- WARNING: This video may make you sad, or depressed, or angry. This is the same junkyard I visited 9 months ago, but now with new inventory. Some highlights include: two skylines, an AMG Mercedes, a few LS Lexuses, and a retro mini cooper. If you like any of the cars in this video, be sure to hit that "like" button! Thank you for watching!

There is, however, a cold comfort to this:
*Unlike the US, Japan does not export scrap steel to China.*
Meaning that while these cars will be destroyed, they will at least be spared the humiliation of being reborn as some horrific counterfeit car.
maybe bc American cars are horrific counterfeit cars themselves compared to Japanese cars?
"WARNING: This video may make you sad, or depressed, or angry."
Yep, all three :(
Who is putting these cars in the junkyard? Isn't that considered murder?!
+guywhowatches1 If you actually look at the 34, it is a fairly basic car and quite old. It was 13 years old at time of the video, and check out the corrosion in trunk and under the hood. It is like oggling over a V6 Camaro or some 250cc sportbike. End of day is just a basic transport in a nice body.
Hate to say it, but my VW gti from same years is better equipped and would outperform it but if the two were side by side, who who would give a golf body a second glance? Over there, the car is very meh, The engine is the good meh, but still we have to consider that only the top tier we oggle and forget that over there they have the whole model lineup.
That mini though... That is surprising that is in there!
+MarkusReese No hate, but the R32-R34 Skylines are the cars that even today, more than 10 years since they were produced, have some of the highest performances in the world. Also they aren't about practicality or equipment, they are a way of life for their owners.
Alin Alyn546 Umm... best look up the numbers. Very few actually had high performance. So the year is 1998, You had two four door models. Base RB20DE Neo or the RB25DE. 150, or 200 hp respectively. I want you to compare to the "junk" engines from the Americans.
So on the american side. I am going to use GM since that is what I know. The Ecotec 4s engines had near same horsepower, and more torque than the RB20. The RB25 had much less torque than my older v6 and just a bit more horsepower.
the GT-Four started getting somewhere, and then GT-T is where started performance. The base models were quite functional. Automatic transmissions, big four doors and good looking? It was just a nice midsize sedan.
The ones that actually were performers are rare. They are a fantastic looking car, but majority were honestly just bigger cars, a bit of style but about as much performance as a v6 camaro of the time.
I am not badmouthing the skyline. Just saying that in the places where they were actually marketed, it was a car but if you had the cash, there was the top performance versions.
I mean would you say a base lancer or Impreza is good because the Evo and STI got the right stuff? As for highest performance this day, in serious numbers, they are competitive but nowhere near the best even against comparable sports cars from elsewhere all over the world.
+MarkusReese no performance skylines? your forgetting that the skyline in the videos are standard or a strait gt. your forgetting about the skyline gtr lineup
tammy bong No, not forgetting. Those statements were just in the context of the flipside of your interpretation of them all being performance cars. I was only addressing that while the GTR and GTS-t were serious performance sport saloons/coupes, majority of skylines were just lower power, heavier sedans.
My opening statement was meant to be only directed specifically at the ones seen in this video and the originating comment about "why would these be in a junkyard"
They would because while the ones in vid are fantastic looking, in the end it is a fairly basic, no frills family car. Best used as parts for keeping the performance models on the road or recycled.
I see it here as the 15 year aged import prohibition comes about. To import a vehicle to Canada from any country (US exempt) it has to be 15 years old to the manufacturing date of that specific chassis. I know more than a few guys who have paid some serious bucks cause skylines are high performance cars and neglecting the fact that majority of the models were not performance.
Result? For the cost of a decent sportscar, they get a low performance version of a skyline that cannot keep up with my 92 sunbird GT... (Power to weight and all that mentioned in my previous comments)
Don't think I am knocking the car. The Skyline is easily my favorite of all the imports from the modern era of vehicle tech. I just take into account that not all skylines are GTR/GTS-t
According to CZcams stats, this is the most popular video that links to my videos.
Thanks to the channel and to the viewers for clicking through.
did no one else notice how he missed the silver r34 skyline?
yea
Its the er34 cause its 4 door
what time in video?
+Mitchell Martin 5:15 i think.
+Krishnaprasad C and another one at 7:36
Damn I've seen worst cars at my local used car dealership. Specially the "buy here, pay here!" Lmao
A lot of these are probably flood cars. They look fine at first glance but are basically ruined.
WOAH! A "Texas Exes" STICKER IN JAPAN? THAT'S CRAZY!
+crunchee YEA
Alot of people in Japan like the big TEXAS IS THE GREATEST DAMN STATE IN THE WORLD mentality that some of us Americans have.
+crunchee This junkyard primarily deals with Americans stationed on Okinawa.
RIP to the Mini Cooper
+crunchee This junkyard is located right outside of Gate 1 near Kadena AB in Okinawa. lots of american recycle their cars instead of dealing with selling them on short notice.
In Japan a Nissan skyline is like the altima. Everyone has them. It's not America people. U go to Japan and get a Skyline people won't be impressed like they would be here in LA.
same with new zealand.
Same in Australia we see them a lot
Uriah Lol New Zealand has family van and ute
In argentina they are so fucking uncommon, their value is like 100k dollars or more, obviously in a good condition
Regular Skyline, yes, but the GTR ? Not so much because they are quite pricey even in their homeland Japan.
this guy knows his shit. good job
the rare edition " subaru impreza casablanca " in here, unbelievable
Literally wtf
Im actually crying right now D:
fancy seeing you here
+Lachy Bell who dis?
+o Lemurs I know when I saw a glimpse of the first r34 my heart kinda dropped but it wasn't a GTR
found you again :)
o Lemurs I like your gamerpic
It looks like every car in this junkyard is a Japanese made car, no Kia, Volkswagen, Ford, Chevy, just straight Japanese made cars!
+EricandJoe Fortney Because the Japanese will only use home-made stuff. The same reason Playstations sell well over there, and Xbox does poorly. They are right though, because Japanese equals quality, and my Japanese girlfriend is the nicest girl ever, been with her 12 years :)
SuperJames 1985 damn boy 12 years
+SuperJames 1985 damn Daniel!!! 12 years
+EricandJoe Fortney Mercedes and Mini Cooper are European. But yeah for the most part they were mostly Japanese. I think every country prefers to buy stuff from their own shores. Kind of like the Americans who only buy 'Merican. A lot of Japenese people only buy 'Panese. lol!
***** why cause its korean
Most of the "otherwise mint" looking cars are probably ones caught swimming in tsunami seawater, so 99% of electronics and wiring harness is corroded. Sad, but what can you do.
that isnt the case. 98% of these cars are not water damaged.
*****
Well, since i don't know the exact backround on the cars in this video i wont start arguing :) Usually with cars, that don't look like they belong in a scrap yard, water damage is the reason but... who knows what the case is here.
most of these cars are junked because they are too expensive to fix to pass the biannual safety inspection (shaken or JCI). When you have to spend $1000 to fix a car that is only worth $1000, most people junk the car for $200 and buy another one.
*****
Oh i see. That makes sense. In my country, people keep all cars alive at any cost, even 500$ ones. Depends on the make ofcourse. If the parts are cheap and plenty of 'em in the yards available.
This video makes me wanna cry...
Try a Dubai junk yard
lol i would love to see that.
JTRZ Jtrz w
am I the only one that thinks those cars on top of each other are scary to walk by?
Kevin zz nope
I actually agree with u saying that it's creepy
I was freaking out too mate
I liked this video, but couldn't watch it. Not after the last one; for the reasons you mentioned in your description :\
Going to watch some Mighty Car Mods now to cheer myself up.
+PIK hahaha good idea!
You can adopt one at an auction :)
if i was there, I would take off all the badges off the skyline and bring them back to the states to do something with them..
+Zoren Acoba lol thats what im thinking all the time
I agree but I'll buy one to rebuild for my collection
That SL is a R129.There were 3 AMG models, all were V12's. The SL 60, SL 70 and SL 73. None of them had quad exhausts. The SL 500 didn't even have the dual exhaust in the video, so it might just be an actual AMG. Even if it's only an SL 60, it's very valuable.
Didn't even mention the Toyota Celica at 5:30
Larry, is a very nice man. I appreciate all his help.
I feel a hole inside that only a r34 can fill
How did I not know you had this passion for cars?? definitely like this channel even more now.
why the fuck do they put the shitty cars on top of the super nice cars. let alone pile them on the nice cars
What a nice adventure through this jungle of lost treasures! If I had the money, I would love to rescue some of these automobiles from this junkyard...
if you ever find an r31 in the wreckers, you owe me a box of tissues
In Japan, you pay an extremely high tax for having an older vehicle. After so many years most people can't pay to keep their car, and they just get rid of it.
can you buy the cars or parts from these junkyards?
+Steven Ngu yes, you can buy parts.
sweet thanks for the reply.
+TechnologyMafia there corolla over there
how to buy parts
+Steven Ngu Actually thats the whole mean of these kind of businesses, the profit that comes with the sale of parts, public aids, recycling..
+Steven Ngu depends, all of the items in that yard are scrap. Problem when buying right now UK buyers have the advantaged in Japan at the moment UK buyers have an advantage in Japan with the exchange rate. So you're going to be competing up against them.
Cars in Japan are scrap after 5 years of usage so thats why their junkyard cars looks good. Mostly of this cars ending up being ship to Malaysia for halfcut engine conversion or parts cause Malaysia do have many japanese sports cars such as the skylines, subarus and the evos.
the orange miata was stacked on top of a subaru Casablanca, it is just a impreza wagon with a different front end, very ugly in my opinion but still interesting that its made by subaru
Just somehow got recommended this video. Did not know you were into cars lol, so awesome!
I can't even watch this video i'm dying on the inside :(
A lot also probably didn't pass JCI and the owners didn't want to get it fixed. Cars are a dime a dozen over there. The JCI is a strict multi point inspection/emissions. When I was stationed over there it was about $600 just for the inspection.
This is kinda sad to watch, most of the vehicles look like they could easily be restored. Oh well..😕
I agree
The reason there’s so much random JDM cars there is because in Japan once the cars hit like 20k miles they just throw them away to junkyards
I'd just steal that mini
This does in fact make me sad. In my head I'm just saying "Please, give me all those, they need to be restored and gifted to others, please let me have.
Skyline at 6:00 thank me later!
also next to the miata at 5:16 you can see the tails and at 4:23 you can see the front end of an R34 Sedan.
Oh shit. how did I not notice that?? Nice one
MONO SAXORALLA w
Japan is a island nation and most of the people live near the coast. A lot of these cars probably have flood damage or corrosion issues even if they appear fine at first glance.
5:16 there's a mint r34 he walks past
Pritpaul Dhesi Its only a 4 door....
Jarrads 32 only a 4 door.....?????
Pritpaul Dhesi e
(Actually Junkyards are also an area to hide stolen cars in Japan,in 2019 they are many cases of thefts including GTRs and Supras and Crowns and Mostly expensive luxury cars)
Cars seem to die at a much earlier age there than they do here. Some of the cars there look almost brand new,a good amount are less than 10 years old and way too clean to ever see in an American Junkyard...
That Toyota you bought for $1100 is 10 times better than anything you could've bought for double that price here. Do they just hate older cars?
i think they get scraped there because of japans safety regulations not too sure tho
+kirbyswarp No there law there that when ur car does 60k miles it must die but there good news here go there pick them up for cheap bring home an make in a car u can use.
Bootleheadian Gaming That's awful. Think of all the rare JDM cars that die so young.
yes but u pick up cars cheap I mean some JDM cars, K cars there perfect for UK for nothing an still loads of life in them.
+Bootleheadian Gaming Not sure where you heard that, but that's completely wrong. Driving laws in Japan are strict, and since many used cars are cheap, many of them end up in junkyards when something goes wrong.
i like that he is more excited about the mini than the R34 xD
3 skylines u missed one by the first miata
+TONY TBIRD yes, good catch.
+TechnologyMafia i never knew they came in auto i thought only the newer models like the r35
not called a miata there, its an eunos roadster.
This junkyard is located right outside of Gate 1 near Kadena AB in Okinawa. lots of american recycle their cars instead of dealing with selling them on short notice.
You missed an R34 at 5:16
didn't see that one and also it was a 4 door
+Colton McCloud it's still an R34, well ER34 but you get the picture. What a sad place to be. That junkyard.
Cole Miller its r33 4door
When I watch these kind of videos I always think about drifting 🚗
Oh man! You walked right by a Subaru Impreza Casablaca! Extremely rare even in Japan. And ugly as hell. lol
dead91silvia I was going to disagree as Subarus are actually pretty good looking, but i Googled that one, and I actually have to agree, one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen, it looks like a spider. Lmao
R34 GT SKYLINE AT 6:00? THATS MY DREAM CAR. Seriously, who throws away these nice cars instead of fixing them
5:00 Ewww why would anyone put one of those body kits on the impreza under the miata
+Brian Williams thats a factory kit, theres a couple like that near me lol
It's a Casablanca
+Stephen Schafer was in the video the factory built ones are EXTREMELY rare.
That's when Subaru went for a retro style in the 90s
That is the subaru casa blanca the headlights and tails go for big money in the states. Suprised the guy in the video overlooked it for a miata Lol.
You know what, this video hurted me a lot ... If I was there, I'll just die due to seeing these beautiful cars being destroyed by putting these trucks on them! Most of these cars are in mint condition.
why didnt you take a look at the celica? 😭
thanks dude because of this video i confinced a friend to go to japan with me :D
Paul Walker would be in tears
Paul walker preferred Supra sorry bro
+Amasushuky (Amas) what car did paul walker use in every movie a skyline
Edilson Reyes what car he actualy owns?wait ,,,,,owned?Supra
+Amasushuky (Amas) he owns a gtr r34
In fact I believe he owns the world's biggest R-34 Collection
I wish I had any of these junkyard cars lol, here in Poland most cars are from 1995-2005, and there are some really nice, new cars on the junkyard. I'm driving '98 VW Polo, so...
you found 5 skylines not 2.
Where did you see 5 skylines? I saw only 3 skylines on the video. Grey R33 GTS, silver R34 GT-X and black R34 GT.
HenkkaWRC
2:45 5:47 7:16
LOL. The V35 shouldn't even be called Skyline. It is like the cancer of the Skyline-series. It has more in common with the Z-series than Skyline-series. For example it shares the same FM-platform and the same VQ-engine with the 350Z.
its more of a skyline than the GT-R
*****
the skyline died with the C110 to me
This is th real video that made the whole world cry
there was another r34 at 5:15 lol
thats not a skyline
nevermind i looked wrong
WorksProductionFilms yeah I see it
Not a r34
Michael Clark it is, its 4 door
Also the early 90-91 Lexus LS400 exports had cloth seats as standard, just like the Japanese . Leather was an option that most dealers got when they ordered them for their lots because it was supposed to be a new High End Car model from Toyota. . There are many examples of this in USA and Sweden and Canada
such a waste - we live in a disposable world - I bet these cars are only a few years old on average & already destroyed
James Shelnutt I see 2016 cars demolished
It's the strict laws close to ten yrs old cars is worthless in Japan
My guess is that many of them took a swim in the tsunami and are totally corroded inside.
The cars shown here..... its real sad to see these sweet cars to be in a place like this.....
Could it be that those are the cars that as a result of the japanese tsunami have water damage and thus are practically unsalvagable
True. Also it might be that the skyline had damaged engine and since its a base model skyline it isn't worth repairing.
Although there were a few Skylines in that junk yard, they weren't the top models, such as that R33 with a single cam motor which is the model no one really modifies. They are basically a dim a dozen in Japan.
Why in Japan there is no Infiniti?
+Cade because there is Nissan.
theres Nissan in America too though.
Because it's an export-only brand.
+Car Lover yeah but they have the cars just not the brand
Infinity is nissan its just the brand made in the states just like lexus and scion to toyota and acura to honda
There was another Skyline in the video you might have missed. It was a Silver R34 Sedan on top of the silver LS400 at 4:25
a JDM Mini Cooper
The cool car I saw
You missed the Silver R34 Sedan:/ That Black R34 GT is the Non turbo GTT model, hence the dull dash without the gauges. It has the RB25DE, the NA RB25DET. That Black R33 also looked to have an NA RB30 from an early model skyline or VL Commodore.
click bait. there's no Nissan gtr
Tabian Coombes go to 6:00
Tabian Coombes you are right they is a gt but not gtr
there never was a gtr in the thumbnail it was a gt. please learn cars before you say stuff
Tabian Coombes it's not even a GTR
there was an R33 and an R34
WHOA! so that mini van you said that no one cared about had what looked to be Euroline wheels on it. Which are pretty expensive in the states.
5:34 a celica. You missed it dude.
They aren't much though lol
www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/toyota/celica/postcode/l142ee/radius/1500/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/quicksearch/true
TitanQuest Greece my friend has 2 celicas i got tons of vids :p
Ελλαδάρα
all the tears that have been shed from the skyline gt and gtr lovers
Can you look more into the Hondas next time?
Hondas hold their value pretty good in Japan so maybe that's why they aren't as common in junkyards
Hondas are very techie
No
It's not a Mini cooper but a Mini Tartan Limited Edition (Cooper is like the fast version), which still is quite rare and it definitely does not belong in a junk yard in this condition. Very sad :(
5:14 another Skyline up there when you were turning the camera, you didn't see that one.
yeah it was a sliver one
Adonis Amarante r33 I think
Nope, just base model R34, HR34 to be clear.
Anyways, it's still a skyline. And still sad to see in a junkyard.
Nah... There are buttloads of low milage, good condition base model Skylines on the roads of Japan.
Don't worry guys those Skylines aren't going to perish, they're just going to slowly be broken down and put into other Skylines all across Japan.
rip Nissan skyline
breaks my heart to see those altezzas just scrapped
The silver R33 is either a turbo or a GTR. The black R34 is non-turbo but I can't tell if it's a 2 liter or a 2.5.
The Japanese have an extremely strict Yearly vehicle safety check..and most cars do not make it through ...hence the keep selling new cars
Thanks you saved me a trip to the junkyard out Gate 1 Kadena. I see something I need in there. Plus non GTR skylines or a waste and you never see locals driving them only Americans.
That engine in the skyline gt he couldnt identify was an RB25DE NEO so basically a VVL RB25DE
When I went to Japan last summer I went to a junkyard and saw an r34 skyline gtr and a Nissan Silvia s15 but couldn't buy either of them
All these cars look to be in good, some like new shape. I guess that in Japan, if you get a flat tire, you just junk the car and buy a new one! Lol
You missed the dark blue Acura TL ( not sure what it's called in Japan ) around 2:43 . I know it's not a super interesting car, I guess I'm just partial to it because my mom bought a silver one when I was 2 and we had it until 2010 when my big sister wrecked it. We have an MDX now. Hondas/Acuras are great cars, that's why you don't see many in junkyards lol.
Dude that mini cooper is so legit
I am not going to lie: I cried a bit when I saw this video. The Skylines and the WRX really made me sad :( I would die to have either of those cars and people over there just throw them away. Half of the cars looked like they were still in running condition and took most of the damage due to the storage.
Interesting video. Just out of interest, do they strip out some of the cars for usable parts and then crush the remaining unusable bits like the bodyshell? As that is how the cars here in the UK junk yards are like. Also the junk yard you showed looks neat and tidy compared to some that I have seen elsewhere. Interesting to revisit of the cars that used to dominate many households and families and it proves that nothing lasts forever.
so sad. i think the hardest part is how the cars don't look to be in too bad of shape.
That Mini though.... what a tragedy. Hopefully they'll part it out.
How did you not notice that rare Mitsuka conversion impreza wagon at 5:02 lmao
How are these cars supporting post weight to hold a complete car on its roof shell I’m impressed
I want that Mini. What an awesome project that would be to restore. What a sin.
Why was there no mention of the Impreza at 5:03? They made VERY few of those with that front end.
"We found two Skylines, which is cool"
"cool"
Let that sink in for just a moment.
Imagine the amount of money you could make if you were a really good mechanic and welder and bought this property. Fix all the cars up sell them off, people send in their cars because they’ve been flooded or wrecked in a car crash and if it hasn’t got much chassis damage fix them up get them running smooth again
Dude, a ls400 is a luxury car:) I have heard that they are very silent inside
Any one got a site where you can buy parts form Volvo 850 S/V70 etc from a scrapyard or something? I am looking for a set (complete) of folding electric side mirrors to my 850 T-5R.
They where an option in Japan back then and not sold anywhere else.
I go to junkyards just to pull out the car logos 👍😂😀😎
Oh and sometimes people leave there license plate so I take them 😊
get that mini cooper and restore it! won't take much to save a classic!
so many altezzas.. here in Toronto I rarely come across an IS in the junk yard :$
Some Windoms came with factory V8's as well. (good cars)
