    I have PSR-EW310, lot's of fun experimenting with different sounds. It is also one heck of a terrific value. Though the PSR-E425 offers some really nice compelling features, the price IMHO, puts it in another category of keyboards with other options. However if it fits your needs, it is no question a great keyboard. Love the Mic input feature. Always good to get Jeremy's honest advice and review.😀

    I just bought my new PSR EW425 from our Yamaha outlet here in Suva, Fiji. The sounds are easy listening to and very professional in many ways. It's easy to handle and play your favorite tunes. Overall is the 76 key it has. I also have Tyros 2, Casio WK 7600 & Kurzweil KP200..

    For me, the best feature of this keyboard (besides the 76 keys and good quality sounds) is the ability to turn on/off various parts of the accompaniment STYLE. Until recently it was an all-or-nothing and many times you don't actually need the entire accompaniment. Korg recently brought this feature to their midrange arrangers (with the EK-50) and I'm glad that Yamaha is catching up with them.

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers Před 2 lety +3

      You are wrong that "until recently it was an all-or-nothing" regarding the ability to turn on/off various parts of the accompaniment style. In fact, this feature has been present in the PSR-E463, PSR-E453, PSR-E443, and PSR-E433. The PSR-E433 was released in July 2012. So, this feature has been present in the PSR-E400 series for at least 10 years.

    Hi Jeremy!! For playing classical music, Do you fell the need for a keyboard with hammer action for better playing experience??

  • @GaryMCurran
    @GaryMCurran Před rokem +1

    I'm kind of torn. Currently, I have an aging Korg PA800, and the PSR-EW-425 will never be a replacement for that keyboard. But, I am looking for something a little more portable that I can take to our fellowships and play there. For a price difference of about $200USD, I'm contemplating the EW-425 or the Medeli AKX-10. One of the things I really want to be able to do is use Band In A Box to be able to send MIDI backing tracks to either keyboard, but I also would want an option of sending the audio data from BIAB to the speaker setup, and the EW-425, with the Aux input, offers that, but the Medeli also offers audio input, in fact, two 1/4" mono inputs, which means I'll need to get a special cable to go from 1/8" stereo to two 1/4" mono, but not a real issue.
    I like the 76 keys of the EW-425, but I never learned to read bass clef or play left-handed, only chords. Either device will suffice for that, but if I were looking for something inexpensive to start learning to fully play piano, reading and playing both clefs, the EW-425 would be my current choice.
    Now all I want to know is when is Korg going to release the PA5X-76? :)

    Hi, I am looking for a digital piano for my kids. What i prefer is something that have really good sound and can mimic real close to a real piano. Such as what you describe the harder to press the louder it is. Love that this has the grand piano thing and i love the sound of it. I see this ew425 has so many bells and whistle which probably i won't even know what to do with it. It looks nice and fancy. I really fine with $400 but just wondering if there are simpler options with really good sound as this and with pedal. (i am not a pianist)

  • @SouthPaw____
    @SouthPaw____ Před rokem

    Hi Jeremy I love all your videos. May I ask are you using a sustain petal with this keyboard??
    I just received mine thinking there was a sustain button option, but the only way I know how to make it sustain is going to function M Release and raising numbers…. But then sound vibrates…
    With that being said, I have to return it , two shipping companies were very ruff, box damaged twice & now keys dont sound right. All the piano sounds are very tingy ( like its always on bright piano setting)…. and lower keys distort … (Didn’t lower octave) Not rich sounding at all. Gave me headache lol. I’ve tried control knobs, every button/setting to change the sound to make any piano options sound good but something is off…
    But before I decide to have them send me another one I wanted to know about the sustain option if there is one without buying a pedal…
    Im not a beginner, but the price was right.. Sound wrong…😂

    • @kosomolsk
      @kosomolsk Před rokem

      @@Zaudi_Jonas UExcept for the 76-keys and being the (AFAIK) most powerful speakers on a keyboard / piano that can be battery powered, the SX600 specwise is much stronger than the EW425, includng the speakers (now 30W instead of 24W). The EW425's 820 voices are over half XGlite, while the SX600 has 850 voices + 480 XGlite, plus the panel voices are often of higher grades (Live! Cool! Sweet! Super Articulation) and based on the PSR-E373 I have, the difference between a ! voice and Regular counterpart is audible even to a noob (me). It has more DSPs (DSP1 on EW425 only powers the Main Voice, and the DSP2 only has about 10 effects). You even get more scales, the pitch wheel can be set to affect some layers and not the others .. etc. The only thing is how much an actual user will miss those missing features.

    I own Yamaha DGX305, predecessor of this model edited 15years ago, and also agree that it offers a lot even if you are the professional. Although I have several other keyboards, I use it very often for both recording and live gigs because of nice sounding tones that are still rich and persuasive, when used cleverly, of course. That instrument is made to meet huge amount of demands for different artistic expectations. Some sounds are nice prepared for sophisticated performance using advantage of well balanced dynamic keybed. This model you analyse today is advanced in arrangements and abilities of sound control, but usage pattern is still approximately the same.

    Hi Jeremy. Could you please tell me if this keyboard has quarter tone scale (for Arabic music) as well as recording track to make your own style and rhythm. Thank you so much in advance.

    hola tengo en mente comprar el CDPS160 por que no encuentro el 150, o el CDP-S350 y CDP-S360. donde vivo en físico solo esta el CDP-S160 pero vale unos $150 mas, casi no hago pedidos por que no se como me vendrá, alguien me puede decir donde poder hacer el pedido seguro a Centroamérica. y cual seria mejor prf, solo tengo 6 dias.

    Hi Jeremy.
    1) Has the LED on your PSR - EW425 malfunctioned yet like the E373 defect?
    2) What might be the Korg equivalence of this keyboard?
    3) Why did they not use OLED instead of LED? Cost or for another reason?

      any LED will become defect after some years...except the older ones probably...today obsolescence is everywhere...

    Hey! I am not sure if you can help me, but I trying. My Keyboard is a Yamaha PSR- EW310. I am wondering if the EW425 has the Strings tones which is the voice number 77 on the EW310? I could not detect it, but maybe you can, and tell me it has it? Thanks for helping me out!

    Thanks Jeremy you are tireless and so usefull. Thanks to your detailed videos I bought a DGX 670 after lots of hesitation with the EW 425. I didnt want 88 keys, and a long bulky box, prefered 76, which is more than enough to my views, but the DGX arrangements are more alive and the style and sound editing is way richer. I wish I could have ordered from your links but in Canada, it meant going to Amazon and I preferred benefiting a local shop. But you deserve credits and I ll try order some stuff from your other links. I have Korg PA300 which is great if very tricky to fine tune, but quite astounding in its detailed editing, its really more complete as an arranger than Yamaha, so for some sounds, Korg is better, while for others, Yamaha is better, I do find sometimes Yamaha sounds a bit too.... perfect... almost cold, perhaps studio like is the word. Its a matter of taste. There is room for both Korg and Yamaha, and I hope that Casio is going to raise the bar sometime with the successor to the PX 560

    You get a lot for the money and the only downside to this model is not enough polyphony. I wish that the dgx-670 had a 61 or 73 key version. I ended up purchasing the P-121 portable digital piano, but even though I do like it, I wish that there were more than 10 tones etc.

      You can always add tones by plugging your P121 into a computer and using MIDI virtual instruments.

    Hello Jérémy je vais donner concernant le Yamaha 373 et le 473 après un essai dans rue. La registration du 373 sur le modèle que je possède n'a jamais fonctionné, les sons sont dans l'ensemble surtout le piano, flûte, et le sax 2 par contre on ne peut pas superposer son accompagnement sur l'accompagnement automatique avec les voix lower ou split idem sur le 473 car il se produit des fuites de dynamique désagréables. Aussi paradoxal que cela paraisse je préfère le 373 au 473!
