WTF Paul happened with the lineout?
You were one of the best operators, yet it cost us the game potentially (i am sure we had some great moves planned off it)
Joe Schmitz? Perfected their breakdown as u should have perfected our lineout
After the first failed lineout and scrum,we should have simplified things immediately at the expense of any pre planned elaborate move.
This is outrageous,NZ are a decent team, but Ireland (if they corrected the lineout and scrum)are a sensational team.

I got a sense of forced belief from the Irish fans, and it didn’t help. It’s healthy to know that even if you’re #1 it’s tiny margins as the big man says in this video, it comes down to luck etc. On balance statistically even when you’re the best team in the world coming into a World Cup you’re still more likely to get knocked out than to win it.

@@MMM-28-28as a South African, what you say is spot on. Our media has the same issue with our cricket team in world cups. 4x semi finals an no finals. Media labels them like crazy. @tristanmckenzie1623 Před 9 měsíci +1

Spot on. Ireland didn't do a lot wrong to be fair. The start could have rattled Ireland. At 13-0, New Zealand often run away with it against most teams. But this Irish side has so much belief and came back. Just a couple of critical turning points in the match that was the difference I feel, the held up over the line by Jordy Barret which was courageous with 9 minutes to go then the drop out, next thing Doris knocks it forward, Jonny missed a penalty which he would rarely miss. Fine margins are so crucial to the outcome as against New Zealand we all know they need to be taken, and NZ took all the chances they got. It's a cruel tournament, the World Cup. It took us 24 years after 87 to finally win it. I feel the quarter final is a bit of a gorilla on there back but given what happened to NZ in NZ last year, they were prob the opponent Ireland could had done without at least till the Final. We could have done them a favour by beating France, and that could have been avoided. I do feel for the Emerald Green. I didn't want them knocked out this early. Unfortunately, they had to play us..

Why am I not sentimental about any of this really? I dearly wanted Ireland to get over the line last night. I'm Irish. Watched rugby since the 70s. A great heaving game last night. No shame. Beaten by a ravenous and skilled New Zealand. Sexton didn't make it. Neither did O'Gara before him or O'Driscoll. So be it. That's life and he'll recover and enjoy the rest of his life.
It's time. Ireland needed to move on. Younger players have to be given the new opportunities to experience these events. We can't be a retirement send-off side each WC. The team needs new blood so that we have options that suit the gameplan.
Sexton was a great player but never the speediest and never the best kicker. Last night, he had opportunities to dart forward himself into openings but couldn't. Younger, ambitious feet are needed to complete this relatively young team. I'd smile today. It's a good new beginning for Ireland.

I believe that we need to be a little bit hard with ourselves, Ireland play a great game in attack and almost always in defence, but if you compare with their regular performance, there were some mistake that doesn´t happen frequently:
    - 4 or 5 lineout missed, just like in SA game, didnt improve in that area
    - 1° phase try, JDF doesn´t miss tackle, like that tackle against Richie Mounga
    - Penalty kick almost in front of the post
    - CD knock on in the half of the field.
Also Cane and Savea improve their performance in the right moment. . . . that´s what big teams do in this stages, we didn´t, still proud of the team because Irish rugby has improve a lot in the last 20 years, except in the world cups :(

The World Cup is extremely difficult to win because EVERY team lifts when playing for it. Ireland you have started to learn what New Zealanders learnt 4 maybe 5 World Cups ago, being #1 in the World means nothing at a world cup, it is a difficult thing to win and maybe now you understand how proud kiwi's are of winning it 3 times. Your time will come Ireland, but sometimes you have to loose a few to appreciate the victory.

I think to say "To give away some soft scores" is to do the ABs and Ireland a disservice. ABs are masters of making something of almost nothing. Ireland were immense and very few teams even on their best days would not succumb to the Irish composure and phase building. Unfortunately for Ireland, it was the ABs and they showed up with a point or two to prove. ABs earned the win but Ireland can certainly feel hard done by to not get past a quarter final overall, I think they have been and are good enough to be in the top 4.

      @antonellaluque4532 more excuses! beautiful Antonella
Choking is a dumb concept, its not even an accurate word to use.
Their lineout malfunctioned as did their scrum (at least in the ref's eyes)and they defended poorly at times (coughing up an easy try)
No one will beat NZ losing those three things above (even our win against SA could be put down to SA 'choking' on their kick penalties)
Did u see the lineouts of France v SA ?(they all won theirs-----you don't need to 'choke' in order to have your lineout functioning poorly-----Paul O Connell unfortunately takes some blame).
Now,my point to you a month ago was for Ireland to treat the QF as their only! concern (not to worry about SA in the pool stages or France in a QF)
Ireland needed to approach their QF with freshness and passion verging on revenge or anger
(Instead they got super up for the SA and Scotland game, and by the time the All Blacks rolled around,Ireland looked faded or ghostly white (Sextons face during the Haka made me believe Ireland would lose-----he,and the team, needed to be in the same state that ROG and HAYES were in before the 2007 game against England in Ctoke Park 2007).
So instead of this 'choking' concept we need to accept that our lineout and scrum and defence had some major issues which O Connell and Farrell failed to rectify.
Also,Farrell playing our A Side every game surely led to tiredness being a factor.
And,I believe psychologically they approached that match in the wrong mindset (Andy was too Zen-----he needed to put that team on a War or Seige mentality just as the NZ team did themselves).
Are you on Instagram or Facebook or Tiktok? (You are as pretty as hell)
      Are you half Italian?
What part of Ireland are you living in.
At the very least I want a hug or a kiss on the cheek if we ever met,ok?

The issue with your cut out pass league routes is that you're working one too many players for minimal gain. Don't get me wrong, the benefits can be great and deadly in union but after awhile it becomes very predictable. When you become a single dimension type rugby team you will struggle to close out tight games. You watch the last 30 odd phases in that game, why wouldn't you just keep your forward pack tight and tank forward? That there purely showed what was lacking. I see BOD is sticking the knife into Johnny already.
Irish media and people did get very cocky with people like Kearney and Heaslip planning the open top parade. WC is a different level and the cream rise to the top. Plucky by Ireland but not good enough on biggest stage

You all see Ireland has won nothing yet!
again quarter-final curse hit Ireland again!!!!
    No World Cup
Now the greatest team Ireland ever had
could not break quarter-final curse again!!!!
Now can try to reach the next World Cup quarter-final?

We gave up soft scores… that’s weak.
Irish first 3 points on the restart from a marginal call. Soft.
Bundee dancing through 5 defenders. Soft
Gibson park scoring in Aaron smiths channel after his super soft yellow card.
The ABs won the game on their effort. Give some credit.
Maybe the coaches should be more accountable for keeping a very slow and labored Sexton out there in the last 20. They missed some fresh legs at playmaker and the ABs were smoking the receiver on the pass out the back cause they didn’t care if Jonny took on the line (cause he couldn’t).

He’s now feeling comfort because the quarter finals are the furthest he’s been to as well😂🤣 Ireland can’t win a RWC game outside of the pool stages. Well done All Blacks and well done Argentina👍🏻👍🏻

I think there is a lack of depth for that level ....8 defeats is not an accident ....the six nations will tell us a bit....as for 4 years time ....who knows?
