    This is extremely impressive. They did a great job with the graphics, it almost doesn't even look like an NES game, and the sound isn't too bad, either. If only the NES had a couple more channels to work with.

      CrazyRiverOtter They are the ones who also ported Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog (knon as Somari) to the NES. To be honest, I think both are pretty impressive. Although Sonic & SMW's music and physics could need some improvement, I still find it cool.

  • @DejaVoodooDoll
    @DejaVoodooDoll Před 10 lety +13

    Most of the limits on the NES were caused by limited cart space. The best pirated games take advantage of the fact memory is a lot cheaper now to create games that would have been impossible during the NES's lifetime. It's why pirate Final Fight 3 is superior to the official release of Mighty Final Fight.
    The other trick is using pre-rendered shadows to make these 3 color and a transparency sprites* look far more detailed than they really are. Nobody could afford to do that back then, either.

For that reaseon, when level 4 starts, it glitch out and crash.

      @Densester Před 4 lety

      @@ivanivan3426 kek the way you put it, yeah it probably couldn't. I actually looked up the Family Game and it's apparently a clone of the Dendy, you know the most influential famiclone in gaming history, the one that was so popular is made nintendo officially support russian consumers? Yeah, unlike the Dendy though, which was a fairly competent clone the family game apparently has many issues with graphics and sound. It's got the same shell as a dendy except the controllers look different, having a shield pad rather than a D-Pad, kinda like a Genesis controller's. Basically the entire thing is a mess, and quirks like this are what make bootleg history so interesting.

    • @ivanivan3426
      @ivanivan3426 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Densester Wow, really interesting to know this. When i was a kid, i had no idea, i just tested like 3 cartridges of this game and none of them worked fine. Sometimes, in the water level, i got to break a barrel and not freeze the game, but became very glitchy and slow gameplay (sorry for my english). Then I returned it because couldn't pass through level 4, than it starts with breaking a barrel. So, i couldn't ever play with Diddy Kong as a kid. In my country it was very common to have these family clones and not the original one, there were a lot of family versions. Yesterday i checked my old stuff, and i found a cartridge with 4 Mario games in it, Mario 6, 9, 16, 24. Bootlegs were very common in my country
