I was so happy with your “take” on whether we can use mock ups for personalized items because that was exactly what I thought when I read the Etsy info myself but many other people did not interpret this the way I did. Thanks for the confirmation!
Thanks, Cassiy for the update. I would like to ask if we need to buy every personalized product to make video or image for selling purposes. If not required, then would be a great relief for a new seller like me who has budget restrictions and cannot buy each and every personalized product for review.
Thank you for your explanation. I do have a question. I am a writer and sell around this niche. Sometime I hire artist or illustrators to create a design. How is this listed?
Thank you, you’re such an invaluable resource for all things Etsy and POD! Every time a new update hits, I immediately run to your channel because you have a great way of both simplifying and clarifying all these changes, and you somehow manage to do it without your hair on fire.😂 I don’t know how often you check the comments and I realize this is off topic but I’m really stuck, so I’ll give it a shot. I watched an older video of yours about shipping strategies (free vs $35+ vs paid) and was wondering what your advice/strategy might be for a shop that uses different print providers for different items, when it comes to shipping? Of course we’re all trying to encourage customers to buy multiple items, while maintaining a healthy profit margin, but if they happen to choose a t-shirt, a journal, and a mug, all from different providers, won’t they scoff at (around) $15 in shipping? And, do you recommend putting something in your shop or item descriptions about multiple item orders potentially coming at different times, etc.?
I love love love your videos. You are a life saver. You mentioned that Ctrl + Alt + R does not work in the tags, but Atl + 0174 DOES work in tags. To add the registered trademark sign in tags just hold the Alt key down while hitting 0174 and voila when you release all the keys the registered trademark sign appears.
Thank you! This is so helpful! I have not even published my new listings yet in Etsy but Printify suddenly said Printify Choice and I could not figure out how to turn it off.
Thank you so so much for all this info, Cassiy!! This is soo helpful, I've been thinking about the little R for some time now and you confirmed it, and the Tradesnark sounds great to have, as this part is one of the most stressful 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the survey link. For me personally, I would only consider Printify choice if I was able to select which printer providers I would like my orders to be routed through. There are a few print providers that I would like to ‘deselect’ as their print quality isn’t as high as others.
How on earth would they know whether you used an original prompt LOL? Ten different people could use the same prompt and the images are always varied. Thanks for the update, Cassiy!
Thank you so much for this, it helps clear up so much! So, my biggest thing holding me back from listing right now is the fact that I have to pay for my customers' orders before Etsy pays me- should I be worried about this? I am literally starting with an extremely low budget, like, I don't even have extra money for this, nor can I apply for a credit card due to a low credit score at the moment lol. (I'm working on it 🙃) How long does it take before Etsy pays me for an order and that money can just automatically go straight to Printify, or is it always like that?
So I would say to wait a little bit because for your first 90 days selling on Etsy, they put you on something called payment reserves where they keep a portion of each payment until the item ships. So you will need to front the cost of items for a few days to a week before you get paid back from Etsy. You also can only get deposits from Etsy once a week in the beginning. I’d say having like $100 - $200 saved up would be a good goal to make sure you don’t accidentally get in a position that’s uncomfortable. After that 90 days though, you should be able to get paid the very next day from Etsy! So maybe just take it really slow and learn a lot the first few months and make a few listings just to get the ball rolling a bit, and then after that take it more seriously!
I’m not happy with Printify at this moment, I finally got a sale after a month of my last one and guess what? They canceled the order due to out of stock issues and we aren’t even in the Q-4 yet. So I had to refund the money and now I don’t even know if that new costumer will give me a bad review 😢, due they (Printify) delate old design in your store? I can’t even see that product in my Printify store? It’s a Christmas sweater I made last October that magically was getting a lot of views and one sale (cancelled) this month. I thought oh wow I finally will have a “Bestseller” 😊and this happened.
They don’t delete designs from Printify. Go to that Etsy listing and copy the sku number in the variations and then search for that number in Printfy and you should be able to find it! As for the stock issue, sorry this happened but they do their best to keep stuff in stock. In the future I would always offer the customer a different size/color before just cancelling the order. And they can’t leave a review after you cancel an order so don’t worry about that!
Cassiy, I’ve beein doing the exact same as you said about personalized mock up, just slap a name already instead of “your name”. I started POD this month using your printify premium code! I wanted to ask you something, I had good sales on one listing about 29 items in 2 weeks and this week got 5 wonderful reviews but since the reviews hit that listing isn’t getting anymore views, carts nor sales. I thought reviews were going to push it I feel a bit lost. Other people selling the nice are still doing great so the demand is still there lol. Would you consider doing a video about what new stores can expect in terms of how inconsistent the traffic is?
Thanks so much for the info, Cassiy! Just some clarification, so by "stock" photos, does this mean the only mockups we're allowed to use are the awful Printify mockups (or whatever provider we use)?
I missed the email that told me I was getting upgraded to Printify Choice, and one order got automatically re-routed before I caught it. I have a good idea of which provider I want to use for different products, and even colors, so I went in and turned it off. I certainly hope that choice remains a choice. The AI quality control -- they must have been releasing that for some before others... I've had that in my account for awhile now, maybe 3 months or so? It's not all orders. Maybe about 8% get it. But it's nice to see.
Love your channel Cassiy! Just subscribed. I am about to begin my Print on Demand journey. I understand we can't use a design from Creative Fabrica etc., "as is" for POD items to sell on Etsy, but can we use graphics "as is" if we sell on Etsy and are making the items ourselves and shipping to the customers?
There are different rules for selling other people’s art as a digital download for others, I don’t believe you can use other people’s graphics in your designs to resell but you can check the license for the artwork you are using to be sure!
One issue I am concerned about for Printify Choice is Etsy requires us to enter the ship from location, which would then not match if Printify changes the provider. What are your thoughts Cassiy?
Super valid concern but unfortunately many of the print providers actually have multiple locations like Swiftpod might ship from I think Florida or Texas if you use them, so this is an issue almost no matter what. I know Etsy wants you to be clear about where it ships from but there isn’t much we can do about it
I really appreciate your helpful videos, Cassiy. I have another question. When I see my design on printify mock ups, it shows the design almost fillilg a whole t shirt. Is it better to have a design spaced around he chest area and not too far down. Since watching this video, I have decided to re size all my designs so they are smaller and focused on the chest area. I have also purchased mock ups from moonlit mockups and lemonsmith. I need your expert advice, here, please. Most of the designs on Etsy mockups are smaller and focus on the chest area. Is this the right way to add a design, even for my Shopify store. I plan to open an Etsy shop sometime late this fall when my Shopify store has been opened a few months. I would really appreciate all the help you can give me. One last thing: do you still offer your course on setting up an Etsy store? Thanks Reply
Hi Cassiy, can you advise. If using pod, I've seen mixed suggestions by various sources. In Etsy should we now check made by you or made by someone else? any clarification on this would be appreciated.
I’ve always heard “made by someone else” but recently have heard people saying the opposite now. Either way you do it, as long as you select the production partner, it shows tagged as “designed by you” at the top of the description. So I can’t imagine it making a big difference one way or the other but feel free to try to get confirmation from Etsy if it’s making you nervous!
Hello I just opened a printify shop and have it connected to my Etsy shop I only put 4 shirts in just to test the waters. My question is how will I know if I have a sale ? Will Etsy let me know or will printify thanks .
Yeah, that printify choice is annoying af! Gotta click the link below to view all your other options. Make sure to keep an eye on it because it will catch you out if you're not vigilant.
Please help. So, I see most people print at least 300 dpi on their shirts. But what happens if I increase the size of my design when I download it, and the dpi is 900+? Will the print be extremely detailed. What's the printers max? What's the max dpi should be? I can't seem to find answers to this at all. Can I print at 400, 500, or 600 dpi for a sharper image?
Thank you for the update! Have a question about the AI artwork. Should it be stated in the description: created by AI or created with AI assistance? Thanks!
I have a quick question that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I sell my own handmade items and some POD items. I understand the requirements for custom/personalized items with not having your first image with placeholder text. Then the other images you have can have mockups but what about the handmade items that I offer that are not personalized just designs that I have created and are offering them on tshirts etc. Can the first image be a mockup image since it is an image of the final product with no customization being done? So sorry for the long message. Just wanting to make sure I'm on the correct path.
Yes on the right of the printify listing, you will see a button that you can click a replace your listing with another provider! I wouldn’t go through the trouble to change tons if you already have a bunch, you could just change the ones that sell and make new ones with specific providers instead. If you just have a few listings though then it will be pretty quick! When you republish them though, just make sure to not select mockups for them to replace in the Etsy listing or else you will have to upload yours again!
Hey Cassiy, really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?
As far as I know you can even just make an AI image as sell it as is as a digital download! They don't say anything against that, just that you need to say in the description that it was made by AI and you have to come up with the prompt yourself
I was so happy with your “take” on whether we can use mock ups for personalized items because that was exactly what I thought when I read the Etsy info myself but many other people did not interpret this the way I did. Thanks for the confirmation!
Yea I just don’t see why in that one instance it would have been any different! Thanks for watching ❤️
I've been designing shirts on multiple platforms for about a year now, and have made a total of 4 dollars.
Omg Monster Digital NEEDS that AI quality control feature. They did me so dirty last Q4 with misprints, bad prints, and wrong sizes. Fingers crossed
Hopefully soon they will roll it out to all of the providers!

Hello Custom is $67 again. I missed the last time you sent out a notice, but not this time. I saw it on Facebook late Wednesday night.
