- A tour of the brand new Blackpool Amusements on one of its soft opening days! This site is located in the building just to the left of the Blackpool Tower in a former woolworths / poundland store. It occupies 2 stories and is operated by Crown Leisure.
Holy moly one of the biggest arcades that I’ve ever seen
I think they have done well to give it an arcade feel considering it is a former retail premises.
Definitely. The flood lighting and wall art are brilliant. Although I question how long those suspended paper decorations are going to last.. 🤨
@BRIGHT Attraction their other place the golden mile amusements has got some good machines. However it is in a sorry state inside sadly.
@@scottmcculloch6480 Yeah I was suprized when they announced its going to stay open for another few years. Really needs a wrecking ball putting through it as sad as it is!
Have to say the place looks awesome, if pushers, grabbers and tickets are what you are into. Have to say the misus will love the LED lighting everywhere, it does look good.
I did see the Jackpot City section, which you didnt cover, i presume this is the section with the actual slots. Think I caught a glimpse of a PartyTime in there. But I can't really see there being anything ground breaking.

Haha that sounds like an over 18s area? I'm not actually 18 yet (only a couple weeks though!) So I've never done tours of those areas.

Amazing!! I'm going to Blackpool on Saturday next week to go to play lesiure and I'm going to go to the arcades so sure won't miss this arcade out! =)
I'm not sure if it'll be open for you as I don't think it's officially open. Definitely check it out though and I hope you get in.

Went in on Sunday it probably the best arcade I won the E. T and a monsters inc teddy from there very good arcade and got a escalator inside which is cool
Probably a stupid question as I did see a disabled toilet upstairs, but is there a lift? I only saw stairs and the escalators. I assume it’s just tucked in a corner somewhere hence why I didn’t spot it. But it’s always handy to know in advance about the accessibility of new places. Xx
Im not too sure to be honest. Id like to think so considering the toilet thing, would kind of render it pointless if there's no means of access for wheelchair users in the first place. If so its likely out the way somewhere where I didn't film particularly well.

Will Golden Mile Arcade by knocked down and replaced??
Even though it looks nice and modern , the days of proper nostalgia and creativity and skill bassed games in arcades are not there. The atmosphere is just dul and plain, like it makes me feel sick thats what all arcades are gonna be eventually, im so glad my arcades are still behind by 20 years because that was the peak of arcades!!!
You might be right. But it's a case of looking where the focus has been shifted to. Away from video games and gamblers and more into prize and ticket redemption arcade games.

Is it wheelchair accessible?
Had a commenter mention that there are lifts inside, and a disabled toilet on the first floor. Wheelchair users would have to use the rear entrance I believe as the promenade entrance has steps immediately in front of the door.

Didnt see either of those no. The reason for no slots is because they're priding themselves for being very family oriented. Hence the abundance of pushers and claws!

I respectfully disagree. As an arcade enthusiast I shouldn't imagine a place like this to fail quickly given that it's owned by a mid sized leisure firm, and other similar yet privately owned smaller arcades are still afloat. If content covering the amusement industry is boring for you then you're in the wrong place sorry.

@@paulskinner7029 Oh I'm not denying that lots of arcades have closed. It's certainly not what it was, but arcades were focusing on something different back then. Now that video games are almost an exclusively home activity, arcades have changed to prize and ticket redemption arcade games, which has taken away some of the individual charm of some arcades. Arcades closing is probably a direct result of Tory austerity though 🤷♂️
