    Cropping is definitely linked to artistic composition. I think that's why many photographers struggle with it. Also conforming to preset aspect ratios is not always what's best for a particular composition. I think more often than not I end up using a custom aspect ratio for my crops and forgo any social media or off the shelf readymade frame size crops. But I think I am in the minority in that regard. Thanks.

      Thanks a lot for the comment. I also tend to crop to however the frame fits around the image, regardless of aspect ratio. Cropping is definitely a huge artistic decision, as important as the initial composition idea. Thanks for watching 😊

    On high iso photos should I use a noise reduction software first before cropping?

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  Před 7 dny +1

      Hi Ken, I would always do noise reduction from the original RAW file. If you crop in Lightroom, it’s not changing the actual file data, it’s merely applying a virtual change so it doesn’t matter when you run the noise reduction because you’re still dealing with RAW Data, but if you’re cropping in Photoshop on a Tiff or psd file, you would definitely need to have run DENOISE before. Hope that helps.

    Amazing content Mark! Could you please tell me your Lightroom export settings for best quality? I’m noticing a big quality loss on my uploads to IG and in general comparing to the image in Lightroom just before. Thanks a lot !!

      Thanks so much for watching. I’ll try make a video about this topic, I’ve had this question a few times so I’ll see if I can get it done soon. 😊

    Awesome as always Mark 😉
    I always struggle with deciding on an aspect ratio when cropping, and when I export. Do I leave it at 3:2? Or change it to 4:3, or even 4:5?
    3:2 works for FB, but not always for IG

    The intro and editing style reminds me of simon d'entremonts.

      Thanks for the comment. I have taken Inspiration from the way Simon presents his videos, as far as editing style, I’ve been editing my photos this way for at least 10 years now.

    Hi Mark, Great tips, always like your tutorials. I have 24m mp camera and like shooting small birds. Always worried if that is enough for small crops or would using something like gen expand 'Neo' or enhance 'lightroom' on the original help or hinder things? Thanks.

    • @MarkDumbleton
      @MarkDumbleton  Před 18 dny

      Thanks a lot for watching and for the comment. What lens focal length are you using? 24mp can be a bit limiting compared to a 45mp sensor for example, but I guess it also depends on the final use for the image? Big crops are fine for social media, but for printing it definitely limits the amount you can crop.
