The way Matt sings the chorus gives me shivers and brings tears to my eyes for some reason
I'm glad you said that because I feel the same way. In the political/personal context of the song, the inability to see something differently and explain it in a way that someone else would understand is such a heartbreak. There is such a division between people but still the hope that with just the right words we could all agree and be one again. Such a simple line for a very complex situation and feelings, so much frustration in the way it is performed, classic Matt Berninger.

Jools Holland has been going continuously on the BBC for well over 25 years now. Many great performances :
Mazzy Star, PJ Harvey, REM , Anthony and the Johnsons, LP, Low, London Grammar, Florence and the Machine, The Kills, Kristin Hersh, Radiohead, Portishead, etc etc etc .........But this one by the National is tremendous . Even better than when they played "Anyone's Ghost"
There was also a great Leonard Cohen performance
