There were a number of offers for notably more money on the table for him to stay over the last year. He bet on himself, had a pretty rough 3/4's of the season and played himself out of being a top signing priority for them when Free Agency hit. But, they were direct with him about it. It wasn't about the money, it was timing. They were honest with him and just had other things they were trying to do first at the start of Free Agency. Took a swing at George and that didn't end up happening. Had some holes in the lineup to address and they would have got to him if he still wanted to stay. But I can understand after being there for so long and accomplishing so much, being told you aren't the priority probably didn't feel great. Understand both sides, but it definitely was never them not wanting him or not willing to pay him.
He will Regret leaving the Warriors. His life was set after basketball in the Bay. Klay should have help out the young players and be a spokesperson for the Dubs. Klay was in a perfect situation with Dubs and Bay Area. Fans

Depends on what is the priority for Klay. What does he want.
He could stay with GSW for less pay and come off the bench. He gets to stay where he is with his friends until the end. God knows he's got hundreds of millions and no wife and no kids to take care of. He just has to be humble and accept his time as a star is over.
Or he could leave for millions more with a bigger spotlight but leave everything behind. Possibly ruin his legacy if he is less than spectacular in his new team. Which is a real chance given his many injuries.
as a mavs fan i still dont see the fit in klay in the mavs. i feel like klau would excel more around jokic than luka.
I’m a Warrior fan and I agree with you 100%. He’s going to go extensive minutes without even touching the ball at times so it’s going to be interesting to see what changes Kidd makes to the offense to keep him and everyone else happy
@@1Road2Successfacts mavs don’t move the ball like warriors did. He will find himself in a corner waiting for the ball and it never comes. This is going to end up with Klay hitting the bench. His defense is trash too! His first step is so slow now!

@cvgodd1432 His defense...what about the team D of the Warriors period...? A lotta people talk basketball without the IQ... just whatever the TV shows say, you guys repeat. If you actually knew basketball, you would have some idea as to how the Mavs will incorporate Klay. He will also have better defenders around him, with real rim protection.

He’ll most likely be posted up in the corner waiting for Luka or Kyrie to find him on kick outs … but Klay has always seen himself as more than that. They might incorporate some type of movement within their offense to get him looks but that is what we’ll have to wait for to see
