The American Cocker Spaniel and Afterglow

The American Cocker Spaniel, or simple the Cocker Spaniel if you live Stateside was the surprise breed to top Crufts 2017 when Sh Ch Afterglow Miami Ink was awarded Best in Show by Jeff Horswell.
The Afterglow kennel of Mike Gadsby and Jason Lynn is one of the most successful kennels in Uk history, with more than 100 champions across almost 20 breeds. In 2014 they won Crufts Best in Show with an equally hairy but much bigger breed, the Standard Poodle Ch Afterglow Maverick Sabre, and just three years later win again with Miami the American Cocker.
We visited the kennel to learn all about the American Cocker Spaniel and what has made the Afterglow team so successful.

I have an English Cocker, Oliva and an American, Bailey. Oliva is the happiest boy eva!!! He doesn't have the same coat as my English, she is silky. He is fluffy and super soft fur. They are both beautiful dogs and I would recommend the breed to young family's starting off with a puppy. They are great dogs to have!!!

I have had three American Cockers! One that was into thirteen, Tim, one that only became six, Eddie, and the one that survived them, Teddy that is ten now. Tim was black, Eddie red and white with a bit champagne and Teddy is a buff, his fur is changing in colour from light brown, almost yellow to red depending on time of year.
