That’s how most art directors I’ve known in my 25 years of career do it. There are a bunch of kids and wannabe artists and few professionals on CZcams so it makes sense people get impressed…
@@MayvaAva True, I guess I mean in a professional sense. People posing as professionals, as if they can teach others, critique or make something aimed at the market, when they don’t know the techniques and never led or directed any projects or anyone. They can be very misleading and impressionable for young aspiring artists. Worst yet, they’re usually the most confident ones.
@@ariwoodward do you look at every character that has brown hair and eye bags and call them sangwoo??? They don’t look alike at all especially since this dude has blue eyes. What are you talking about??
yup my aunt who is a math teacher taught me this at age 11 while I was drawing a cat ^^ still a core childhood memory for me. She taught me the proper angle and ratio of a human face while also telling me all skeletons are different especially in jaw shape
The way i screamed "THATS ALL I NEEDED TO DO???!" cuz i had so much issues with drawing consistent eye shapes and winged it based on 'feel' for so long😂😭
If anyone needs to know, the artist is my friend granddadamai over on twt! And no, it's not based on sangwoo or hunter, lol. His name is Hops, and he's a paperboy from the Great Depression whose friends are rats that he makes out of soot!
That character looks so adorable, I would eat up any type of media with a character that looks like that. So polite and confused looking, they give a vibe of a cat and and a bean. I want to give them a pet on the head and a cookie, tuck them in a bed and read them a fairytale.
Well he looks A LOT like Crowley (played by David Tennant aka Doctor Who) from Good Omens (on Amazon Prime). He is not exactly a "polite and confused" character but he sure is adorable in the show. The only difference are the eyes, he has yellow eyes in the show I recommend it, it's amazing.
I love seeing people give genuine advice instead of just “fixing” the art. If they do edit the drawing, they tell the person what they are doing and genuinely explaining it and finding joy in the art. Or they just give advice without editing the art. It actually teaches the artist (and other artists watching) something
Yo those drawings are amazing, props to the artist, but the suggestion and the example made go "woah" Thank you for the explanation, it really does help a lot with proportions!!
Seeing actually good, helpful art critique on social media is such whiplash. Great video, and great tip (been doing art for a fucking decade and hadnt thought of nor seen this 😭 thank goodness for other artists 💕💕💕)
When you draw for decades and come across a short that solves your issue in under one minute - thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely go back to some older character sheets now 😅
DUDE! THIS IS AMAZING! I WAS SO CONFUSE WITH MY CHARACTERS PROFILE! ill be using this to now have my characters facial expressions accurat to the first. THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!
I physically cringed over people comparing them, like is it the eyes? I'm not a fan of the comic at all, I kinda dislike it, but meh still bothering (as a side rant, I hate how people consider it a BL when it's a thriller)
@@SirFreakyPotato I think it is literally just the eybags, its stupid, really. (Side note: I also agree with you, it is annoying how people characterize it as a BL when it is NOT and even the creator confirmed it isn't)
Being a great artist isn’t about making a name for yourself or being perfect in every way, it’s the skill of making hard work look easy so others can learn.
Oh my god this is so helpful. I’ve figured out how to make eyes look proportionate width wise, but the height of the eyeballs has been bothering me. This will definitely help me draw the same characters consistently. Love your art tips! Super helpful and polite!
I have the same issue with my characters i guess it’s just cuz drawing side view isn’t really my strong suit but they always look different compared to the other views
Its interesting the op missed that considering how skilled they seem to be from the rest of the sheet. The moment the zoom in happened on that side profile im like "his eyes are way too low"
I made a sort of joke guess about what the issue was (my eyes are kind of nitpicky with my own art if that makes sense) and then I literally gasped when it was basically what you said. 😭🤣
yup, clocked it right when i saw it. i spent the better part of this semester drawing portraits in my figure class and now i can unsee shit like this lmao. though i didn’t think it was too low by comparing to the other heads, just to the centerline of its own head
Amazing tip! Can you explain how that works if the head is a different size like if it was zoomed in? Should the eye be as long (lengthwise) as the horizontal line?
I learned the side - profile cheat is basically the top of the ears usually line up with the bottom of the outer eyebrow. (Human ears anyway) The bottom of the nose usually meets up with the bottom of the ear lobe horizontally too, but this character has a shorter boyish face, so the fix is really subtle.

Very true, but you can't tell me you don't like SamDoesArt or find Ethan Becker at least amusing.

He looks troublesome yet gentle, it's a really strong design
You can already tell the personality just from the design, as a noob at character design I'm awed
i believe it is Sangwoo from Killing Stalking
def troublesome.. not so gentle
very adult comic if the name didn't tell you already

I think the eyes go from the tip of the nose to the brow ridge.
But maybe it's the style since it's stylised

This is so useful! Eyes are always a struggle to draw, so this definitely will come in handy. Tysm!
the character is so cute, it reminds me of Hunter and Agent 8
