It would have been nice if at the end of the movie, a scene showed Kelly telling her reckless boyfriend that she couldn’t see him anymore. Then, it would’ve showed that she had matured and learned something. There are 2 kinds of discipline: constructive, lessons learned discipline, OR abusive, crippling discipline. Kelly would’ve thrived under constructive discipline that promotes confidence and self-esteem. I am a Mother that practiced “alternative discipline” because of the abusive way my father had treated us. Because of his treatment, I had absolutely no self-esteem. When I became a Mother, I read every book I could get my hands on that taught discipline without being abusive. We had some rough times, but I stuck to my guidelines, and it was all worth it in the end. Now, my adult children are college educated and have the confidence that I had always lacked. God’s Blessings to everyone out there❣️🙏😇

My son had to go to Juvi for a few days and a detention center two weeks, he came out a changed man were super close now. He came after me with a 🔪 while staying with my mom she allowed him to miss 21 days of school and play video games all day. I went to get bring his butt back home from grandmas and he became irate!

Before and after his death suppressing those painful memories, though still loving and idolising him, while taking out her bottled-up feelings of anger and resentment on her detached mother, who was locked into a state of learned helplessness.
Both mother and daugther were suffering from complex (betrayal) trauma; resulting from the domestic violence endured while the husband/father was alive, and would have benefited from therapy. Symptoms of CPTSD include difficulty in maintaining reationships, detatchment, trouble in regulating emotions, anxiety&depression, suppression of memories with momentary flashbacks, learned helplessness, feelings of shame & worthlessness; besides for physical symptoms related to being locked into a sympathetic dominant state. Scary to imagine that such horrible, vindictive case workers are actually part of the system.
Slowly it went, and painful to witness... Fortunately towards the end there was marked growth in both of them towards taking personal responsibility... Would you not agree the therapy helped them to deal with suppressed emotions, to re-connect, and work together as a team?
once she agreed to putting her in jail overnnight i knew it wasnt gonna be just 1 night. yes kids need to learn from their own mistakes but going from 1 night to up to 18m is insane i wouldnt ever let that happen to my children..

Teenagers are the parent nowadays. Conflict with my wife due to she is a helicopter and I’m the lawnmower parent. Mine is 22 and has depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and paranoia. I’m 61 and these behaviors practically were nonexistent back then. Am I missing something?🙁
