  • This was from the Festival of Joy at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship. There is a song in this set that has been asked about called Angels Watching Over Me and is co-written with Norm Strauss and recorded on Norm Strauss's recording after this conference took place. The title name of the recording is Freedom and the company name is Remnant Records, made in Canada in 1997
    Some people have commented on the animal noises and I did some research on it. The barking came from the Cain Ridge Revival in Kentucky and is referred to in two ways, the first was that they were barking the devil up a tree. The other reference is where the term barking up the wrong tree comes from and was made about those barking in the power of the Spirit while leaning up against a tree.

    Love this!!! I’ve been a huge fan of Kevin ever since the 90s his gift to lead worship is incredible and not many can do it like him being lead by the spirit and not just playing the next song in line. Leaving room for spontaneous worship that’s where it’s at!!

    Wow, wow, wow my brother, I've been looking for the past 10 years for any video recordings of the live praise & worship sessions at the Toronto revival, and I'm so grateful for finding your channel, it's such a pity that no-one decided to make a DVD of the awesome praise & worship during that time.
    I live in South Africa and my Church was part of the Toronto revival, hundreds or maybe even more than a thousand of people in my Church went over to experience the revival in Toronto, I was a student back then and unfortunately couldn't afford to go over.

      @@soberservantofpraise9098 John and Carol Arnott even came to visit and minister twice at our Church back then in 1997 and in 1999 and then Randy Clark flew over in 1997 to preach at the youth conference and last but not the least Heidi Baker came to minister in 2005.

      There was a CD released from this conference titled "A Festival of Joy". The sessions were recorded on a S-VHS Master and copied using a bank of 18 VHS and 6 PAL (Europe TV System) recorders. Recordable DVDs were just starting to come out. in 1997.
      I think the video quality is not too bad for an old tape and the audio on a VHS tape is excellent.

      I do too, but I have been a part of worship, as obvious by the age of the tapes, for quite a while and you go through phases of down time. Life happens to us all especially with the competition that can happen in ministry sometimes. Some people get healing and prayer and re-tighten their grip and go on and some don't unfortunately. I don't know where he's at in all of that but he made mention of some issues in that direction when he preached that week. I want to get the sermons uploaded next, take care and God bless.

    I love the music and obviously been part of the revival in the mid 90's,looking back -I have to say-emotions were in overdrive,that doesn't mean there was no work of the Spirit,I just wish the leaders had been more grounded in the Scriptures,not promoting the hype and taught us to stay disciplined and sober...there has been some hard lesson learnt could have been avoided....I trust the next wave produces more fruit such as God intended,having said that I believe and experienced the joy of the Lord with holy laughter,it's wonderful,but I myself took it to the extreme at times.while I was having a hard time to deal with my carnal nature,nobody was mature enough to tell me how to deal with it

    • @soberservantofpraise9098
      @soberservantofpraise9098  Před 2 lety +2

      I was in on this move of God almost from the very beginning and in the years that followed, say from 1994 to 2000 or so there wasn't anything that I could tell that was that awry. But by 2004 and beyond I would say they were attracting a few questionable people in attendance. Thing is there was never really any filtering system and who so ever would came. As for the almost extreme touch of God that I felt at the time was also what I needed for what I was going through in life at the time. And I must say it's rather like learning to ride a bike, you never not know it once you've been there. When the setting is right and God shows up, I still have a moderate amount of the Blessing phenomena resurface even now in 2021, in fact it's deeper into my spirit and more real somehow. Blessings, Pam

      As I experienced some of the laughter myself, I can honestly say that it wasn't self-seeking. I would liken it to when you almost fall down badly but don't and are laughing in sheer relief at it. I've been through many a raw spot and to feel God's healing presence that profoundly feels like that kind of rescue. Somewhere in the Old Testament is a reference made to the Children of Israel when they returned to Jerusalem that their joy was as those whose mouths are filled with laughter. In my life the laughter comes after the pain, sometimes great pain...

      I think in some ways it's so people aren't too shy or embarrassed to let whatever is happening to them in God's Spirit fully surface. But on the flip side of that, I think it's part of the profoundness to see what God is doing in someone else, even if, in a sense, I'm not there yet myself. I remember many a 'credible witness' in the early days that would confirm to me that it was God doing it and from Him and to Him and for Him, and I may not have seen it or recognized it, if it were too dark to see.

      Life situations came up for Kevin in 1999. Also past John Wimber's death in 1997, his son who was head of all Vineyard Worship music passed away just months later. After that Vineyard focused shifted or something happened and I recently checked and there's at least 25 used to be Vineyard Worship leaders that aren't with the Vineyard anymore. David Ruis and Vineyard Music Canada seems to me to be a small remnant that's left of what we used to have in the States. This is personal observation after being deeply involved with Vineyard worship teams since 1989

      @@soberservantofpraise9098 i didn't know that. But what i really mean, to my feeling Kevin disappeared off the grid for the second time in the recent years (you know, after his most recent albums like palanquin and the project with the Lukers and the album 'the gift' featuring Heidi Baker, also he took part in the worship sessions of 'Mission Possible' in the Netherlands), but i haven't heard or seen Kevin in the last 5 to 6 years at all, i mean, this makes me wonder where he's at. Has something happened to him? Or maybe he is in ministry to the poor with Iris ministries in Mozambique. Friends of mine were in a project recently with Martin Neil in the UK, but they didn't have any news neither since they didn't ask Martin.

      It was to go with the conference title of Festival of Joy. I still have the agenda booklet somewhere and the front page looks like a party setting too.

      I thought I had it on something, probably cassette at the time, but it's buried somewhere if it is. I may just have recorded the sound off the recording to play in the car at the time...Angels watching over me!
