A pedestrianised request level crossing on the c2c line between Dagenham Dock and Rainham (East London).
Previously a normal road level crossing, it became pedestrianised after the construction of the high speed line (HS1) in 2006 which split the road. This level crossing is operated on request. Pedestrians must push the button on the 'push button unit' and wait for a signalman to raise the barriers if there is no train due to pass. The level crossing will lower after one minute. Halogen warning lights, two barriers and two alarms are used at this level crossing.
The crossing has since been permanently closed (June 2019).

Now this is what you call unique in every way, being a pedestrian crossing working in similar manor to a pedestrian crossing, now I HAVE seen it all. Such a shame it has been closed down since filming, you were lucky mate to get it just in time. Hats off to you mate, Well Done.😊👍🚂

Always such a shame to see such a unique little crossing in such an ominous and industrial atmosphere gone now. Nice to see the halogens once more in this video before they got upgraded to LEDs only around a month before it was gated off, and it just didn't look right with the LEDs! Great video as always, UKLCC!

‘Tis a crying shame that this crossing was removed. I do love those little gated pedestrian crossings like that-they have a unique charm and quirkiness that is unparalleled by anything else in the world, and it always makes me sad to see them go. Great catch as always, especially when one realizes such things are now a part of the past!

Thanks IRC 😎 It was very rarely used by any pedestrians so in a way, it was no longer needed
It apparently didn't lead anywhere due to the factory on the other side (where the vid starts) being shut down. It was also kinda faulty, sometimes entering full-on emergency shutdown halfway through raising. There's footage of it happening on a different channel. I'll try and find it but cant promise

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel thank goodness I went there in the beginning of 2019 before it's upgrade to LEDS and the closure, I didn't know this was closing or I would tried to come back at another time before.

Yeah, the crossing is no longer there and has been fenced off. It was closed because it was barely used, so wasn't really needed.
