I sold my old feiyu handheld gimbal when I got the ronin, but back to really wanting one for the odd b-roll shot when on travel/camping trips. Almost bought that Crane 2 this week but it’s just not quiiiiite portable enough so this is a perfectly timed review! Cheers man!!
Great review Levi, definitely a sweet day trip rig for the portability factor for wanting to pack a small gimbal. Love the mass variety of heaver lenses you can use on the Crane 2 as well, definitely a huge fan of their lineup.
that dual handle idea is genius! I get much smoother circling moves with my dual handle but it makes it a little too wide to get through crowds and the monitor doesnt fit as nice. This will be great for me, thanks!
Wow, we were literally discussing this hand held today when you popped up on our ‘scribe feed! Would this work for a consumer level camcorder? Seems all these hand helds are for DSLR’s and mirrorless, which means manufacturers are missing out a potential market.
Very interesting, I am new to filming. Just started with a couple of GoPro cameras. Going to upgrade my SLR to a video system next. Your videos are really inspirational to me. Found you on the "Pure Living for Life" CZcams and have watched everything you have out there since, except "Untethered" haven't found that anywhere yet. Love it keep posting.
So I’m watching this a little late lol. But I had no idea they had this gimbal. Being that I want to buy my first one, you definitely convinced me to pull the trigger on this one. I can practice and once I get the hang of it I can upgrade in the long run. Thank you for this review !
Thank you so helpful I'm getting one soon I have a silly question about carrying it is it okey to put it in a bag like that or do I have take the case with me especially for trips won't be damage ?
Love this breakdown. We use the Zhiyun crane-M and the Ronin M when it comes to client work and have found the same thing. It’s portability and light weight makes the Z-crane great for travel and long shoot days but the stability and movement you can get with the Ronin because of its weight also makes a big difference. Curious to look into the difference between the z-crane m and the z-crane plus.
Hey, great review! I have a GX80 with a 25mm 1.7 lens and am contemplating either this or the Weebil S. What are the main differences between the two? I think portability and less weight is important but I do want to be able to get good movement and stability for client shoots.. Would the Crane Plus suffice?
thank you so much for doing this with a gh5 , i've watched a bunch of reviews but i couldn't find a proper video with the gh5 on the gimbal (in english or german) ... i'm filming with the gh5 over a year and i'm not sure wich one i should buy the crane2 or the crane plus.. i'm filming for fun and vacation-stuff .. probably the crane plus is easier to handle right? they both can do the same functions right?
Question: Were you using any other form of stabilization, such as lens IS or GH5's IBIS? Beautiful shots of Vancouver! I am long overdue for a northward trip...
Left Coast Levi, I need some help bro. ...im not sure the crane plus is supported by the ZY Play app any longer? trying to get it up and running for a follow feature but no luck. any insight would be apricated.
Great video as always man! Personally I think that if I had to pick one up I'd rather get the crane 2 still... or the ronin s whenever that comes out :D The small size and the features for the price is still intriguing thought
If you don't need the extra weight capacity, is the Crane V2 essentially the same as the plus? Are the nightlapse and tracking features crane plus exclusive?
I have this same gimbal and use it with the sony a7iii and 16-35mm f4 lens. I want to get a monopod to use with the Gimbal but don't want to spend $320 on a monopod. I don't know if it's smart to get the $15 amazon basics one as it may not hold the gimbal or break. any recommendations?
Hi thanks for the nice review. I would like to buy it for a GoPro. Can I mount a GoPro on the crane plus ? I prefer invest in a robust gimbal for future rather than a first small one
Hi, do you still use it? I have some questions about it maybe somebody can answer me. 1. Seems like I set the smoothness and effectiveness of the motors by the app and then it doesn't remember. Should I always be connected when I want it to work as I set it in the app? 2 I was using and sometimes it did some random movements like it was in a delay rotating and then suddenly catch up itself. Weird. Maybe too much payload? A7rII + zeiss 35 1.4. Quite annoying anyway. Is the crane 2 more reliable or I just set it up wrong? I really appreciate any answer.
Wish your videos would show up in my damn homepage feed...I had to dig to find this video. Anyway, great shots, great review. Would like hear your thoughts on the Ronin-S once you get your hands on one.
ive heard the zhiyun crane plus is more shaky when filming at high speed or at high winds than the zhiyun crane 2. have you experienced that as well or not? I plan bringing the zhiyun crane plus (or 2) to go skiing with at high speed or using it when biking or at coastline etc. When I asked in the shop they said the crane plus should be fine but still I dont trust them too much :D
I am primarily a still photographer and have grown accustomed to Canon DSLR but I am interested in getting into doing some fun videos of my daughters ballet dancing. I am interested in Sony A6000 mirrorless but I don’t know which firs.t lens is best for multipurpose video. What would be the most versatile lens for this body?
I LOVE this gimbal for my a7III. But... changing modes is a massive pain in the ass. Zhiyun uses a click through system: pan following > locked > POV+roll > double click: POV > locked > POV+roll > locked > then you are finally back at pan following. It’s also different every time you use it. It is random whether or not it will directly send you into pan following mode after POV mode. It’s seriously sooo aggravating. And of course just to piss people off they made the default POV mode roll following so when you are cycling threw the modes it super easy to throw off your horizon. And there is no way to avoid the shitty POV+roll mode, it always forces you into it during the process of switching to the normal POV mode. Now I need to buy or borrow another cellphone which will be always connected to the gimbal then mount it to the dual handles just to switch modes. Zhiyun - buy a cellphone just to switch between our damn modes On my old $170 gimbal it had designated key presses to switch modes, so single press for pan following, double press for POV mode, and hold for locked mode, that works astronomically better.
What's up! Hey! Thank you it's really interesting, great video! You convinced me I was thinking of getting one but the only thing that makes me wonder is the compatibility with my Huawei P20 pro but, I'll still buy it because even without the cellphone part i'll get a lot out of it for a first gimbal!!😁 Great video (Peter Mckinnon feels with the guitar and all!😂)
Set focus ahead of time, or just change focus with my hand right as I’m framing the shot. All of this video was shot manual focus actually, except for some shots of me. Or sometimes I just mess up the focus completely like the skateboard shot at the beginning/end - so I just made them title shots instead haha
Thank you for the video. If I may be critical, as a videographer who is investigating his options, a review would be much more insightful if you didn't apply warp stabilizer to ANY of the footage so one can really assess how this thing performs (in new/experienced hands). Thanks!
Hey Levi, I bought Crane Plus right after they came out and have yet to use it. I brought it out last night and set it up and tried to do the firmware and software upgrade and found there is no firmware available and the software wouldn't load. I also tried to get the app but was unsuccessful but after I write this I'm going to try again. Do you think I've missed my chance on everything, that the device has run its course because I didn't see it listed any longer. Your thoughts on the matter would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you!
Debating whether I should eventually buy a gimbal like this to replace my glidecam. Is there any stress when you adjust the focal length with the 12-35mm?
yes there will always be stress when throwing any gimbal out of balance, but it can manage zooming in the lens do problem. Motors are just working harder so you might get an extra jitter here or there if you aren't operating smoothly
I'm using the Zhiyun Crane 2 since a few days, excellent product, but found already some flaws which I don't really like: 1. I'm connecting with the little USB cable my Canon 77D to the zhiyun... problem? The flip screen is then VERY limited to its flipping use because hitting the cable just behind, screen blocked, can't be flipped up nor down anymore... kind of.... bad point. 2. Also, speaking flip screen: the Zhiyun must be balanced with your cam, the way you use it! If the flipscreen of your cam stands out, you'll need to re-balance the zhiyun for best performance, as as little weight it seems to be, it is weight which plays with the gravity, so unbalances the position... So, always balance the zhiyn the way you'd shoot (cable? flip screen opened? etc.... 3. Using a battery back on my cam, so now I can't switch the zhiyuns position anymore to top down, as the arms are colliding, due to the igher cam position... 4. there's non, that's all... just 3! :-)a But anyway, can't shoot w/o anymore, what a beast! :-) Wondering nobody talked about my 3 bad points above, and reviews I've seen some, those points weren't covered.
I will be announcing T-shirt winners tomorrow! Thanks for your patience
Leftcoast curious are you on Instagram / Twitter? Wanted to post this awesome shirt & mention you...
Did not know how much i miss the Chief until seeing it in this video... thanks for bringing a smile my way. Great days to you brother !

Yep! Crane plus is my fav for travel too! Great video Levi
Seriously love watching your videos. You're just a real and down to earth creative guy giving out some amazing knowledge and your work is fantastic.
I'm sold! I travel quite a bit so definitely getting this as my first gimbal. Also, loved the footage you got at Stanley & Gastown!
Great review Levi, definitely a sweet day trip rig for the portability factor for wanting to pack a small gimbal. Love the mass variety of heaver lenses you can use on the Crane 2 as well, definitely a huge fan of their lineup.

Woooooow. Beautiful photography man, really stand out. So neat, sharp and colorful. Congratz from Brazil!
Thanks for making this video and sharing your insight and tips on using this gimbal.
Really nice review. I'm definitely looking to add a crane like this to my production.
Wow, we were literally discussing this hand held today when you popped up on our ‘scribe feed!

Great review. I have been after a gimbal for a while and this has sold it for me. Awesome work, thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video.

Yo dude. You’re videos are great. Thanks for staying consistent with great content. Keep it up. You’ll be at your first mil sooner than you think.
Dope gimbal shots Levi!
This video’s aspect ratio is ideal for the iPhone X. Nice vid too. Thanks!
What backpack are you pulling the Crane Plus out of in the video? I'm trying to find one that I can carry my Crane Plus in fully assembled.
Thank you so helpful I'm getting one soon I have a silly question about carrying it is it okey to put it in a bag like that or do I have take the case with me especially for trips won't be damage ?
Thanks, Great review!Great footage! Would be working with a camera like the Sony FS5?
This makes me miss Vancouver so much. As always, great video man!

Hello, van you tell me what monitor did you use for see your recording and the stick to put it on? Thanks
hiya, thanks for the review, which polarising or nd filter do you have on the GH5 thats the next thing i need to get along with the gimbal.
How did you get that handle off? Ive tried everything
thanks ashton, your review helped me with my decision to buy it!

What parts did you use for the crane 2 so you have the monitor on the side?
Left Coast Levi, I need some help bro. ...im not sure the crane plus is supported by the ZY Play app any longer? trying to get it up and running for a follow feature but no luck. any insight would be apricated.
Gorgeous shots Levi 👌 Thanks for sharing!
Nice video. I would like to know if this crane plus is good with my fuji xt20 35mm f1.4?
Do you think I can use the Sony a7iii with a 24mm 1.4 on the crane plus ?
Great video as always man! Personally I think that if I had to pick one up I'd rather get the crane 2 still... or the ronin s whenever that comes out :D The small size and the features for the price is still intriguing thought
If you don't need the extra weight capacity, is the Crane V2 essentially the same as the plus? Are the nightlapse and tracking features crane plus exclusive?
Thanks for sharing insight, which carbon monopod at 3:00 do you use, any other tips for using this? thxs
what and where is the dual handle? cant' see or find anywhere. thanks
Will this work with my Canon 7d mark ii with the sigma 24 105 f4? I also have the Sony a7 iii
hey bro!! A little question! What follow focus recomend for zhiyun crane plus? Thanks
Awesome bro! What luts do you use to color grade? Beautiful!
Nice advise at the end to mix your shoots with a handheld style - how would you compare Crane Plus vs Crane V2 Levi Allen?
does thi
s fully work with the m50 canon
Hi thanks for the nice review. I would like to buy it for a GoPro. Can I mount a GoPro on the crane plus ? I prefer invest in a robust gimbal for future rather than a first small one
hey bro! Whats is your hand grid for the monitor? Thanks you broo, i need that!

What’s the best 4K camera to use with the Crane Plus?
very rad review man! love the insight
Wish your videos would show up in my damn homepage feed...I had to dig to find this video. Anyway, great shots, great review. Would like hear your thoughts on the Ronin-S once you get your hands on one.

Mate I love your colouring! Do you sell LUTs?
What camera & lense you use bro?
Can u balance canon G7x on this also?
Well done! I have the Zhiyun Crane 2, this one here is definitely easier on my grip.
what and where is the dual handle? cant' see or find anywhere. thanks
What font have you used buddy?
Another awesome video man, great review!
would it work with a Sony DSC-HX400V
what lens are u using?
keep up the good work, praying for you man.

I MADE STUFF. Sitting at my edit and kept hearing that phrase until I finished it. Cheers for the inspiration.
Thank you for your honest and real life scenario review :)
I also love it quite much!
Really nice tool!
Cool review, I enjoyed it.
Ashton Kutcher? What are you doing here?
haha ikr
Best comment ever. I thought the same haha
Hi, thank you for your video! Does the crane plus connect with the camera in some way (Bluetooth?) in order to control the focus?
There is a plug like a cord! Bluetooth is for the crane and the cellphone I think!
Just came back from Vancouver, amazing city
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!
That shot at 5:52 is stunning
Good video ! This model has trepitations and the image trembles a bit, the v2 model I think is thinner and smoother! regards
My huge question is: GH5 only has manual focus for slow motion. So how do you keep focus on a slow motion tracking shot when the GH5 is on the gimbal?
Set focus ahead of time, or just change focus with my hand right as I’m framing the shot.
All of this video was shot manual focus actually, except for some shots of me.
Or sometimes I just mess up the focus completely like the skateboard shot at the beginning/end - so I just made them title shots instead haha

jonathan dubsky what’s warp stabilizer mean
I have a Canon rebel t7i with a lens of 18-55mm , will it work?
yes
Crane plus or Ronin SC?

Those colors are breathtaking man !! The look so washed out vintage, love it! Any particular LUT u are using?
I think he has used the simple orange teal LUT.
Thanks for the great review!Btw where can I find the backpack in the video lol. Looks really nice
It’s called and explore 40 by shimoda desisgns
Awesome review man. I have the Crane 2, but considering something a bit beefier like the Crane 2 or Ronin M.
Did you use any IBIS in the camera or image stabilization in the lens
both
Debating whether I should eventually buy a gimbal like this to replace my glidecam. Is there any stress when you adjust the focal length with the 12-35mm?
yes there will always be stress when throwing any gimbal out of balance, but it can manage zooming in the lens do problem. Motors are just working harder so you might get an extra jitter here or there if you aren't operating smoothly
Can you write back and tell me if this Crane plus can work with a Canon 80d? Can't seem to find the correct info anywhere...Thanks!
It should as long as you don't have a massive lens on
I'm using the Zhiyun Crane 2 since a few days, excellent product, but found already some flaws which I don't really like:
