She’s 17 , the first mistake was allowing her to leave in the first place . It should’ve been NO from when she came and asked , stop letting your emotions override your parenting , that’s your young daughter still regardless of how frustrating it is put your foot down and stand on it . Being a person who struggled mentally starting at a young age it really caused me to get depressed and weak not physically but mentally, just not wanting to do anything just stay in my room locked away. I get Mo's side and all but you can just see it in Brook that she's tired, hoping for peace for your family as well as keeping you guys in my prayers.

this was literally me and my mom last year before I moved out. i really hope Brooklyn and Mo work their relationship out. The biggest problem with mothers and daughters is miscommunication and hovering. i felt like my mom would not get off my ass about everything, it was annoying as fuck BUT now that I’m 20 and on my own, I’m realizing a lot of the problems we were having were because of me and my attitude and not wanting to help out! You can’t expect to be living a dream with Justin and completely ignore your responsibilities at home just because you feel annoyed.

Glad you put your foot down, my daughter moved out and came back and she does work but just is very lazy: so, since she didn’t want to wash the dishes, leaving dishes in the sink till they would pile up I took all my dishes out of the kitchen except for pots and pans and now she won’t even buy paper plates. She orders door dash and sticks all that in the garage, No, I tell her, take your own trash out don’t stick it in my trash and don’t eat in your room, that’s what I bought a table for. In the Caribbean we do things different when dealing with adults or young adults. Bathroom and bedroom dirty- don't clean it. she bathes and lives in it so when it is remains dirty she will clean it. Clothes left in the washing machine,-leave it. when she realizes that it is there for some days and it start to smell stink she wouldn't do it again. Not walking the dog and training it and the barking wakes up Bali- give her 2 weeks to improve, if not, give the dog away. Leaving food on counter- leave it there for how ever long she leaves it there until it is rotten. Wares in sink- don't wash it. give her until the end of the day to wash it.....if she goes to sleep in the night, wake her out of her sleep to go and wash it. On the other hand, I do not see Brooklyn as being rude, she is very outspoken and she was defending herself because she was feeling attacked. When you also said that you want her to do the stuff when you ask her to do it; that doesn't work for young adults. They will definitely do it but in their own time.

Being the parent you need to be able to put your foot down. Ahhh the reason why African Parents are sooo strict. Am 17 too but i always do my House chores no matter how i feel. They always stand on their foots just to make us s good person and my mom even tells me the reason she doing this and let me know more about life and how to be independent. She’s still a minor and you have to realize that one day no matter how much you get older that mom is eventually right at some point. Teenagers need to listen to their parents especially their letting you live there rent free. Being a person who struggled mentally starting at a young age it really caused me to get depressed and weak not physically but mentally, just not wanting to do anything just stay in my room locked away. What....did you think that the dog would not bark?? That's what dogs do and now that you have the baby you want to complain about the dog barking. Bathroom and bedroom dirty- don't clean it. she bathes and lives in it so when it is remains dirty she will clean it.
Clothes left in the washing machine,-leave it. when she realizes that it is there for some days and it start to smell stink she wouldn't do it again.
Not walking the dog and training it and the barking wakes up Bali- give her 2 weeks to improve, if not, give the dog away.

Brookyln is getting to that stage where she needs to realize who had who. She’s still a minor and you have to realize that one day no matter how much you get older that mom is eventually right at some point. Teenagers need to listen to their parents especially their letting you live there rent free. I’m 24 years old and had to look back at the decisions I made when I was that age and I had to say I wish I would’ve listened to my parents back then instead I wanted to learn things on my own because I felt like I wanted to be an adult so bad. You have to realize that the things your parents are trying to tell you now will help you later on in your life because with me I’m still going back and remembering certain things my parents had taught me and it’s helping me
