- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he does not know if Donald Trump will support Ukraine if he is elected US president in November.
Mr Zelensky, speaking in Washington ahead of this week’s Nato summit, said he hoped Trump would not leave the 75-year-old Nato alliance and that America would continue to aid its defence against the bloody Russian invasion that has been raging for more than two years.
“I don’t know (him) very well,” Mr Zelensky said of his relationship with Trump , the presumptive republican nominee for presidency.
He added that he had “good meetings” with him during Trump’s first presidency, but added that it was before Russia’s invasion in 2022.
“I can’t tell you what he will do, if he will be the president of the United States. I don’t know.”
Trump has frequently criticised the extent of US military support for Ukraine - some $60 billion (£46.9 billion) since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 - and called Mr Zelensky “the greatest salesman ever.”

US is not giving Ukraine money, they are giving Ukraine weapons, weapons that are outdated or near expiration, which are costly to depose of in some cases it costs less to give them to Ukraine. A value is put on those weapons, a replacement value, that money is spent in the US, paid to defense industries to produce new weapons, which improves the economy in the states where those industries are located plus it creates jobs in the US.

The amount of incorrect statements in this comment section is staggering.
First of all, us aid is largely non-monetary, we are sending equipment, that is being replaced with upgraded versions at home, creating manufacturing jobs and strengthening the US.
Second point is that Russia is one of the major global threats to global peace and one of the reasons the US spends so much on defense, donating weapons for Ukraine to fight on, is a better deal for everyone than leaving ukraine to die and having to deal with it ourselves directly later as we had to in WW2.
Finally, a strong response to wars of aggression deters others hoping to start their own conflicts, not responding now might just encourage others to start conflicts since there are no consequences to doing so, and conflicts have a knock on effect of encouraging more conflicts while your adversaries have their hands full.
The amount of people supporting the criminal invasion and murder of Ukrainians in the comments it's not only worrisome but also very sad coming from people living under Democratic governments
America has sent over $30 billion in cash assistance. We've sent almost $200 billion assistance since the war began, and Ukraine is losing. It's a waste of money and human life to continue a war that Ukraine will lose. Biden even told Zelensky before the war that Ukraine will not join NATO because they are corrupt.
