagine, while Mark drove the Brat and Alfie relaxed in the chair.
Seriously though, Mark - this is superb.
Thanks Del! Haha if only Alfie was here to do the running instead of this 60 year old git!!! 😅 Glad you appreciated this one though Del, it means a lot to know that you enjoyed it! Take care mate! 😎👊👍
@@MarkBryanRC You too, Mark.
Awesome bash with the Brat! Fantastic camera work!👍😊
Thanks Jeremy! It was hard work running after the Brat with a GoPro on a stick, I blame Rob for driving to fast! Cheers! 😅🍺👌👍
Great run today dude! Such a nice green dirt rocket! I am a little envious as everything is icy cold and death-winds here. 😂😂🤘🤘
Cheers dude 👍 oh yeah this was a couple of months back, we got those death winds here too now!!! And bloody rain 🌧! All the best my friend! 😎👊👍
Another awesome build out to the test. lol 1:20 Yeah I LIKE that. A lot!! Perfect use, of the slo-mo.. :) Mark? This thing looked GREAT out there bud. What a classic look, The Subaru Brat. Iconic. Enjoyed the footage, really getting in there. Love It!!
Thanks Nick - yeah we did put the truck through it's paces and it held up well! The ORV chassis is a tried and tested Tamiya for sure. I liked that slomo clip too, sometimes you gotta slow it down to appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed it my friend, take care and best wishes from Mark! 😎👊👍
G'day Cobber! 😃
Great video mate, that colour looks spot on👌. It went so well through the sand!. Thanks for sharing your video mate, We hope you're enjoying the week 👍🤠🙋♀️🦘🇦🇺
G'day my upside down friend! Great to know you enjoyed the show and the Green Machine!!!
Yeah, it did OK for a RWD truck on road tyres! Always cool to know you and Ingrid are watching, Cobber! Thanks a ton, you two take care now and have a smashing week too! 😎👌👊👍
@@MarkBryanRC
I always thought they were 4wd until your video😳. Thanks Cobber from us both🙃upside down ones😂👍
Oh yes Wayne, the Tamiya is RWD but the real Brat is 4WD!!! 😅 Very Tamiya! Hope you have a great day my Cobbers down under! 🤗👌👍
Great looking RC awesome film edits and thanks for your upload mate 👍🙏🐱
Thanks Cat 🐈 and glad to hear you enjoyed this one! Many thanks for your support mate! 🙏 🤗👍
Sweet Mark, I do love that spot. I could do with one here for running the Tamiya's 🙂
You and me both, Mal! Good job we got to know Dom and he introduced us to his favourite spot! 😎👍
@@MarkBryanRC You was Lucky then with that spot. For sand I have to get a train to Southend 🙂
Yeah it is lucky, but a 30 mile drive to get there! 🤗👌👍
@@MarkBryanRC That's quite a drive, train only 20mins.
Great run
Thanks Thad! 🙏👍
Awesome run my brother!!!!
Thanks a ton bro! These ORV's are a lot of fun! Cheers! 👍
Excellent video Mark.
Glad you think so Derek! I ran my little old legs off filming this one mate! 😅😬👍
@@MarkBryanRC 😄😄👍🏼👍🏼
Great video. Awesome subaru👏 👌💪
Glad you liked it!! Much appreciated! 😎🙏👍
Hey great action Mark and well done for running about as long as you did! You did sound a bit knackered at the end there 😄 You guys have a great little base camp with chairs and everything! I bet there is a picnic hamper too 🤣 Good to see the Brat out again. I can't remember if you have done the hard body on this yet? Anyway we are off to see the panto in Southampton tonight (oh yes we are etc.) which is always fun. Have a great weekend mate 😁👍👍
Hi there Pete! Oh yes I was proper knackered after all that running mate! It was at the end of a long day of filming loads of RC cars and I'd had enough! We need the chairs at our age! No hamper but definitely some sarnies! But no, not done the other body yet and now the weather is crap. We'll see how it goes. Oh no you ain't off to the panto!!! Hope all is well and have a great Sunday 👍 👌 😊
Great run Mark. Is there more commming? If you use camping chairs I suspect a longer filming session.
Thanks Dirk, yes you are right, we did a lot of filming that day! This is actually the 3rd video from that outing! Cheers! 🍺😎👍
😎👍
Cheers mate! 🍺😎🙏👍
Another amazing "Brat Attack"! Looks really awesome with this green body. Is it British Racing Green? I mean, it would fit, wouldn't' it? 👍
Thanks! Yes the green is a nice colour, Tamiya PS metallic green 👌 It's a bit lighter than British Racing Green 🏁 😎👍 and yes it would be a perfect fit!
Great video mate love the brat 👌 looks like you've got a good place to run the car's there!! I'm trying to find something like that 😊
Thanks Mark, yeah the Brat is a great little truck! This place is awesome for rc related fun, nice of Dom to introduce us to it! Hope you find a good spot too! Cheers! 🍻😎👊👍
Sorry bud, just catching up on content..... fed up with all these Christmas jobs getting in the way of my hobby time!
Brave man, letting that cheeky chappy Rob drive your gorgeous green ORV machine!!
Guessing it was him and not Dom that rolled it? 😂
Looked great out there, and Kudos to you on the camera duties..... you do well keeping up with the cars to get that footage!
This one had a proper RC Dom vibe to it, beautifully edited matey.
Being very familiar with those ORV gearboxes and drive shafts it literally made me cringe seeing all that 'bottom' sand getting flung about.... surely that gets inside the diff?
Looked very cool though to say the least.
Loving the green paintwork, stood out very well on camera.
And great having two bodies with this kit, one for using and abusing, and another for display!
All the best matey! 👍 👍 👍
Sorry you are having to work too much matey! Take your time no rush to get everything done. When you get to my age there is no rushing involved!!!
Haha, that Rob needs to pass his driving test! But that roll WAS actually Dom! 😅 He blamed my twin stick radio! 🤣😬
I have to keep having a rest every couple of minutes when filming, hence the deck chairs!
Not sure if the sand got in, I didn't check, but it seems to still be driving OK... 🤞
Yeah the green looks great against the orange of the sand, what a contrast!
Anyway, thanks for leaving a great comment and all the best to you my friend! 😎👊👍
@@MarkBryanRC
Now that's enough of that 'old man' talk mate..... both you and Rob are young at heart, and that's all that matters!!!
(did Rob ever mention that he has turned 60?!!!😂)
Wow, it was Dom who flipped it..... don't think I've ever seen him roll one before, his driving is usually well dialled in!
And, there's nothing wrong with stick controls, I struggle with the pistol ones!
As for Rob, he drives like me.... full blast and hope for the best! 😂
👍 👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Is Rob 60?!?!? He never said! Did I tell you I was 60?!! 😅😅 As for the driving, I cant tell you that we are all the same, mate! Blast and hope for the best!!! Cheers brother! 😬😬👍👍
Great footage as always Mark 😊 How did you fix the broken upright? This seems to be a weak spot of the ORV chassis and upon further research it looks like The Hornet carbon reinforced upright can be used as a substitute with some modification to the steering linkages. I just built my Brat and have already ordered these uprights as backup!
Thanks! Oh, in the end I found a spare upright in my workshop, still need to glue the broken one back together for a spare. Thanks for the tip about the Hornet upright, I'll remember that one! Cheers! 😎👍
Hi Mark, what a session! I can’t believe how long you were running around after the Subaru Brat 😂😊😂I would never have lasted anywhere near as much as you did! 😂😊😂still, the video turned out awesome! Did you manage to get the hard body completed? You’ve just inspired me to get my Subaru Brat out again, I think I’ve a steering rod to straighten and we’re back in business 😊😊thank you my good friend. Best wishes and a merry Christmas to you and the family 😊🎉😊
Hello John and thanks for tuning in again my friend! Oh yes I was on my feet a long time that day and this last run totally wore me out! 😅 Not done the hard body yet! Definitely worth getting your Brat out again, I'm sure it'll put a smile on your face 😊 ☺! All the best to you and yours for a marvellous Christmas 🎄 😀 👊👍
What green is that mate?
Hi mike, it's Tamiya PS-17 metallic green! 😎👍
