There is a lyric video for "Monochrome" with English subtitles. It'll give you a better idea of what the song's about. After that, you should look for their performance on The First Take doing "Monochrome" piano version. Amazing.
Su and Moa themselves said about 'Metal Kingdom' that it needed the live performance to bring it to life (something like that at least). I can't wait to see and hear a live performance of 'METALIZM' - I bet the whole place will go completely bonkers - and those guitar solos won't be low in the mix.🎸🤘
Metalizm was my favourite track on the album upon first listen, but I think MAYA has taken that spot since I've had more time to listen to the album. It's good to remember that they do not consider this to be their fourth album, but rather their first concept album, in other words its not cannon. I'm super exited for their live show this weekend which is apparently the end of "THE OTHER ONE" chapter and the start of the next era.
Totally great point about it their first concept album and not their fourth studio album per se. MAYA I think is probably my favorite after listening multiple times too
I do agree with light and darkness being a bit anime-like but I feel it's more the result of it being the most similar to a normal jrock song. We're just first exposed to the type of music through anime so there's a connection in our head that isn't really true imo. Overall after listening to it more it's one of my favourites because of how interesting the structure is overall. The second chorus has this wonderfully jarring rhythm change for the chorus that feels unexpected every time. And the third chorus has a fakeout drop where only the piano plays a chord before the full instrumental comes down. All of the choruses have different instrumentation and every verse is completely different. Metalizm I agree with the guitar being too low but I guess they wanted to mix it that way to enhance the middle eastern sound. It's anyway one of the songs I'm most interested to hear live, along with maya. Weirdly for me the order of my favourites was pretty much flipped after listening to the album more and out of the heavier songs only maya is up there anymore. Overall I actually find it to be their second best album now, behind just metal resistance even though it's nothing like expected. And that really was the concept of the album, just doing everything differently. Drop the crowd parts, drop the cute and wacky stuff, overall more serious tone and making every song have similar feel so the album actually sounds cohesive on a listen. The only thing that really stayed was the strong songwriting and experimentation. For their next album my one wish is just to return to having more variety which I do think will happen. I'm not particularly a fan of the modern metal sound so that's the one part I don't really enjoy so much on TOO, which is also why songs like mirror mirror are actually closer to the bottom of my list here.
When you hear a song for the first time and you don't think its good, thats sometimes a good thing. It means you are listening to something not in your usual comfort zone. Its so different that your senses cant relate at first. But once you listen a couple more times or watch the live version, you may actually think its the best song. Thats how I felt about half the Babymetal songs I heard. Same with this album. Love it more and more with every listen. Cant wait to hear the lives.
yep, I also think the same about light and darkness, it's the piano that gives it that "anime" vibes Mirror, Maya, Metalizm and Monochrome my favs. But still prefer the previous albums. :)
@@jmetalhead17 I go to see them in 2 weeks time and I hope METALIZM is one of the songs performed live, along with all time favourites, Headbanger, Megitsune, etc.
Good reaction! My favorite song is MAYA, and I think the one I liked the least is TIME WAVE, but is a good song. Although I keep a space in my heart for Monochrome, since it is beautiful.
I am told that when METALIZM was played in the second Yokohama concert the American Kamis were not low in the mix, but given reign to solo. I will have to see if this is the same in the concerts where they support Sabaton, where their time on stage will inevitably be squeezed. I am at the first in Leeds a week tomorrow
If you would like to react to an artist you might not have heard of before, I recommend Aesthetic Perfection with the song Gods & Gold. They’ve worked with members of Rammstein
In recent interviews, Su and Moa have stated that The Other One is NOT the fourth Babymetal album and they describe it as a side story, so I think that might be why it's shorter than the prior albums. The fact that Avenger Momoko was officially elevated to become Momometal at the recent concerts in Yokohama also suggests they they will want to get back into the studio fairly soon to record new material now that they are officially a trio again. One interesting thing we know is that many of the songs on this album have been in development for a long time; Moa mentioned in an interview that Monochrome has been a work in progress for five years.
That's really interesting. Im very excited to see what "BABYMETAL IV" looks like then. I did see the news about momoko which is awesome to see a true 3 piece again.
I've to say so far I've not skipped anything on this one, not even Metal kingdom or Light and Darkness, which to me are the weakest ones 😅, way better than Metal Galaxy, where I usually jump Oh! MAJINAI, Night, Night Burn and In The Name Of... though I love the Trilogy of Light. My compliments for your review 😊👍, though I disagree on METALIZM, I mean, who else would have put a shredding solo there 😅? 🤘🦊⚡️
Speaking of Shredding song this is the only point I have to deduce my score on this otherwise great album I really miss some songs structured like Akatsuki/ROR/Arkadia

Thanks for letting me know! I will be sure to check out both of those!
Yup, Monochrome is really a beautiful song...

Is there a BM TOO react video you haven't commented on? lol!
@@blakethetank There must be ...
I do hope METALIZM is included in the Sabaton support show.
@@wildething7923 I really hope so too.
So many BABYMETAL songs take on a whole new life once they hit the stage. So we'll see what exciting things they do with the new material!

100% I agree. BABYMETAL songs especially take on a new life when performed live

Mirror, Maya, Metalizm and Monochrome my favs. But still prefer the previous albums. :)
I'm with ya on most of those pics. I'm glad I'm not crazy about Light and Darkness sounding anime like😂
Funny how people's opinion's are. METALIZM is the one track I keep putting on repeat.
Everyone has different taste, happy to hear you're enjoying that track!
@@jmetalhead17 I go to see them in 2 weeks time and I hope METALIZM is one of the songs performed live, along with all time favourites, Headbanger, Megitsune, etc.
Same with me Metalizm is my fav. I say Monochrome and Maya my two other favs.
Metalizm is good but not my fav, diabetes EDM for me. I prefer Maya, Believing, Mirror Mirror, Devine Attack.
This album is growing on me.

I agree on MAYA being the fave track. Monochrome is also fantastic
that indeed was a saxophone

That would be awesome! I have not seen that performance yet but I would love to see them shredding live
i love the album so much i have it on repeat
Every song is DIFFERENT and UNIQUE Check all LIVE PERFORMANCE *Only*
For sure. BABYMETAL always makes the live performance insane

51:00 hahaha yes, I was also surprised to suddenly hear a saxophone in The legend.
Babymatal😎
It's cool they're translating Metalverse as sekai (using せかい as furigana) which means world. Reiterating that the metelverse is their world.
I did not notice that, super cool!
Good reacción
Ford me this álbum is Good

Thank you! I don't want to make any placement decisions until I have heard it all more. But yeah there are still a lot of solid tracks on this record

Totally agree with you. Every word, this is till a good album
100% wrong about Metalizm but to each their own.
Kinda like Papaya. Lots of people love it, but lots of people dont because it is a bit repetitive... I love it though;)
