  • Here's a demo of various voices and gain settings on the Quilter MicroPro Mach 2. Borrowed this amp from a good friend just to test how good it sounds and I have to say, it would be hard to distinguish from a tube amp.
    Used my Washburn N4ESA straight into the Mach 2. Amazing amp by Quilter.

    I'm here in 2021 and this is one of the best (for me) demos of this amp. Thanks!

    I am definitely getting one of these. The tone is incredible. And not having to worry about tubes going in the middle of a gig is worth the price by itself.

      Played tube amps for 50 years. Never had one die mid gig. That includes a drunken girl knocking my twin over on it's face, breaking the cable off in the reverb channel. Over hyped stories.

    I have one and it is outstanding. I got tired of the high maintenance tube amps, and the weight. This is better by far in every way. Love it

      art gillespie yes, tube maintenance is a big issue I tackled around the time I tested this amp. I still have a Toneblock 200 which I use for church numbers.

      @@profd65 Have you used one in person? I doubt it. Its a great amp and if it works for people, why do you care?

    I bought the 8" version and love it. I later bought the Quilter 12" extension speaker and used it at a louder than usual gig. Usually the mic'd 8" is plenty for most rock & rock club gigs.

    can you get to the various sounds through a foot switch? for live play without having to tweak two many knobs

    • @roydy924
      @roydy924  Před 9 lety

      Hi. Check this link out:
      www.quilterlabs.com/index.php/products/accessories-in-depth/Universal-6-Position-foot-controller
      You can set your boost manually and turn it on or off but you can't control voice selection.
      Wish I could give you more information but the amp I demoed didn't have the foot controller with it. Sorry. Hope this helps though.

  • @JohnFichtner
    @JohnFichtner Před 7 lety +1

    All the demos I see have people turning knobs. What about the footswitch? Can you get from clean to dirty and then to boosted solo all from the footswitch?

    • @rovstr
      @rovstr Před 6 lety +1

      John Fichtner take a look at the owners manual online. If you have the 6 switch pedal then it could be done by switching between channel 1 and 2. keep 2 clean. channel 1 will use a higher gain. from a boosted channel 1 you would need one tap to turn boost off and another to switch to channel 2 which would be dialed in for clean. can be done with a two switch selector pedal as well with one set to channel select and the other to boost.

    Is this the 8 or 10 version Royd? kind of sounds if the back is close so I'm going with an 8??

    • @roydy924
      @roydy924  Před 9 lety +1

      Hi. No, this is the 12" model and it is a closed back type amp. I haven't tried the 8" or 10" versions though. Hope this helps you decide. 👍

    • @HoosierLine
      @HoosierLine Před 9 lety +1

      Royd Andalis I'm impressed.....thought the smaller amp was closed back due the speaker size. This amp kind of replicates that 4X12 speaker sound configuration due to the cabinet being closed back. Helps to get that cabinet low frequency honk. Nice!

      @kennethcohagen9037 Před 7 lety

      What speaker are you running in this cabinet? Von Skow from WGS recommends a G10 in the 10" model.

    • @roydy924
      @roydy924  Před 7 lety

      +Kenneth Cohagen this is a 12-inch model. You can go with any speaker you're used to.

    Got one this week. Fuck tube amps lol. JK tube amps still have a place in the studio but I'm done hauling them around, this thing gets 95% of the way there and sounds even better with a couple drive pedals stacked.

  • @grimoire7851

    sounds maybe better then roland better reverb to this toylike look ...

    • @roydy924
      @roydy924  Před 7 lety

      Yes, it does sound a lot better, warmer, more tube-like than a Roland amp. About the look, I would prefer the amp head on top of a 4x12 myself but a lot of Quilter owners purchase Quilter for the portability aside from the sound. You can go for their amp heads paired with a 2x12 or a 4x12 if you prefer though.

    It's a pity that the styling of the MicroPro is rather ugly (unlike the Aviator Gold models).

    Never heard one of these amps demo a true rock lead single-note solo. It's always a chord banging demonstration. The demos avoid any real hard rock lead playing because this amp doesn't seem to have a good high gain, high sustain lead guitar tone. and you never hear what it sounds like with overdrive pedals. A deal-breaker for me.
