  • Today I talk about the Primus Lite 3 (or III). After 300 miles running in these shoes I share what I've experienced with them, including the comfort, durability, design and various other features of the shoe which I either liked or didn't like. I also show you the shoes from many different angles including during running.

    300 miles! They look like new! & the soles look like they've had very little wear as well. They're not my cup of tea but that's why there's so much choice out there, we all get to find what works for us 👍🏃

    • @TirnanHealy

      Most of the footage they are brand new out the box, the only time I showed them after 300 miles was the image that I showed right before I showed the Xero HFS haha. I probably should have clarified that.
      Exactly, we all have different needs and preferences and it’s good we get a range of options 👍🏻

    I love all black sneakers as I tend to ruin white ones like it's nothing. So if this is for a minimalist then count me in. Great review.

    Thanks for sharing this Tirnan! I love my Primus Lite 3s, but only use them for walking. How have you found the outsold durability? Mine has flat spots where my heel strikes the ground, and am concerned about long term durability. I also note that the outsole is slightly unglued from the upper where my forefoot bends as I walk. However they are absolutely my go to walking shoe and I will buy again if they prove their durability! Enjoy your running 😊

      I haven’t noticed any more wear and tear, but I haven’t ran a lot of miles in them since I’ve made the video. I’ve been using the HFS more.
      I’ve been working a ton of hours in Germany🇩🇪 which involves a lot of picking up and moving a lot of machine components. In short I haven’t had the time or much energy to be running as much as I’d like… for now

    I googled around before getting Primus Lite 3 and got an impression that they hold up very well (at least previous version did).
    Unfortunately after mere 200km I had to take them to the cobbler to fix mesh upper that started to wear out above my big toes :(
    This might be a sizing issue, maybe if I went one size down my big toe would be under reinforced rubber upper and it wouldn't happen, but then they would be too narrow for my feet (and my feet are not very wide, so I'm questioning vivo's sizing here as well).
    They also show wear where the toes bend, and sole's hexagon pattern has some considerable wear as well (maybe even cracks in some places).
    I like them a lot, overall they are very comfortable, but I do not expect them to make it to even 500km at the rate this is going :(

    • @TirnanHealy
      @TirnanHealy  Před 3 lety +3

      Ah how disappointing, It seems a few other people have the issue with the wear where the toes bend too. Once I have clocked more miles in both pairs of shoes I’ll take a look into another brand that is supposedly durable and test them out, I think I heard of Lems (I think that’s the name) being good? The quest for the best footwear continues

    I just picked a pair of these up, found sizing to be a little tough. I have other Vivos and wear a solid US 10 / 43, but with these, they were too long, though width seemed good. I ended up going with a 42 due to length. Width on the 42 is just wide enough across the forefoot, so a bit snugger than my other Vivos, but comfortable so far. Should be fine with thin socks or removing the insole.
    I also have the HFS and they've held up to regular wear and some running, though are getting a little long in the tooth. The HFS is a little more flexible, hoping the Vivos will loosen up just a bit.
    Thanks for putting this together.

    Hi Tirnan, great and helpful video, thanks very much. I hear you say they're not great traction in the countryside. I'm hoping the PL3 will serve me for all uses: running on pavement, country walks and round the house. So is it that it's just not above average for grip on the muddy footpaths, or would I actually have LESS grip than the average (normal) shoe on the footpaths? And do you (people) typically wear them without socks? I guess that would be a decision to be made before one chooses what size to get.

    • @KissingConsciousness
      @KissingConsciousness Před rokem

      @@arnoldd7073 Thanks. Why are the Primus Lite better alround? Are they better for road/pavement running? I've been running 2 miles each morning in my Trail FGs and imagine the thinner Primus Lite soles would give even less protection from the hard surface. I've been walking 6 miles frequently in the FGs for the last two months, and they were definitely the right option for that. The speed laces are also cutting across the top of my foot when running, the last string across near the toes, even when I loosen them.

    • @TirnanHealy
      @TirnanHealy  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi, you're welcome man, I would say that it just doesn't have above average grip on the pavements, not less. I usually wear them with socks.
