    The latest SEAT Ibiza is larger, better looking and more sophisticated than the car it replaces. It’s a very impressive package, offering low levels of noise, a stable and engaging driving experience and an attractive dashboard, together with generous interior space. It also sits on a brand-new mechanical structure, and generally feels up to date. We’ll have to wait and see if the forthcoming Ford Fiesta trumps the Ibiza when it comes to outright handling, or if the next Volkswagen Polo can can beat its mature feel. But for now, those in the market considering a new Renault Clio, Vauxhall Corsa or Peugeot 208 should definitely swing by a SEAT showroom to see the new Ibiza.

    I test drove the 115bhp version with upgraded 18” wheels on them and at 70mph I didn’t have to much road noise if I’m honest, a little bit of road noise but not as loud as you say it is. Really enjoyed the car and didn’t feel the car was too cheap inside either. Yeah no soft touch plastic but I’m not gonna be driving along rubbing my dashboard or door cards tbh. Only downside is non electric rear windows.

    Why do reviewers emphasise the soft touch dash. How often do you actually spend squishing the dashboard?

    • @PhiveWalls
      @PhiveWalls Před 7 lety +8

      I'd found those so called soft touch materials on the door, centre console would start to peel after 2 or 3 years, I'm not sure if the climate has anything to do with it but Peugeot, BMW, Merc that I'd owned all had this issue.

    • @PhiveWalls
      @PhiveWalls Před 7 lety +1

      StereotypedFilms maybe it's the climate, those soft touch plastics may not take hot climate well, this happened both Australia and Malaysia.

    Have any of you actually driven one? My wife and I did 3 days ago! Forget all this guff about hard plastics. It's actually a very nice place to be its solid, very comfortable seats and huge for its exterior size! Then there's the way it drives, it really is top notch, yes its ride is firm but its strangely comfortable. The steerings great and that engine is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!. We were so impressed we ordered one in FR trim with the 1.0 tsi 115 HP engine in Moonlight grey. Also go and see one in the flesh pictures don't do it justice. Its a really good looking car.

    We had an ibiza for a 3 day test drive. Lovely little car to drive, little 95 bhp engine was adequate enough and the media system I thought was great. Steering felt precise and seems to weight up when going faster speeds. City driving it goes nice and light. Visibility seemed good and i didnt find the rear view a problem. Wing mirrors also seem to give good view. Hard plastics seemed ok, we have a a1 s line and to be honest you dont notice unless looking at dashboards are your thing. Boot space is perfect and fits our buggy in, carry cot, baby bag, and still has enough room for a little shopping! Get our FR in mystery blue in November!

    I don't know about you, but it *REALLY* irritates me that SEAT won't be building a Cupra version of this new Ibiza! The closest we will ever get to a Cupra version of this car is the 150 bhp 1.5L turbo petrol.
    And, SEAT also said that 150 bhp is enough power for a B-segment supermini like the Ibiza. Well, this means SEAT will be missing out on a piece of the B-segment hot hatch market, currently being dominated by Ford's Fiesta ST!
    Not to mention, VW will be releasing a new Polo GTI, complete with a 2.0L turbo petrol making 200 bhp!
    Why would a company like SEAT think 150 bhp would be enough power in a car like this?!

    • @lapamful

    What bothers me the most is that piano black trim. It is used so much in so many cars that the whole point of luxury and personalization just doesn't exist anymore. Plus is just a piece of cheap shiny scratchy plastic nothing more. Something else that I notice and hate in all cars in that segment and not only, is the carpet in the boot. I see the same cheap awful material used for the last 30 years. Is it something that you touch everyday? No. As a matter of fact you might not even see it for a long time but it is also used on the floor and there is no one that can convince me that all that time they couldn't find at least one material that doesn't cost much and looks and feels better. It's lazy, it's cheap, ( even on a segment where "cheap" is almost self-evident) and so unimaginative. No matter how many creases you put on the exterior.

    Very fake cars this days and damn too expensive! The beats system , the specs says its 300w subwoofer LOL No, in reality its only 60w! The amplifier is only 200g weight hahahahhaa For that money u can buy a real 800w sound system. The interior plastic is magnet for dust. I tried style version with 95HP and when you push it , you can feel like you drive a diesel. 1.0l with turbo ?? That engine will blow up when it reach 50k km. And this stupid expensive kessy packs....the most easiest way to steal the car.

      brake pedal is in higher height than throttle pedal. It should be like in fiesta. The Sun this days shines stronger than before so on the windshield you will get a nice and large display of your dashboard.

      And about colors, they made ECO vehicle but wit dark blue color which costs 0 Euro. The white should be the main color instead because of the sun-rays.

      What's weight got to do with output power? There are many ways to reduce weight on an amplifier. Ever heard of Class D? And what about using the car's chassis as the heat sink?

    Stop going on about the plastics. It's a cheap and responsible car. It's made to be affordable. Stop with the f@&king plastic

    So it's expensive, sparsely equipped, cheaply made and is deafening at 70mph? Fro an all new model, I would say that is very disappointing...

      Oliver Schnabel put them both side by side and there is very little between them apart from some led lights which have been on most cars since 2010 and I am sorry that interior is a joke cheap shiny plastic on a 16k car are seat stuck in the 90s at least the French can make better interiors now and will last longer even the new Micra is better bloody built.

    Great review, you put emphasis on style, yet the car looks quite dated and ugly. Just like the new Areca and facelift Leon. All of the Seat range look boring, boxy and as though they were styled in the 80's.

      I think you have confused the SEAT range with the Volkswagon range xD Boxy is the new polo not ibiza.

      indeed, compared to the horribly designed new Polo this only slightly boring Ibiza is a shining example of styling and elegance

      mipmipmipmipmip I agree that the new Polo is ugly. Because it is, extremely so. The cabin is simply awful, however, the Golf is boxy. Very boxy, yet it's classy and good looking, same for the Passat, Touran and Golf SV, however, the same can't be said for the Tiguan. That is ugly.
