  • NCMH was pleased to host this webinar which is the third of a series of new webinars on women's mental health, sponsored by the Section of Women's Mental Health of the European Psychiatric Association and organised by Mehlowa C.I.C, a charitable organization for CME in women's mental health.
    This webinar:
For this topic the Section of Women's Mental Health warmly welcomed Professor Ian Jones, Director of the National Centre for Mental Health in Wales, and his research team at Cardiff University. This team is conducting world-leading research into the genetic mechanisms and clinical characteristics of severe affective psychosis after childbirth. Their newest research findings will be presented in this webinar and what implications they have for clinical practice.
We are also very pleased that the charity Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP), a collaborative project run by women who have experienced postpartum psychosis, participated in the programme and will provide valuable and important insights into lived experiences.
The event was funded by an educational grant “Innovation for All” from Cardiff University awarded to Dr Marisa Casanova Dias.
    Aims of the webinar:
We hope that the webinar will further delegates' awareness and understanding of :
    - recent research supporting a category of affective psychosis that is only linked to childbirth
    - the consequences that the new findings have for classification systems and the management of women at risk of affective psychosis after childbirth
    - the challenging circumstances and severe risks that acute severe affective psychoses can present with after childbirth and how to successfully manage them
