The images you used about a supposedly xenophobic Soweto are not even from Soweto. Quite misleading. Many foreign visitors come to Soweto,even backpack and stay in Soweto while in South Africa. Nothing happens to them. I remember more xenophobic attacks in the parts of Joburg you’re comfortable in - Yeoville, Doornfontein etc. The narrative that Sowetans are violent is discriminatory. It needs to stop!

SOWETO is an amalgamation of different townships congested across the area. Like most places SOWETO has it's dodgy areas. Deep SOWETO as we call it where everything happens.
Unfortunately for Safety concerns and public view for PR Sake, most tourists end up in the Orlando/Diepkloof townships which is only a snippet of what Soweto is about.
None the less people are always welcome to visit the South Western TOWNSHIPS. Notice how I said TownshipS and not just one township
