Eine wichtige frage: Ist die Futur II normalerweise gebraucht in Deutschland?. Ich meine, in einem konventionelle situation/Gespräch, sollte ich diese futur II benutzen?

"The will floor will have been being swept" is this correct? It sounds wrong, either way I would never say it. Maybe "The floor will have become swept"? Do you have any examples that sound less awkward? Is Futur 2 used often by Germans?

The Futur 2 isn't very popular in German or English. It is only used when you really need to differentiate between something that will be done and something that will have been done at the time of another action that takes place in the future. I could give more examples, but the future 2 isn't used often enough for it to not sound awkward. It always sounds weird to me when i use it in English and I almost never use it in German.

I thought the Passive couldn't be used in constructions where the subject of the sentence is the INDIRECT recipient of the action (and would therefore be in the Dative in the Active-voice construction) because the Passive is translated literally. In other words, you can't say "The child was given a piece of chocolate" because the German passive of "geben" only refers to the thing that is given, NOT to the person to whom it is given. Thus, the only way to say "the child was given a piece of chocolate" is "ein Stück Schokolade ist dem Kind gegeben worden." Actually, though, I think the more common translation would simply avoid using the Passive altogether: "man hat dem Kind ein Stück Schokolade gegeben."

+Lee Cox The dative case simply isn't affected by the passive voice. The direct object becomes the subject while the indirect object remains in the dative case. The child in that example isn't the subject of the passive voice sentence, the piece of chocolate is.

Learn German with Herr Antrim Isn't that what I said? You can't literally say "das Kind ist ein Stück Schokolade gegeben worden."

+Lee Cox I misread what you wrote. I thought you were saying that the passive couldn't be used with the dative at all, but after rereading your comment, you are saying what I said in the video in different words.
