Y’know, the second time I read the whole series (and through every reading since), it was while listening frequently to the soundtrack to the 90s miniseries The Stand. It somehow musically encompassed that evolving character of Roland and his ka-tet… and it seems I’m not the only one who thinks so. So thankee-sai for putting this together. Expertly and sensitively done. May your days be long on the earth.
Great video. I first watched it years ago and stopped when you warned of spoilers. After finishing the series i came back. Now i re-watch it occasionally. I hope we get more Dark Tower videos!
Great job, on 1 of my all time favourite fictional characters, I was abit disappointed with the ending, but I feel like Roland gets his redemption next go round 😊

Great examination, thankee sai. I remember being disappointed with the ending some 10 odd years ago, but upon reflection and watching this video, it gives me hope that Roland might finally have the happy ending I feel he deserves. Maybe something like the one in Susannah’s New York.

The oddity with me I guess is that I didn't hate the ending itself. It was the confrontation with the Crimson King that I thought was poor.
I would argue that his character starts to change as soon as he has the speech with himself about becoming a beast.
I felt the same way about the crimson kings end till I read insomnia. That gave me a much greater understanding of why it was the right way to deal with him.
THIS!!! I felt exactly what you felt!!! The Crimson King fight was awful! But the end itself was masterful.
