- This was recorded off ABC-TV in Australia in the eighties - they had a "jazz weekend" with various ABC celebrities of the time introducing different shows. This concert is curious - no audience, although Duke presents the pieces as if there is. Thank you, Peter Dasent.

Wonderful.. Sad that so few people have seen this important piece of history
Has there ever been anyone greater in the world of jazz? Hardly.
The gorgeous Duke Ellington Je 't aime 'a la folie!!!!💖.
So happy you've put this up. I also saw it too on ABC TV and have been looking for it ever since. I remember thinking 'This Is The Coolest Guy In The World". One reason why CZcams is so fantastic. Thank you so much.

what incredible music
A friend shared this video and now I'm really touched with this beautiful version of Fleurette africaine. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy the rest of the video.
Thanks for sharing.
Extraordinary solo renditions of Duke's work as well as perhaps his best interview
Thank you so much for sharing this. I had actually recorded the music from that show onto a cassette tape which I lost years ago. I thought that I would never hear this again and didn't realise how much I still missed this particular recording until I saw the title and clicked on it in quiet anticipation.... It feels like a weight has been lifted or a missing piece of my life has returned. Is that strange?
I have to clarify, the VIDEO was made in the 80's, not the recording. It says, it was recorded OFF the television broadcast. The original broadcast is clearly in Paris. I don't know when it was FILMED, and I could not find any dates.
Great video!
Duke passed away in 1974

Thanks fora the video! There is any list of the themes played in it? Anyone knows the title of the theme starting at 21.05 ? Thanks a lot !
Of course, this is Strayhorn's "Lotus Blossom"!
