For the "Youth National Team" tip, I'd also add looking at abnormally young players already playing at the highest level of middling or weaker national teams. Last year, I was, for some reason, looking at the Syria national team and I found that their "key player" was a 16-year-old. Turned out he was a wonderkid, and snapped him right then. Finding abnormally young players also works for when you look at the Season Previews.
i also make a note(annually) so if i forget it in the long run, it pops up that a certain country's youth intake day is coming (-+ 1-2 days as the save goes on)

Look how long contract is. If it is 5 years it is imposible unless you play big club. Also if you have worse facilities than his current club. Try with guys that have 6-12 months left in contracts. Also tell in media that you are interested you will know before trying signing if he likes you. Or scout him well. Scout tells what player wants and your chances of signing.

I always set scouts for u18 (u19) leagues for each country selected in game. It gives you i formation sometimes for a player that is not going to be a great star but he scores a lot. Worth singing and selling later.
@@willrea9in game your u19 team plays in their league ( smoe has u18, some has u19) Each league can be scouted. For exaplme you have active germany, england, france, spain. In every country put one or 2 scouts. i set a scout to report u19 leagues so he gives raport of fixtures, tabeles, scorers, asists, ratings - from him you can chose some players to scout more. Those players often can develop in your u23 team and be good for middle table club or second division. You definetly can earn some money on them. And other scout who search for pure talent for dewelop for future to first team. Not for resell. Also if there is u18 tournamet you put scout for this event. Hope my english is enough to understand

I only scout - makes it more challenging and realistic. I can't image just searching every player in the world looking for the word wonderkid. Must be very unrewarding.

That's how I found a really good Malaysian in FM20. He was 18 and played in their Senior NT squad.

Exactly. I find it tedious. Relying on scouts does feel more realistic and rewarding. Each to their own though
