  • In this video I discuss the normal and abnormal variations on a fetal heart rate and related nursing interventions.
Follow along and study by answering these questions.
1.What is the normal baseline FHR
    2. What is a non reassuring FHR?
    3. What is a cause of bradycardia?
    4. What is a cause of tachycardia?
5.Hoe much does baby's heart rate have to increase to be considered an acceleration?
    6. When do early decelerations occur?
    7. What is the lowest part of the heart rate called?
    8. What causes variable decelerations?
    9. What can make mom hypotensive resulting in variable decelerations?
    10. How does an amnioinfusion work?
    11. What is UPI and what can cause it?
    12. Differentiate the 3 fetal heart rate categories.
    13. What categories may indicate the need for a C-section?
14.What are some reasons baby might have absent variability but no decelerations?
    15. What are the steps to take when looking at a strip?

    Moderate with 6-25 bpm

Great explanations but I wanted to make one critique.. Variability is categorized as the following: absent- zero variability, minimal-0-5, moderate is 6-25 and 26 and above is marked.. In fetal heart monitoring, knowing what type of variability is KEY because it really tells the oxygenation status of the fetus, Hope this helps clear things up :-)
