Good Time Blues - Grateful Dead - 7-23-1990 - World Music Theatre, Tinley Park, Illinois (set 1-03)

- Already posted (!) as a "complete" show. Here, I broke down the show into individual song/uploads (with some slight visual changes).
Proshot : Low gen video (thanks Brokedown House Productions).
Show comments : This last show of the 1990 spring/summer tour gets very mixed reviews. Beyond its being Brent's last (RIP), some find the show particularly strong, others poor or simply standard (evoking the end of a grinding tour : 38 shows, March to July with only brief breaks in parts of April & May). Bobby Weir seems, nonetheless, to be in good spirits as well as the two drummers and even Brent (despite the probable despair) seems truly on target. Ok, Jerry and Phil don't have their best "sway" or "smiles" of other shows...
Also, most Heads convene that this venue (World Music Theatre) was less than gracious nor even welcoming (no wonder the band never returned there as The Dead had been banded from their "preferred" Alpine Valley Music Theatre venue) AND that "bad vibes" were immediately felt upon arrival. Was that with hind-sight, with the passing of Brent just two days later ? Or just the end of another Tour ? Others also evoke the arrival of punky "non-Heads" polluting the scene. Well, for YOU to judge.
PS : You'll notice Jerry's using his "Wolf" (guitar)
PS : I used my pictures/images to mask SOME of the original & cheesy computer fillers (start of "Foolish Heart", "Women are Starter", "Terrapin" ...
PS : However, I'm NOT responsible for the other, original, cheesy visuals added here & there and notably during drums & space !
PS : Yes, Brent was probably the most complete pianist for the GD !, musically, vocally and inspirationally.

Brent was an absolute monster on keys and vocals. He played with passion, heart and soul ..I could feel his pain in his last performance. He was hurting inside .. he even said it at the end of the song.. rip Brent Mydland.
30 years, still missing you Brent. Thanks for all those Good Times.

My good lord!!!! No one hit the Hammond B3 like Brent!!!! What a gift to us all what monumental loss for mankind!!!!
He beats it into submission
Leaving it ALL out there
You can feel it coming
Ya know Jeff Chimenti now owns that organ and blows the roof off anywhere he takes it
Melvin Seals has been known to play a B3 a time or two 💚🙏💚
@@thechad5764 he owns it or just uses it?? I'm sure it's the deads property still I bet..Bob wants to keep it all lol even wanted Jerrys guitars.
@@daveyboy8907 jeff bought Brent's B3 long ago it is his, jeff with the golden gate wingmen beats slow n co any day
@@thechad5764 Wow man that's great for him..I can't imagine owning that as a player.. I'm glad he uses it.
I miss Brent at least twice a day
So epic it gives me chills. The man with the heart and soul pouring it al out would be dead in 3 days...
He made that god damn organ SING
I was there that night. Wow, what a powerful and eery performance!!! We miss you Brent.

Yes… an epic show… I feel blessed that I was there too… I’m lucky my Dead years were during the Brent era❤️🏴☠️
I was at these shows! so weird looking back up into the crowd at my much younger self. I think I was in the middle just outside the enclosed roof area. Love you forever Brent! You brought two beautiful women into the world, shared much joy and awareness of environmental causes! I hope you found eternal light and maybe we'll see you again someday ... peace brother 💖 🛤️🚂💨💨💨💨💨
brent was my absolute favorite keyboard player, so, so talented. what a waste!! saw over 100 shows between 1985 till the passing of jerry. was fortunate enough to see the last 4 shows ever. 2 in st louis and 2 at soldier field. rip my brothers, will see you on the flip side!!!
Same
It's July 23 rd 2018. On this date I always come back to this show. RIP Brent. BTW Jeff is still playing your Hammond b-3
Absolutely correct on that one
Hope your alive and well on 7/23/21 Timothy
That nod when Brent turns the reigns to Jerry...
5:14❤
He wrote JUST A LITTLE LIGHT..... some are toooooo
Gifted and expect to much from themselves. ❤
Brent was such an amazing player ⚡️💀🌹
oooooohhhhhh! Love this. Learning Blues Harp. Perfect to wail on!!!
Jerry playing Wolf in shorts. Love it.
Beyond words love love love
Omg Brent I love you so much
I saw this show with my buddy Doug. It was a good time.
We miss you, Brent. The dead unfortunately went south so badly after his passing.
Sorry but I can't agree with that. They were still really good through 1992. They definitely didn't go south so badly as you claim
@@kevinfredettte2191 i can second ur claim, i’ve found many gems in the late 90s. ☮️
Dam Brent!!!
Thanks 🧡
I saw most of my shows during the Brent era. Some songs like Mr. Fantasy they don't do anymore because only Brent could sing them.
Brent was my favorite dead pianist him and jerry loved each other it showed in there music. never do Heroine learn from these guys
Ya john. Brent just followed jerry...gosh miss both soooo much
Brent is the man.
Missed, BIG TIME!!!!!!!
Great perfomance
And like that, he was gone.
Who are the idiots who thumb down on this masterpiece? In the spirit of Mickey I'll be kind and hold further opinions
Never trust a woman. Great! Loved Brent 😍
Love ya Brent
O yeah lets do this..
I need a time machine 4 real 😫
I'd lend you mine but I forgot when I parked it.
Jerry Garcia (August 1, 1942 - August 9, 1995)
Bob Weir
Phil Lesh
Bill Kreutzmann
Mickey Hart
Brent Mydland (October 21, 1952 - July 26, 1990)
T.C. should be on this list & Vince too
Brent died on this date 30 years ago, that's what brought me here today.
Brent Mydland 🔥 🔥 🔥
it was. the weight is haunting...his last song
Gone three days later. 😢😥😭
Saw them do this song several times. But this one gives me chills. I would love to get out of this fucking town.
Fucking great!
God Speed Brent ❤️❤️
My favorite Brent song by far!!
Not a Brent song.
Same
This is heavy.... Brent died of an overdose after finishing this tour.... speedballing.
Mixing Coke with Morphine or Heroin.....
The finest voice. Just a little light gives us light
Into what he was feeling in his genius writing.
I have a close family member who I worried about
All the time, doing the speedballing....
I dont have to worry anymore, he is gone ....
sadly.
Brent died 3 days later. 😿
His last performance of this raging good song... seems like Jerry really liked playing this one.
Gonna see some good times
Gonna get to ring that bell
Gonna see some good times
Sometimes you make up
For when I'm not feeling well
I must be due some great times
'Cause right now
'Cause right now I feel like hell
Never trust a woman
Who wears her pants too tight
Never trust a woman
Who wears her pants too tight
She might love you tomorrow
But she'll be gone tomorrow night
I say, come tomorrow, I'll get my pay
And I'm gonna leave this town
Come tomorrow, I'll get my pay
And I'm gonna leave this fucking town
She don't really love me
Ain't no reason to stick around
Gonna see some good times
Gonna get to ring that bell
Gonna see some good times
Sometimes you make up
For when I'm not feeling well
I must be due some great times
But if they don't come, if they don't come
If they never come around, what the hell
Song also know as "Never Trust a Woman" and, yes, Brent's vocals are slightly echoed (on all original tracks).
What's the actual name. Ive always seen, never trust a woman. And it's a cover. Pig used to sing it
Pig didnt sing this
like the Jer man's sound on this one...oh ya i dig the Brent
He was playing so angry...pinned pupils, keeping the darkness inside instead of letting it be dispersed by the light of forgiveness...Brother I'm sorry I didn't carry the message better....the message is hope, the promise is freedom from active addiction
It was so sad. I remember. My sister called me and said my brother was so mad at me because I had not contacted him...Then she said you know....death in the family. I will always miss Brent.
He looks angry???? Who are you to make that statement? Can you read his mind? No, I didn't think so chief. Let him be. Brent is a gem. Take your program speak and keep it to yourself.
Narcotics Anonymous helped me as well
MAN...THE LOOK IN BRENT'S EYES...IS THE LOOK OF A MAN POSSESED. THIS IS THE MOST INTENSE VOCAL AND KEYBOARD PERFORMANCE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN. I THINK THAT WE ALL KNOW THAT BRETT KNEW THE END WAS VERY NEAR. MY OLDER BROTHER DIED FROM HEROIN ABUSE...AND I SAW HOW SICK HE WAS MOST OF THE TIME. MY BROTHER WAS A SLAVE TO HIS ADDICTION.
BRETT WAS WITH THE BAND FOR 11 YEARS...IN THE BIGGEST "DRUG CANDY STORE" ON THE PLANET. PLUS BRETT MADE ENOUGH MONEY FOR HIS HABIT. HIS DEATH WAS A TREMENDOUS LOSS...
BRETT WAS SO GOOD...
I saw the Dead for ten years. What I call Brents years, '79-'89 and I finally got off the bus. Brents death did not come as a shock. It was expected. His eyes variously dilated from Cocaine or constricted from Heroin. I heard it was an infamous"Speeball" which took him down. All the same it still hurts like hell. God Bless all my brothers and sisters.
RIP Garcia.
Peace.
Stefan Schleps I don’t get how you said his death was expected? Based on what? Everyone was blindsided by his death. It was out of nowhere.
And I think it was morphine and cocaine.
I don’t those close were blindsided. Jerry said as much later that year in a rolling stone article. And Barlow, who was close with Brent, basically called it inevitable.
Let the wolf come out and play
And the FIRE 🔥 said " Brent can we take a night off I'm tired "
Never trust a women wearing a dress to tight....great line like many from the dead
When we all meet up in Heaven will we be saying "Hey I haven't seen you since we were alive" or "I seen you guys live when I was alive". Wonder if they change their name. The Grateful Live. The Live
Gonna see some good times
Some times to make up for when I'm not feeling well
I must be due some great times
'Cause right now I feel like hell
Never trust a woman who wears her pants too tight [repeat]
See, I might love you tomorrow
But, see, you'll be gone tomorrow night
Come tomorrow I get my pay and I'm gonna leave this town [repeat]
You say you don't really love me
Ain't no reason to stick around
Gonna see some good times
Gonna get to ring that bell
Gonna see some good times
Some times to make up for when I'm not feeling well
I must be due some great times
'Cause right now I feel like hell
tnx
nice dude
Thank you I was st this show place sucked bad vibes that night
Warner Land and Maintenance the place was a shithole no doubt, but I dont recall a lot of bad vibes there
Indeed the world sucks ass. It was a weird vibe, not necessarily bad, just weird. A lot of people were seriohsly out of their minds. Remember seeing a young lady carried away naked and she was not in good shape. It scared me a bit.
Woah, jerry gotta hold of that one!!!
get down brent =wild man
Im sad july is not kind to the dead
His wife?.
Was that Eddie Munster on drums at 4:54 ? Just kidding Mickey, I love your drumming.
If only Brent knew the state of women's pants today. He wouldn't trust a one of them! But then again, the pants were pretty tight back then too.
Or lack of pants with shorts up their asses...
I was there 7th row on Brent's side, he seemed very very angry to me
I've always seen it as, never trust a woman. I forget who.wrote it. Pig used to sing it too.
Pig never sang this
Brent is going crazy here, haha
One of brents last shows no? I thought 7/26/90 was his passing
This was the - fuck this traffic leave the car here let’s go show”, eh?
The fact that Len Dell'Amico laid those shitty-even-by-1990-standards cheeseball graphics over the jammiest parts of the stadium shows from '87 on is inexcusably stupid and amateurish.
Hating aside, much love to everyone else involved in bringing these videos to us, and the band and everyone else for making it happen on the day itself
you know our love will not fade away
STONER MASTERPIECE..................................... SHABBY EH?
brent's last show i believe...
donnyjeffcoat412 your right 28 years we lost Brent mydland on July 26th 1990
That place looks weird.
It is god awful...
