"After The Rain" A Halo ODST Mega Construx Stop Motion Film

- The Planet Reach is under attack by the Covenant. The strategic battle for the city of Skyre has been lost. A device called "The Enigma", Which contains vital information, was lost in this battle. If the Covenant find the Enigma, Humanity will be at a greater disadvantage. Nine hours after the loss of the battle, A lone ODST Named "Bridger" emerges from his drop pod after being unconscious from drop. Now Bridger must navigate the remains of the city, fighting through hordes of Covenant patrols, while trying to find the Enigma, and a way out of the city.

This film was animated at 24 FPS, and took around 11 months ( Due mainly to procrastination and school/work/chores). Also, 24 FPS is the highest I have ever animated, so it was a new experience for me. I plan to do a Behind-the-Scenes video in the future, so stay tuned!

Woah! This blew me away. You did a fantastic job. Although some people may find the movements of the characters too slow I found it enjoyable to watch, it’s obvious how much effort you put into the more subtle movements of the characters and I can appreciate just how difficult it is. On top of that I quite liked the set design and dialogue. Great work! Can’t wait to see what else you have in store :)

It's understandable of why there isn't much mega bloks stop motions and it's because you have to take wayyyyy more photos. So just seeing stop motions for the franchise is always so awesome.
Excellent work man! The animation was really well done. The story itself is an interesting concept which really tied together the whole story. The sets are what really impressed me (especially the pan up shot to the tower) they felt really believable to be new Mombasa and were detailed. The sound design was also well done. The vfx in particular were well done. Overal this might be one of your best works yet! Keep it up man

Edit the old 2016 odst two figure pack was the first mega bloks set I ever got, nice to know people still have the figures and parts from the set. If You could check out my stop motion channel it would be an amazing thing

Man I am sad I didn’t find this earlier, it is amazing! My favorite halo game has always been odst, and this delivers on what I love about that, but in a video form! I love the action, music choice, and dialogue! Great video and keep up the amazing work!

Love it a lot. The story fells good, bullets shots aren’t just a BIG patch of clay, and the walk was smooth. I would say for most of the parts do need some speeding up, that’s all.

That was SUCH a banger of a story man. Felt very nostalgic of ODST. Some of the movements were a LITTLE too slow. Ok, maybe a lot, but at least nothing looked too incredibly choppy. What's important is the story was entertaining. The VFX was also pretty good as well. I think you could pull off some AMAZING films if you sharpened your animating skills a little bit more. You definitely have the drive for greatness, so keep it up 👍

Amazing animation my dude! Story was solid, and the visual/practical effects were spot on. Only thing that I suggest to be improved on is higherint the fps. A lot of the movements felt a bit sluggish but I noticed there were many small movements. If you highered the fps it would compliment all the frames you put in very well, as well as making everything look better as a whole. Great work my friend!

Superb film! I feel like 24 fps is a bit much and make some movements feel very shaky but it’s well animated none the less, the atmosphere is well set, the lighting wasn’t always the best for the mood but most of it was very nice, overall it’s a very well produced stopmotion, good job!

@@OddityStudios a little tip for atmospheric lighting would be to use the neon colored lights like blue, red, purple (if you have leds that is) another trick would be to mess around with the white balance a bit if you have yellow lights, if you have white as an option then take it and try to figure out different ways to place the lights so it can be dark but in a way we can still see clearly and having a completely black backdrop can also help or if the wall/backdrop has no light pointing in its direction then depending on your camera settings it can be black
That’s personally how I’ve done it in the past and it always make the lighting feel more alive. Also speaking of fps I personally use 15 and I can’t recommend it enough it’s the perfect balance between not enough frames to be smooth and so many frames it can either be smooth or jittery

Very good! Personally I usually stick to 15 fps, but 24 actually looks pretty good (though it does seem like a whole heck of a lot more work)
The only real issue I have with this animation (and trust me it’s pretty subjective) is the abundance of special effects. I usually prefer practical ones, since sometimes special effects kinda mess with the immersion (at least for MCX films).
Another thing that I just thought of, but a lot of the movements feel really slow, especially when a character is falling, I’d recommend to cut out a few of the frames for faster movements or action scenes, as having them be as slow as they are in the film kind of messes with intensity and actual flow of the action. (Again this is somewhat subjective).
