I absolutely think that conversation is a good way to test how a student drives with minor distractions. It also helps lighten the mood in the car, during one of the most stressful times of their life. So I absolutely agree and ENCOURAGE instructors to make small talk with the student/examinee
To all y'all stressing about your upcoming test - I promise you you're overestimating it! No matter how much you practice, nothing will get rid of those butterflies in your stomach when driving to the DMV - just try your absolute best, learn your routes, and SMOG, SMOG, SMOG! aww i went to this location and got this guy as my instructor. He was conversating w me (when we were stopped at the lights) and he made me feel comfortable. i got my license (w no errors) around covid time so the test was literally 10 mins around the block. it was chill !
today was my test and i passed on first try (CALI) , tbh it was light work I had practice for 3 months driving/studying and believe me if u practice u wont be scared, but excited to show someone u can drive fr.

This reminds me of the examiner I had! He asked me “how am I doing?” a couple times. 😂 He made me feel way less nervous which helped me pass 😊

Took and passed my test today and they still use this route. I also think this was the same instructor, good guy. The video captions describing what to do in certain situations helped a lot!

@@kidwiththekoolaid I failed, I made one dumb turn, I turned to early in a turn lane! Other than that the instructor said I did really good being under pressure! Test next week, feeling sucks that I failed but now I know and will not make the same mistake again!

My test is on april 13th ! I have been driving for somewhat 15 years in Indonesia (long and short distance to work, even roadtrip from city to city), but driving in USA is totally different. Been practicing for weeks, but still not confident enough to nail the american road. Wish me luck!

Thank you for these videos as they helped me alot to prepare mentally for the road test. I was lucky as I did made some major mistakes but my examiner was really cool about it. He didn't automatically failed me for hitting the curb as it was real tight street and he told me to be aware of that when ever you drive. So I would add something, before the test start talk to the examiner because it helps to calm those nevers down alot.

My test is on Wednesday June 28th at 8am. I'm so nervous! I've had my permit for 8 months and I've driven almost every day. I live in Utah so the test will probably be slightly different but these videos are helping out alot.

I passed!! I only had 3 minor errors, and the test was only 15 minutes long. I had a bit of a scare on the way to my appointment, though. I was driving on a highway where the speed limit was 50mph. Some dumbass decided to just completely stop so he could lane change left. I slammed on my breaks and almost hit the dumbass, and the car behind me had to swerve out of the way smh.

update:
it went well! the examiner was nice, but at one point she said i went 36 in a 30 zone. (tbh, there was a sign that said the speed limit was 40, but that wasn't until i actually *passed* the sign.)
but in the end, she said she thought i was a good driver and she passed me.

Update: postponed to the 5th of July I drove myself to the DMV office im 22 years old and they immediately refused my test because I needed an accompanied licensed driver with me saying"
