I got everything u said going to follow u and save my money the pump came in the mail today wish me luck
Good luck man. Hope it works out
Thanks for the video. On my E92 I didn't have remove the hoses from the canister.
Yeah I probably didnt need to just was easier to taken everything apart. I made sure I cleaned all the sealing areas. Didnt work for me as I have a massive gas leak dealing when I top off my gas tank
MAJOR CORRECTION !! IF YOU HAVE A E93 WHICH IS THE HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE, THE DMTL PUMP IS BEHIND THE PASSENGER WHEEL. THE HYDRAULICS FOR THE TOP MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE
Thanks for the update. I havent driven a vert since my 89 mustang GT days back about 23 years ago. But good knowing. I guess on the non M cars the DMTL is behind the passenger area also
I have a code p1449, diagnostic module tank leakage pump current too high,, so I looked at the fuel pump on the left side driver side pulled it down and started the car I held the motor to the canister and I don't feel any vibration no humming sound shouldn't there be one? I'm thinking maybe the motor went bad the one attached to the canister? No smell of gas, but this code comes up with a check engine light when I step on the gas hard. Then I'll get an engine failure warning reduced power but the car runs fine! I have a 2009 BMW 335i coupe, any help would be appreciated thank you!!
I had that dmtl code on my e92 335i and also wasn't able to fill up past half a tank. I replaced the pump but unfortunately I think it's the charcoal canister causing my issue. Apparently you can fix the canister by banging on it until you hear rattling versus paying like 400 for a new one 😁
Ive heard that also. Saying it could be clogged or some shit. Mine though I can leaking like a river under the car near the passenger rear wheel. Clearly a masive leak on the overfill
I had the code, I just cleared it using INPA, still monitoring it, may change the gas cap first (128i)
Yeah change the gas cap first. With mine I found a leak. Well I see a leak just dont know what it's coming from. But mine is something to do with the overflow tube. But I also hear it could be a charcoal canister clogged, fuel filter clog, the DMTL pump, or gas cap.
Nice video
Thanks! Much appreciated
Yeah it's a built motor full drop in
Thats insane man! Should be a VERY NICE upgrade!
I have a 2005 Hyundai accent with the same leak protection pump as the bmw, vw and audi. And different prices for each car, do your research.
Awesome video - thanks Sir🙏
Bmw error - 11/10/2020 -
My Bmw 2011 128i convertible - 86k miles got error- The code was: 0x002B DMTL, system fault. The DMTL pump/module is what needs to be replaced. It detects leaks in the fuel system. For now i requested dealer to reset since want to see whether it will come back before i pay $680 to replace the DMTL pump module.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
That DMTL pump is like $80. Takes like 45 minutes at best to change out. Other possibilities....charcoal canister clogged, actual leak in fuel system, or gas cap
@@RDDC_Official thanks sir - It helps.
Thank you sir. Big help. Working on the gfs mini and I was not so sure I wanted to handle the job. Being a BMW, I get a tad intimidated with these cars. 😂 but thank you again 🫡
Hey I get the same way thinking BMW is some other beast to work on, in the end, it's basically just like every other car!
My basic E90 sedan Bims is like my Millennium Falcon land ship. She need a new DMTL pump 😏 aka component she get it.
Hey what’s going on man quick question if it’s DMTL pump does the check engine go off by itself or do you have to reset it
You'll have to reset it most likely. Not too many errors go away by themselves. Some do so maybe, maybe not
I have a 2012 328i . What’s is the part number for this fix, thanks
I'm not sure if it would be the same. I go to RealOEM.com. they will have parts with pics and part numbers
Looks like you've got some kind of severed ground wire there at 4:54. Shouldn't that be connected somewhere?
I saw that too! These cars are notorious for electrical issues due to faulty ground straps.
My 128i is throwing a P140A code any idea?
Secondary air pump code. I see the part coating from $55-$100. Not sure where it's located on your vehicle. But start from there and see what you find out
I'm about to change my motor on my m3 e92 4.7l
Damn, massive job! Should be interesting
Dude love the video , Did replacing the gas cap after solve the ses engine light for good ? ? , I have the same issue with my m3
No it didn't. I have a complete leaking gas overflow to the tank. Haven't even got under there to check it out. It only does it when I top it off.
RDDC oh wow how did you find that out ? Do you still have the SES Light on ? did you get it fixed ? I wonder what’s causing mine to have it on , aim going to get it checked soon
Do I need to disconnect the battery to change this part?
I didn't. Its not critical like an airbag
@@RDDC_Official Ok thank you very much for your video just my bm I have to change that piece and your video is perfect thanks
Not a problem. I got other diy videos just been too busy to sit down for a whole day to edit them with my new business
What was the problem? I have this same issue
Mine is an actual leak in the overflow tube. So if I fill my tank up gas leaks from under the car
@@RDDC_Official did you fix it ? Did the code go away?
No not yet man. Im so busy with my new business. I do have to find time though. Its just a nuisance
Will this cause trouble on fill up i can only put in like 20$ then the car thinks its full
That's most likely youre fuel sending unit. It's just saying you have low gas when really you don't. Some are inside the gas tank. I haven't been inside a gas tank in 20 years
@@RDDC_Official i have that same code and that's problem i have on fill up
@@RDDC_Official it says im full and it will shoot it back out threw the filler neck even when it is low on fuel
@@isidrogarza8309 sending unit is bad.
Is the dmtl pump in the same spot for the 325i
I'd imagine. You can pull off a screw or two from the underpanel and try to take a peek
@@RDDC_Official it’s located on the rear passenger side I just yanked one out today hoping to solves my error code.
@@nastytaco420 ok thanks. I'm not educated in the other models than the M
you got a broken ground cable 4:32
Yeah the ground cable on the other side has corroded away too. That's not related to my issue. I have a leaking overflow tube
Can this cause a misfire?
I'm gonna say no. While I'm no professional at this thing, what I know it's used for emissions purposes to detect a leak. Now, if it's restricting gas flow, which it shouldn't because it's not attached to the gas line, then maybe. But it's safe to say it does not. Misfires can come from bad coil packs
It can cause rough idle on the inline 6 engines when you start the car when cold, but not necessarily a misfire
Hi. Will a bad Dtml pump cause a gas cap to get wet with fuel on the gasket? Thanks
Sorry you're missing a word I think. Let me know what that word is so I can help ya out
@@RDDC_Official will a bad dtml pump cause gas cap to be wet always ? thanks a lot
@@MrBakakeng the dmtl pump is just an emissions think to check for a leak in the system. As for backflowing onto the gas cap, this im unsure of. Its shouldn't be wet and thats a pretty far distance for it to backstream to the gas cap from the tank, unless its a full tank. Try observing on a half of tank or near empty. That dmtl pump is a very basic device.
@@RDDC_Official thanks man. Big help
No problem man. I have a leak in my overflow I have to fix. Only happens as a full tank of gas.
The differential fins are not a jacking point on this car
I could care less to be honest. People been jacking cars up by the diff for ages. Clearly nothing went wrong, as I suspected
RDDC if it works for you, it’s all good.
Thanks...i know jacking points can be an issue on BMWs. To save time and effort, jacking from the diff works. Any other time I would have jacked one side up and put jack stands under. The E36 M3 I know you need to be super careful with those janky jack points in the side skirts
