Valdez looks incredible! Loved the story of the way the town was abandoned and moved after the earthquake. My favorite though had to be the salmon! So many fish and those sea lions had life way too easy. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comment. We were so amazed by the salmon that we went back to the hatchery 3 times during our visit to the area. We had enough footage that I think we could have done an hour long video showing only fish! We loved it!

Wow! What a great video! This is what everyone who can’t physically go there but would love to see. Your photography is awesome too. Beautiful pink flowers bordering the waters with breathtaking mountains in the background. You tastefully incorporated the history of the area, and I have to add the thousands of salmon swimming up stream to spawn; amazing! Great video!

We love your videos! I am very much wanting to see the fish at Solomon Gulch next summer. Can you tell me the dates you were there to get to see them? I haven’t been able to find any specific information about the times they are running. Thanks!

Thanks for watching the channel! We were in Valdez in late July/early August. The salmon show up at various times of the year, depending on the variety of salmon. When we were there, the majority of the fish were pink salmon, with just a few silver salmon mixed in. The Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery website states "...the salmon return to spawn-from mid-June through August"

Can l take a day tour for veldel from Anchorage

We aren't sure what kind of tours are available. There might very well be a flight tour there, but it is a five and a half hour drive from Anchorage to Valdez, so we wouldn't recommend a day trip by road. We actually allowed ourselves several days to go the distance since there are so many amazing sights along the way. Sorry we can't be more help, but we didn't do any formal tours in the area.

We’re going next summer. What RV park do you recommend. Only saw a few to stay at.

I'm not sure that I'd recommend any particular RV park in Valdez, but we stayed at "Valdez RV Park". It was a typical RV park for any coastal Alaska town........gravel parking lot....somewhat crowded. We chose this RV park because of it's location and it was the most affordable. Overall, it wasn't bad.

There are a quite a few for such a small town. (maybe 10+ in total?) The 2 that are not gravel dirt patches in the middle of the paved streets are glacier view and valdez KOA. Even though both are technically on the paved walking/bike path along the highway, they're kinda too far out to be walkable from town activities so you'll need a toad. The rv parks in town are very popular though because you're right there and can walk around town or go get whatever you need. I don't know how much this means, but a friend of mine who visits valdez every year with a 5th wheel for at least 15 years always goes to eagle's rest. I think you can pretty much get your pick and even move around if you want. For the past 5-7 years or so, they haven't been 100% jam packed as they were in the past. ..just a guess here, but i'm thinking allison point might be the cheapest because there's nothing other than proper bathrooms. They cut out the water supply a few years ago for whatever reason.
