- Geraldine Fitzgerald is interviewed by Arlene Francis and sings Noel Coward's "Saturday Night at the Rose and Crown" from her one-woman show "Streetsongs," in this 1985 TV appearance.
Always adored Ms. Fitzgerald. She should have been a major star: beautiful speech; keenly intelligent actress; always quite humble; and a stunning beauty. Perhaps she is correct; she should have accepted more roles. Met her in the late 90s at a diner in Manhattan's east side; I had just seen Dark Victory the day before (for the 100th time). I recognized her voice before I recognized her. She was warm and gracious. A very fond memory. Thanks for posting.
Here, in 1985, Arlene Francis would have been either 79 or 80. Forever stunning,, the "Delightful Star"!
She was born in 07
@@hizgrase Ahhh....yes. then 78 or 79, I guess. I must have hit the wrong button. Oddly enough, my father was born in Sept. of '07.. I should have caught that.
Arlene still looking awesome at almost 80 years old. (78?)
She looks great! Natural beauty!
I remember seeing her play Isabella in "Wuthering Heights".
Arlene looks great, too.
Martha Bach ! Geraldine ! loved her.. And Arlene , the classiest of all .
Wow she was amazing,I would of paid to see her show, a true show biz star
Two lovely ladies
Two lovely ladies indeed! So nice to see the warm rapport between them!
@@savethetpc1547 I was just thinking the same thing! Such warmth and mutual admiration between them. Nice to see.
Two sophisticated women of the theater.
I remember her as Ann in Dark Victory who played as a great friend of Bette Davis
I remember her most from “ Arthur” with Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli.
I know her from "The Golden Girls"!
Yes, she got an Emmy nomination for the one in which she wants to commit suicide. Check out some of her classic work from the 30's and 40's--"Dark Victory" with Bette Davis, "Wuthering Heights" with Olivier and Oberon, "The Gay Sisters" with Stanwyck, "Nobody Lives Forever with Garfield, "The Pawnbroker" with Rod Steiger, and later ones like the two "Arthur" films with Liza and "Easy Money" with Rodney Dangerfield.
Oh, I'm glad she got an Emmy nom! :) I certainly will check out her other work.
She's also in one of the Poltergeist sequels. Wuthering Heights is my favorite of her films.
Arlene Francis had Alzhmiers around this time... she died as a result of it in 2001
Arlene had already been diagnosed with Alzheimers at this time and her husband died one year later. Yet, she's as lovely as ever and did great!
'Hats to frame one's face.' How lovely . Now we wear thongs and jeans to frame our butts. 🤪 Hats must have been fun. Anyway, a charming clip.
"PEANUTS!" -Arthur 😂
Loved her in wuthering Heights wished heathcliffe had chosen her when I watched the movie lovely lady enjoyed her in Arthur movie as well kind
I knew this lady sounded familiar. She was Sophia's friend who wanted to commit suicide in the golden girls lol
No but he did write `Private Lives` so I don`t think he`s be in complete accord with Markle`s slanging match with the Crown (forget the Rose)!
It's nice to see her in these later years, I have always enjoyed her work. Still, age really sucks. To see what time has done to her face is sad. Her voice however remains relatively unchanged.
Geraldine never had any cosmetic work done and aged naturally, which helped her later career as a character actress.
I think she looks good. 75 years old!
She always had that beautiful bone structure.
Wow getting old here
are you? pity you couldn't hold onto your youth as Geraldine Fitzgerald did.
@@Marcel_Audubon no I meant her
