    One of the most impressive Mahler 5 intros.. He is sooooo great. He can play not only deep sounds but also sharp sounds in the high range.. Many players play this song's intro simply and neatly. But this player is wide, deep, and even play like pushing the tones that classical players hate. Very unique.

      I have a question for you now. Do you still think this is your favorite perfomance? A lot of people around me just side with Abaddo, and I understand that he makes it clear and balanced, but Orozco-Estrada has a very suitable style for Mahler, in my view. What do you say?

      @YoungKantian Před rokem +6

      @@dan-us6nk Agreed. Abaddo is great, but Orozco is just more suited for Mahler. To me Abaddo has a more fruity and punchy style while Estrada goes with an earthy and grim-grounded sort of take.

    This is the finest Mahler Fifth I have ever heard - surely the reference standard. Rich, musical, lyrical, and just plain LUSH, it's damn near the most perfectly realized Mahler ANYTHING I have ever heard (but the Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig DLVDE still wears that laurel, at least for me).

    • @alexb6139
      @alexb6139 Před 5 lety +5

      The question is, should it be lyrical, or lush? It is in many ways a deeply tragic Symphony. Hence the first movements marking - "Trauermarsch" - or "Funeral march". Of course, it´s an interpretation matter, although I feel I really should put that out there.

    🎉Una scultura ad alto e basso rilievo. I toni sono spinti al massimo espressivo. Eccezionali interpreti con magistrale direzione.

    Ich wusste bis heute nicht, dass Mahlers 5. die Zerrissentse von allen ist!

      Für mich ist das seine persönlichste. Ohne dass er sich selbst jemals dazu geäußert hätte ist das hier eine sinfonische Autobiographie.
      Erste Abteilung: Kindheit in Armut, Gewalt und unter dem Eindruck, dass der Tod ein ständiger Gast ist. Mahler hat zahlreiche Geschwister im Kindesalter verloren.
      Zweite Abteilung: Mahler erobert sich Wien.
      Dritte Abteilung: Mahler verliebt sich in Alma und gesteht ihr seine Liebe. Optimistischer Ausblick in die gemeinsame Zukunft.
